What is the source of this information? It looks like pure, biased conjecture.

It was hard to get by the first numbered item, because Bay Buchanon, and Rep Capito (the 2nd Republican on the House committee supervising pages) and many other Republicans have pointed out that the emails, alone, should have raised sufficient suspicion. The media often mentions the email asking for a photo, and doesn't even mention the even creepier email where Foley discusses another mail page, named "Will" and his being underage and being in "great shape."

I know that both Democrats and Republicans get criticized for trying to politicize things like this, but isn't it still bad? Can we stop defending him?

THIS (^^) is interesting in terms of website management because I've seen a few specific-issue threads spammed recently and referrer-spam link attempts from porno spammer sites to my website AFTER I published a critique thread about Bill Clinton's FOX interview, AND after I published a critique about Congressman Foley's wretched illness and despicable behaviors (I think that last description also applies to Bill Clinton, however).

None of my other general interest site areas/threads on a blog were spammed, just these two themes (AND a few that exposed irregular commerce by godaddy.com).

My site is not advertiser supported but represents a single author enterprise, and reflects my individual opinions about issues, experiences and often includes politics. I am a conservative and a Catholic, a Christian, however, and seeing the aggressive assault upon these uniquely themed threads at my website (spam hits every two minutes now for several weeks upon these isolated threads that I've described here, combined with the recent spate of porno-spammer, faux websites attempting referrer spam to my site) coincide with the threads about: godaddy.com, Bill Clinton and Foley -- my threads on my site about these issues are critical of those three issues/individuals, not sympathetic to any of them.

I consider this recent malignment of my site, these threads only, to be an attempt to silence interaction (closing commenting and trackbacks on the blog is the only solution for part of this problem) and to, in effect, "attack" and malign any critic (of these specific issues/individuals). They're certainly not going to gain sympathy nor support by associating with my site, their spam is deleted unread and their offline porno referrer links are blocked; however, the spammer behavior is an assault upon my website in a retort fashion, a "punishing" of a site that complains about these issues.

Because I do believe the spamming is an effort to attack conservative websites. I note that the vile Foley resigned once unearthed, while Democrats found to be similarly engaged in vile behaviors are cheered on by supporters (look at Bill Clinton's personality surge today, a denial if not affirmation of the man's person, amorality and life behaviors by those who popularize him). In the case of this gameplan by Democrats, they are proving themselves to be yet again the Party of the amoral and degenerate. Foley is a sick, perverse person and he's not the first homosexual who's attempted to defame the Republican Party and Republicans in general (consider Foley as a Democrat and what the reaction to his behaviors would be); however, Foley has resigned his office (good); his behavior is disgusting and Republicans everywhere reject him in those terms. But in the case of comparable Democrats, they remain in office, even gain additional voter support among Democrats for similar and even worse behaviors and personal amorality. And then malign those who disagree with them.

They certainly prove time and time again that Democrats are those who use terrorist tactics on the internet in the case of pornography and comment and trackback spam targeting conservatives and conservative websites who raise issues that threaten the Democrats' ongoing attempt to power grab.

They are all for the war on terror, but fight everything that could actually stop terrorists. They reccomend the ineffective and fight the effective. Demos had a bad few weeks recently. They are having a good week now. In a few weeks, they will have more bad weeks. However, from now until November, expect the dirtiest politics you have ever seen from them. It started last week. Every week, they will start a new rumor or scandal. You can bet they knew about this one for some time and waited until after the Florida primary to leak it.

While it appears that Rep Foley is unfit as a US government official, it seems to me that the lynch mob has appeared prior to full proof.
I say this because I am black-listed from sending E-mails into another country because my E-mail address has been used by spammers promoting pronographic messages. That is, my E-mail address has been essentially appropriated and now I am suffering. I have asked my DSL provider what can be done - nothing is the answer.
So, while appearances are damning in many cases, such appearances aren't necessarily so!

Most outside the Beltway aren't going to take this as more than another example of why we have such low expectations, simply higher hopes, for the integrity and performance of our elected officials.

The party that openly defended Barney Frank's involvement in the illegal male prostitution ring (rumored to have involved underage boys) run from his home (in which he claimed ignorance, even while fixing the parking tickets of a number of the johns), and the alchohol intoxication and statutory rape of a 17 year old male page by Senator Gerry Studs, claiming to defend children. Hell, many of us are still waiting to find out what REALLY happened to Chandra Levy!

The memo shown in this article demonstrates a complete lack of anything resembling integrity. In any other situation, I believe that it would be damning proof of deliberate, malicious and ACTIONABLE slander. Were it not for Sovereign immunity granted members of the House and Senate, I feel that the Democratic leadership would be facing civil lawsuits that they could not possibly defend.

The fact that Nancy Pelosi may have had this information for even longer that the Republican leadership and withheld it from law enforcement until such time that she could use it to political advantage SHOULD be investigated as a deliberate case of Child Endangerment and Obstruction of Justice. I fully endorse a COMPLETE investigation of ALL players in this disgrace, not just the selective demands of a self-serving minority so desperate for power that they will stoop to any atrocity to win.

Compare and contrast how the Dems have dealt with similar and more serious crimes among their own: They lie, deny and stonewall, and then blame the victim. Foley resigned immediately, and the Republicans have already called for an investigation. No bashing of the victims, either, except by the Dems, who went directly against the wishes of the parents of the young men in question.
Remind the voters of the dialogue arond Clinton's more than flirtation with a 19 year old, by repeating their mantras: "It's just sex." and "Everybody does it." That one covered both the sex and the lying.

