Giuliani: Put More States In Play, Or Else We'll Use
We've heard Giuliani advisers make this argument, but we've never heard it from the candidate himself.
Interviewed this a.m. on "Smerconish," the Imus substitute on MSNBC, Giuliani said
"From a political point of view, I probably have the best chance of putting states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Washington, Oregon, California in play. And as a Republicans, if we don't put those states in play next time ... we may see a Democratic president."
Pennsylvania and New Jersey are realistic. California, Oregon and Washington are second-tier. Connecticut is unlikely.
But Giuliani's point holds, right?

Giuliani is in a la-la land. Every NY poll in last few months have shown that Hillary destroys him in NY in a general election matchup. And now the speed with which he is flipflopping in last few weeks he will loose every single state.
Every poll also shows Giuliani destroying Hillary nationwide, if you want to go by polls. And when you say "loose" do you mean "lose" there, Captain Spelling Bee?
The key is agisnt who. I think he beats Hillary in NJ, Penn, and Maybe Washigton. Obama adds maybe Conn to the list he can win.
Edwards vs. Rudy I believe would be the most interesting because Edward Trade stance can mean he could flip Ohio and Missiour and hold onto Wisconsin and Minnosota, but I belive puts CA because there are I think voters of all strips who works for an industy here that benfit from the free trade deals that could cross over along with voters in Wash, OR. Along with NY, Conn, NJ, and Penn that I thin Rudy would be favorite in agisnt Rudy plus FL and the Southwest states like AZ and NV that topically are not the anti free trade type voters.
New Poll out today shows Hillary lead slipping over Rudy in NY from 51-39 to 48-43. I think this goes back to here chasing Obama down to Selem (SP?) and broke out her Southern Accent. She played right into the sterotype of her as a pandering phoney.
are we going to get a formal announcement that Rudy is running in 08 still?
Reports at the beginning of April said that Giuliani would be making his "official" announcement this month. McCain is making his this week.
I wonder how a Clinton-Giuliani matchup would play in Upstate NY. They tend to be more Republican but might actually fell they "know" Hillary as their Senator than they do Mayor Rudy, esp. with the whole NYC/NYS divide thing.
Itr might be worth pointing out that Giuliani won a general election in New York City once upon a time.
Actually, George W. Bush got 47% of the vote twice in Oregon, losing in 2000 by only 7,000 votes out of approximately 1.4 million cast. Why is that a stretch?
Siena poll out today has HRC up on Giuliani, Barack Obama up on Rudy too.

is it far to say we should get rudy's offical announcment be for the GOP debate at the ronald regean libary debate on MSNBC on may 3rd I think it is?
