Matt Dowd, Dick Armey Defend Kerry

Matt Dowd, the president's '04 pollster, told MSNBC's Chris Matthews that Kerry "just misspoke" and "in no way" did he think Kerry intended to insult U.S. troops.

And here's ex-Maj. Leader Dick Armey, also on Hardball:

“Well, of course, this is a perfect example of politics in America … The President wants the people to perceive [Kerry] of having maligned our troops… I think John Kerry’s right. He’s making a defense of himself. He’s saying, ‘Look, I was not maligning the troops, I was maligning the President of the United States.'”

If Kerry merely mangled his words he could do the easy and correct thing and apologize for doing just that. How hard is that? If he really did make a mistake, it should not be a problem. Instead, he is refusing to apologize (odd behavior from someone that accidently mangled his words) and is attacking and attempting to smear everyone else from Rush Limbaugh to John McCain. Unfortunately for him, he is on camera saying what he said. It is not like they are making it up. Stupid move on his part and will follow him if he ever does try to run for President again.

Wow, there must be something about being an "ex" politician that allows you to be more honest with the electorate.

Kerry Misspoke as he so often did during the 2004 Campaign......but he's not up for Re-Election, so Bush will not pick up any "style" points for picking on Kerry being "anti-troops"......
Bush is the Anti-Troops President.....he's caused more Americans to lose limbs than the Vietnam War... and for what....we're WORSE off than we were when we Started!!
