Pro Patriot Act Ad Airs During "24"
The Coalition for Security, Liberty and the Law tonight plans to broadcast an ad defending the Patriot Act during tonight's edition of "24" on Fox. We've yet to figure out which markets it will air in.
The ad features Debra Burlingame, the sister of American Airlines Flight 77 captain Chic Burlingame.
Burlingame speaks directly to camera and questions Senators who think they can "safely weaken" the Patriot Act.
(One small irony: the "President" on "24" is portrayed as a vacillating reed of a man who ought not be trusted with extraordinary powers. And a key aide is working with the enemy.)

Engaging dialogue just doesn't work as well as propaganda, about which I did another of my Cliff's Notes things last night at my place.
Cornering people with fear of another attack is a slick way to sell losing ones civil liberties. I wonder how much longer the public will allow themselves to be duped into believe taking away our fundamental freedoms in the name of terrorism make sense. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.
My question is: Where is the money coming from to pay for all the commericals on TV, Radio and Newspapers for the President to be able to commericalize the Patriot Act? Is it our own tax money?
The proposed amendments in the Senate version of the amended Patriot Act introduces a review process before giving the authority to demand records from bookstores and libraries and requires the FBI to maintain records and to report the number of times such authority is used. Given the Administrations penchant for saying black is white, I cannot trust the content of this message.
The Patriot Act is key to our survival as a safe and free Nation. Ensuring the most qualified and Law abiding citizens are in control of the operation and monitoring of information, will be the most important requirments. Americans should not be so secretive with thier lives. "One Nation under God" isnt hiding anything from the one that matters the most in the End.
I think Patriot Act is a pretty cool guy. He protects Americans and doesn't afraid of anything.
Personally I am all for the Patriot Act, I mean what else promises security AND peace of mind am I right? I mean if Osama came up to me right now, what would I do? Well I wouldn't have to do anything because he and two hundred other "dangerous" looking Arabs would be on their way to the Guantanamo Happy Camp.
