I note that there is a severe lack of individual thought displayed. The legislation will be pushed because "Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi...supports it." So much for electing people with their own ideas. Yes, I note he has them, just not the backbone to stand up for them in the face of the not even elected new leader.
I was starting to miss old James "Beam me up, Scotty" Traficant.
Now they've got someone new to add to their daily embarrasment. He joins veterans like Barbara Boxer, Charlie Rangel, Dennis Kucinich, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry.
I agree with Murtha. How is a Congressman supposed to feed his kids on their meager six-figure salaries? It's only fair to let them accept some bribes now and then.
In "Charlie Wilson's War", the Murtha ABSCAM incident is well documented. Tip O'Niel appointed Charlie Wilson to the Ethics committee for the express purpose of dismissing the ethics charges against Murtha. In return Charlie was given a lifetime appointment to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He did just that and said it was a fair exchange one year on the Ethics committee and a lifetime appointment to the Center. Not a bad trade. Murtha went on to help Charlie in his War as the Head of the Defense Appropriations Committee. Good Reading.
