Hillary Clinton And The Middle Class
Excerpts from the first major thematic speech Sen. Hillary Clinton has given in a long while. She spoke at the DLC's Conversation in Denver and promoted the group's American Drean initiative.
"To paraphrase the 1992 campaign line, it's the American Dream, stupid."
And later: "Will all due respect, rich people did not make America great. It was America's destiny to create something new -- a middle class that provided upward mobility to the poor and opportunity to the many."
Clinton said that the middle class "made America great." And later: "My story of hard work that lifts self, family and community is the American story."
"We got there in large part because of the Democratic Party -- we asked individuals to take responsibility for themselves and also to help in their communities, and in return, we aspect people to expect that their government woudl take responsibility for spending their hard-earned tax dollars [to] ensure the underpinnings of fairness and opportunity for all."
"It's time for Democrats to show how an agenda for change can turn this country around and bring the American Dream within reach."
"We can replace trickle down economics with rise up economics."

I am going to throw up. It was all because of the Democratic Party that America is what is today! Why didn't anyone know that until today! What is "rise up" economics? Raising taxes on the rich is not a rise up economy. Democrats think they are so important and relevant. So Hilda thinks it is the middle class that provides upward mobility to the poor? What bullcrap. The only thing providing upward mobility to the "poor" is welfare and the constant promise (lies) Democrats make like this article, vote for me and we will set you free!
Gee... where have we heard this before? let's see... Oh yes... it's just about the same thing that Sen Bayh said a week ago!
This is perhaps one of the most sickening things I have heard a politician utter. I think Mrs. Clinton, and most of the Democrats for that matter, continually rely on the general public's lack of knowledge of economics, how the capitalistic system works, and the sense of "oppression" of the working class to forward a socialistic agenda. They push the idea that the government can provide the American Dream better than any "evil corporation." It's sad to me that so few people see this. It was indeed rich people who made America great. RICH PEOPLE PROVIDE THE JOBS THAT CREATE THE MIDDLE CLASS. Working class folks may have been the ones who did the labor on the railroads, but the whole thing was organized and paid for by guess who? Rich people. Same with the automobile industry, the steel industry, telecommunications, computers, etc. And if a middle class or poor person has a great idea, tirelessly promotes it, implements it, hires a staff to produce it and becomes a rich person in the process, are they suddenly not so great? Isn't THAT the American Dream? At what point does a successful endeavor become an "evil corporation?"
In this same speech, Mrs. Clinton also said "the Republicans have done nothing about the costs eating away at paychecks." She then unveiled proposals to enable more Americans to attend college, expand health insurance, and give every American a retirement savings account. How will this be paid for? Through taxes. Which are what? "Costs eating away at paychecks." Wow.
Chris, do you honestly think you can a functioning democracy without taxation?
I'm sure you have no objection to wasting treasure on wars of choice or on tax cuts to the rich. Is your objection to her speech that she seems to want to use taxes in a way that will benefit more Americans than the top 1%?
I would like to quote one of the Greatest Presidents of the United States Thomas Jefferson:
"To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."
You want to have more of your money, get rid of income taxes then you will prosper along with the country.
How gullable are people? We see a woman who blabs on about helping the middle class, by creating more government programs which in the end will require TAX MONEY as usual, that YOU the middle class people will pay for. Gee, thanks for the help Hillary... It's pretty unlikely that people as wealthy as the Clintons will cut their own throat to save your poor asses. Someone's gotta pay for it, and we all know they won't vote on behalf of themselves footing some of the bill. It's gonna boil down to tax money - YOUR TAX MONEY. It always has! If you believe her for one second, and fall for it, you deserve to live in the mass poverty she will create as president. Wake up Hillary supporters!
