The following numbers are a breakdown of funds spent to support and oppose Propositions 73-77. The information is broken down into three groupings -- 1) general consultants, which includes mail vendors; 2) media, which includes TV and radio buys, and 3) polling. Although infrequent, some companies will appear in more than one category based on how the expenditure was classified. These numbers have been rounded and are all courtesy of CalAccess, CA's Automated Lobbying and Campaign Contribution And Expenditure Search System, a service of the CA Sec/State. The amounts are current as of 10/22, the final day of the last full reporting period, making these conservative totals. Also note that firms taking in less than $100K are not listed, but are included in the totals. For official titles and ballot summaries of each proposition, please click here.

I got calls from Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) and Rudy Guiliani over the weekend. Yesterday when I got home from work, I had calls from Davis, Allen, Bush and the candidate for delegate--chris gregerson. It was overkill, I've got to say.
The money in politics is just obscene. The fact it has become an "industry" to run and manage campaigns - and make money into the millions of dollars - would make our founders hang their heads in shame.
