Romney: Prayer in School Is A-Ok, Sometimes

CARROLL, Iowa - Mitt Romney just can't seem to get away from questions about religion.

At a town hall here this afternoon, a voter asked him what he thought about prayer in school.

"We ought to allow ceremonies, graduation ceremonies and public events that we have the ability to recognize the Creator," he said. "I think it's appropriate for us to recognize the Creator in the public square. I think that having nativity scenes and menorahs in public places [during] the holidays is totally appropriate.

"I'm not looking for us to have prayer in the classroom every day or teachers leading in prayer," he continued. "I don't think we should prohibit God from public places. I think "In God We Trust" belongs on our coin, and I think "Under God" belongs in our pledge of allegiance."

Romney said he thinks it would be "a sad omission" not to recognize the presence of God in history, because students should learn that "Congress believed that our rights came not from government, and not from the Constitution, but instead from the Creator.... The founders of this nation were fundamentally believing people. They came from different faiths and different religions, but they believed in the Creator."

"By the way, I also recognize the right of people not to believe," he said, a departure from a line he used in last week's speech in Texas. "Freedom requires religion just as religion requires freedom."

He then said, "But I found something interesting in America, even those that don't believe in God typically believe in something greater than themselves."

Children are losing more than their lives here on Earth but their inheritance in Heaven aswell. Many of students in school have difficulty expressing themselves because they lack the importance of having a relationship with Christ. A lot of children who dont depend on God depend on their on capability which will always continue to fall short. Children will continue to feel this disconnection in all their relationship if they dont realize that they need a relationship with the most important person that loves them unconditionally, which is Christ. We are losing our children to the world and we are abandoning their cries.

The sooner we ban all religion the better off the human race will be. It's never been about just expressing religion, it's always been about expressing or believing in the RIGHT religion. If you are irrational enough to believe in all that hocus-pocus, then you need to be institutionalized immediately for your own safety.

Sometimes, I understand why there are individuals who undermine beliefs in any form of "religion". Especially, when "religion" has been the reason for some to harbor bitter feelings of hatred for others in allegience to their God or faith, or for those to commit acts of violence in the name of their God or faith, and for others to maintain the belief that it is right to kill those who do not support their beliefs and lifestyles due to the teachings of their faith. I agree that "religion" has been the detriment of many societies, but on the other hand, a personal relationship with God, the creator, preserves societies, and I especially pity those who totally oppose and redicule the attempt of those who would try to connect with who or whatever is believed to be their origin or creator in the name of religion or relationship.
