TX 14: The First Open '08 House Seat?
Our TX affiliate, Quorum Report, just sent out a breaking news alert on GOP Rep. Ron Paul, a.k.a. "Dr. No." Paul, the '88 Libertarian candidate for the president, has apparently filed to run for president in '08, potentially opening up his House seat. Already, Quorum Report notes that one GOPer is making calls about a run. As for Paul, he plans to run as a GOPer this time.

In 1960, LBJ ran for VP and re-election to the Senate. Therefore, Rep. Paul could run for President and also seek re-election.
Texas Election Code 141.033(c)...the prohibition against a candidate filing for more than one office does not apply to a candidate for President or Vice-President, so Congressman Paul does not have to give up his seat to run. This also happened in 1976, when Senator Bentsen was a candidate for President and in 1988 when he was a candidate for Senator and Vice President.
Rep. Ron Paul would make a great president. He is a man of the people, a Constitutionalist, and belives in the rule of law. Those are foreign characteristics to most people from the years of traitors and criminals we've had in DC.
