News item: McCain unloads on Mitt Romney,

Superficial Interpretation: McCain is afraid of Romney; McCain is worried by Romney's rise in the polls

Better interpretation: McCain and Romney are now running against each other; they're vying for the Rudy alternative spot; also, McCain is a bit concerned about Romney's rise in the polls, and he's angry that Romney appears to be eschewing intellectual honesty in order to score cheap political points on immigration. Also: McCain thinks Romney is a big phony.

McCain should not worry about multiple-choice Romney. If McCain runs a single TV ad showing what Romney had said few years back and what Romney is saying now it will destroy Romney. The other problem is Romney is only a one term unpopular governor who has no great achivements as governor. Romney is running away from his own health care plan. A negative as by McCain about Romney will show everyone how phony Romney is.

McCain's biggest problem is his position on Iraq war and his anger management problem.

Hotline's interpretation that "McCain is a proud, complicated guy, and like many proud, complicated guys, he has a temper" is boloney. No one will buy it. Would Hotline say the same thing if Hillary, Edwards, Obama had told another senator 'F*** you'?

McCain definitely has anger management problem and he needs to address it.

Why must everyone inside the Beltway assume Richardson is running for VP? How insulting. The guy has the best reume in the field and of the Democrats is the only one with executive experience. Plus, he has good ads that show to the voters that he is human. Can anyone imagine Hillary being seen as human by the majority of the electorate? Come on, pundits, take off the Beltway blinders and take a look at what's really going on.

To What?

And how many times has McCain flip-flopped on major issues in the past several years? How often has McCain shown up to vote on crucial bills in the past several months?

And your theory about McCain possibly using an ad campaign using some things that Romney said a few years ago as opposed to what he's saying now has already been tried so many times - and it's not working! You see, when "educated" people study Romney's past and what he has said - they very soon discover that there's really no flip-flopping, and they see a person making sound, logical explanations as to why they've changed their views on abortion.

If you want to try and claim that Romney flip-flopped on gay marriage - won't work either. There's a huge difference on supporting gay "rights", and defending marriage "rites" as only between a man and a woman. Romney is smart and wise enough to know the difference, as do most other people.

Recent news articles have been coming out lately on showing that All the major potential presidential candidates (Clinton, Obama, Edwards, McCain, Giuliani, F. Thompson, Brownback...) have shifted or changed their positions on issues many times in the past several years!

So, again, your argument is losing against Romney once people find out the truth that he is becoming one of the best Conservative candidates!

McCain is finished. His judgment is too suspect. His bill is horrible. Not only do the vast majority of Republicans strongly oppose it, but even left wing media such as CNN and MSNBC are at least split on the issue. Add to his horrible position the anger management problems and I just don't have any confidence in his ability to deal with real issues.

As for the Romney attacks, get real. Sure, McCain can probably hurt Romeny w/negative adds, but not much. Romney's already responded to the questions multiple times in the debates. Voters will see it as Jacosta says. Additionally, such adds will definately hurt McCain who already is viewed as a bit of a jerk. (Remember how Gore dropped in the polls after winning the 1st debate because he was a jerk?)

Romney, Tancredo and Hunter are the only candidates that I am confident have good plans for the future of our country that they will actually carry out.

Just wanted to say I like this new item of superficial/better explanation. Make this a recurring feature please. :)

One comment about Romney being an 'unpopular' one-term governor... In such a liberal state as Massachusetts, wouldn't a conservative who is pro-family and pro-life be disliked? Romney is extremely smart and has great ideas on immigration, balancing the budget, and fighting the war. He knows how to take failing organizations and turn them around. We need someone in Washington who is willing to take it on and make positive change. I like Romney because he's spent most of his time outside of Washington. It's when people take what he says out of context (in terms of what he has said and the context around it) that the gullible followers start calling him flip-flop, etc. I bet you that every politician running for office has changed his or her position on something in the past. Most don't have the integrity to admit it.

I think you are thinking like sukrat, but I think you should cover the other side of the topic in the post too...
