McCain Slaps Obama... And Gives Him Flak

From a statement:

"While Senator Obama's two years in the U.S. Senate certainly entitle him to vote against funding our troops, my service and experience combined with conversations with military leaders on the ground in Iraq lead me to believe that we must give this new strategy a chance to succeed because the consequences of failure would be catastrophic to our nation's security.

"By the way, Senator Obama, it's a 'flak' jacket, not a 'flack' jacket."

He's not getting enough sleep to spell check everything. But I'm sure Senator Obama will happy top point out that he didn't write that release and throw another staffer under the bus...

are we to seriously believe that john mccain thinks that barack obama wrote his presser???

That's the best they could come up with, a typo? Rather than face the facts presented in Obama's release regarding the amount of force needed to ensure McCain's safety while in Iraq, all the while claiming all is peachy/rosey in Iraq

I wonder how long it will take Obama to throw his FLACKS under the bus for this latest screwup?

Obama: "Is all you got, bitch?"

Do you really want a man with McCain's temper problem that close to the nuclear launch codes?

Actually, I think Senator McCain needs a jacket for the flack he is taking for his "stroll" through Bagdad.

Maybe McCain should enter a spelling bee instead of running to be Bush 2.0.

That sharp-eyed McCain (or someone on his staff) has really discredited Obama (or someone on his staff) for misspelling "flak jacket". It occurs to me, though, that "flack" is a slang term for public-relations person. Since McCain's Baghdad stroll was nothing more than political PR, "flack" might not be so far off the mark.

By the way, Senator no-show, "flak" and "flack" are pronounced exactly the same way, and Senator Obama made you look like a fool in a speech. It wasn't a written comment, doofus.

You might want to acquaint your incompetent staff [the ones you haven't fired yet] with that "internets" thingy.

The Dictionary says it "Flack" can be spelled either way and still mean shrapnel. Oh, and here's a usage of "Flack" from the Army Times:

www.armytimes.com/legacy/new/0-ARMYPAPER-816759.php

But hey, you're only journalists, not like you should be expected to fact check or anything.

Senator McCain, look up "flack jacket" with Google. Many people spell it that way. Stop dissing Senator Obama. Do you notice that he doesn't diss you?

Also look up "support the troops". This includes the best available body armor, medical care, etc., not the second best that Bush doles out stingily.

Old man McCain........it's FLACK. Obama is correct.

flak and flack are both appropriate, John.

It is flak or flack. Sorry McCain, you are wrong again. Wrong about a word and wrong about a war. But I guess it isn't as important to be right about a word as it is to be right about a war.

1. According to Webster's and Dictionary.com, either spelling is acceptable.

2. Does McCain think that Obama writes every press release put out by his campaign?

McCain should check the dictionary: Flak and Flack can be spelled both ways. Did McCain have some flack (hired publicity hack) write this?

Catastrophic for our security in what way? The Shia Iraqis and the Sunni Iraqis are conducting a civil war and both are turning on Al Quaeda which is acting like the Inquisition. Either group would be far more effective at wiping out Al Quaeda in Iraq than we are.

Probable outcome: A Shia Theocracy in Iraq: the Shia are now armed, have the majority of the population and have the backing of Iran.

Oh! Obama included a "c". Well, now I believe McCain that the Iraq War was the right thing to do.

Jeebus, political discourse in this country is pathetic, and McCain is worse.

Except when McCain wears it, it has increasing become a "flack" jacket! McCain has become a joke and a discredit to his credentials.

Considering that a "flack" usually means someone who pushes the company line to the press - in this case "flack jacket" seems rather appropriate.

What a chicken shit shot! Now the enemies of Obama will say that he is ignorant because he can't spell.
McCain has proven over and over that he is petty, cantankerous and unstable. He can no longer be taken seriously. Politicians have fallen into a style which is more about aggression toward their opponents than elegant oratory which might convince their potential adherents. When I listen to Englishmen in Parliament, I am reminded of how poorly our politicians speak in comparison to them. It would seem that in order to be a politician in our country, you just have to drum up scads of money and be able to insult the hell out of your opponents. Accusing them of being traitors is very popular. Or if you can say they might be gay, you have an ace in the hole.

For the uninformed, one might note that "flak" is a longstanding military term for the shrapnel-like results of antiaircraft fire. "Flack," on the other hand, is a derogatory term used among journalists and others to describe a public relations representative.

As editor of seven daily newspapers around the country for nearly 30 years, it's only fair to note that the two terms are often confused and/or misspelled regularly by journalists of all stripes.

Accordingly, Barack shouldn't lose any sleep over this one. McCain's campaign must have been having a slow news day.

McCain is such a phony and liar that he has no credibility left. He is now Bush's poodle on war. So any defense of sending americans to die is not going to work. Wake up Mccain. Stop behaving like a moron.

Buzz and TruckStopTimmy prove that there is nothing that a Republican can say that is so dumb that there will be no one dumb enough to defend it.