The media would be talking now about Woodward's bombshell book, the Torture, Detainment, & Pardon Law, Condi ignoring Tenet's warning and the cover-up, and all the other major stories that just hit the fan. Instead it's the relatively trivial Foley sex scandal, creepy as it is. Foley takes one for the team, maybe Hastert has to step down as Speaker, but it won't go much further.

I think Rove had this in his pocket and released it at the precise time he needed to to divert the always sex-scandal-hungry media.

I used to be registered Democratic and was active in the Democratic platform committees, but I am so sickened by the Democratic party and the way they have treated the American people, that I will now vote straight Republican regardless....They remind me of very spoiled brats who need to be sent to their room.

All Americans are discusted with Foley's activities. However, to date, I have not heard anything of actual contact between Foley and any Page. His e-mails and his IMs were enough for him to resign in discrace. For, me that is enough, unless it is later proven he violated the law, then he should be convicted in a court of law. But, so far, his activities have not risen to the level of Gary Studds, Barnie Frank, or Bill Clinton, all Democrates, and all committed actual sexual activity. Frank ran a male prostotution ring from his own house and is still a member of Congress. Studds had sex with male Pages, and for Clinton, the Democratic response was "its only sex".
It is clear the Republican Leadership seems to have known about the e-mails at least from the spring of 2006, but what did they know of the content? They apparently didn't know of the IMs, but apparently some Democrates did. Why didn't these Democrates say anything? Foley is only one man. His activities will only effect one race. When are the Democrates going to focus on real issues, like national security, terrorism, boarder control, social security, and taxes?

Melvin Jay "Mel" Reynolds (born January 8, 1952) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from the state of Illinois. Reynolds currenty works for Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition.

In August of 1994, he was indicted for having sex with a sixteen year old campaign volunteer yet was allowed to continue running for re-election. In November of 1994 he was reelected. Reynolds initially denied what he claimed were racially motivated charges. On August 22, 1995 he was convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography. He resigned his seat on October 1, 1995.

Reynolds was sentenced to five years in prison and expected to be released in 1998. However, in April of 1997, he was convicted on fifteen counts of bank fraud and lying to SEC investigators and as a result, was sentenced to an additional six and a half years in federal prison. After serving 42 months of his 78 month sentence, U.S. President Bill Clinton commuted his sentence and Reynolds served the balance in a half way house.

Its illuminating to contrast this incident to the earlier Congressional page scandal in 1983. In that particular incident, Democratic Rep. Gerry Studds did far more than just send lurid messages to a minor...he engaged in a long-term sexual relationship with an underage male page.

What happened when he was caught? Nothing at all. He refused to be censured by the House, and successfully ran for reelection for the next 13 years. No criminal charges were ever filed.

The "Foley: Democratic Playbook" is just sick. Same with any type of playbook by the Republicans. Democrats are such hypocrites when it comes to engaging in the politics of personal destruction which they claim they loathe. But this latest cynical move by Democrats to throw all nuance to the wind and use Rep. Foley's indefensible behavior - sending, at best, sexually ambiguous emails and the more homo-erotic IMs - as a means to a political end to tar and feather the whole Republican leadership is far more disturbing.

And given Leader Hastert's request to the FBI to investigate who held onto those IMs, thus putting more pages at risk (isn't this the latest lament of the Democrats?), I wouldn't be surprised if we find liberal journalists and more than one Democratic operative who have coordinated this October surprise to maximize its effect.

It's being rumored that there are more page/Congressman scandals to be revealed and what do you bet they will all involve Republicans? If this is the case, there there is little question there is a conspiracy afoot in the Democratic party to use not only Congressmen with clay feet but also adolescent pages for their own political blame game.

And we know given the Democrats own sexual scandals with minors in the past (Mel Reynolds, Gerry Studds are just a few examples), that there should be a commensurate number of Democrats involved in such disgusting picadillos if this investigation is fair.

If these allegations are real, then he needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Any democrat or republican should see that and quit making it a political PARTY issue. But until I see hard proof that there was a definite attempt to cover this up on the part of Republican leaders, it remains an isolated case .

It is laughable to think that this will work. Here's why: 1) For the DEMS to suddenly jump on this bandwagon will highlight their desperation to find any other "real" issue that will stick. 2) It will become evident, and will be replayed by REPUB leadership that they called for Foley's immediate resignation, and would have thrust him out, rather than defend his actions as did DEMS with Clinton (another aide, remember?) 3) It will resurrect the Clinton scandal, and that is one that Americans remember - clearly. 4) It will allow REPUBs to point out that DEMS were just hunting for a way to avoid the real issues. No poll shows "values" as a real issue. 5) You have to just KNOW that REPUBS have documents, and that the blogosphere will produce documents, showing that far more DEMS in congress have actually been "flirting" with pages than REPUBS. This could actually become a trap for DEMS. Look particularly at middle DEM leadership and at a couple of black DEMs, and at least one gay DEM. This approach could backfire seriously.

The best way for DEMS to use this is to hit it hard, be brief and then point out that they want to return to the real issues and let the REPUBS handle this internally. If DEMS try to use this as a shield it will all come down around their ears.

1.) How is the War on Crime going? With our own in-house terrorism rising – Gang Violence – what is the plan of attack their? How many die to our own terrorism?
2.) Will we ever win the War on Drugs? Can we ever put the money and resources that go into protecting and raising a new country, into protecting our own?
3.) Why is it that no political party, can get anything done over there years of service; except to always give themselves a raise in their salary? What are they afraid of? Who actual owns and leads our country?
