Romney On Hinckley's Death
West Palm Beach -- Mitt Romney came out swinging against John McCain this morning, hitting him --before 7 am. -- for co-sponsoring a bill to cap emissions standards, which he said would increase gas prices.
At a gas station session, Romney also addressed and the death of Gordon B. Hinckley, the leader of the Mormon church.
"We will miss his leadership," Romney said after heaping praise on Hinckley, including "his effort to reach out across the world and to faraway lands and to build temples for our church."
Romney said he would try to attend Hinckley's funeral, if it meshes with his schedule. He said he spoke with Hinckley when he was thinking about a White House bid, and "he smiled and said it would be great experience if you won and a great experience if you lost."
Meanwhile, Romney said he scheduled the session at a gas station to "underscore the fact that Sen. McCain's McCain-Lieberman would be a very expensive bill for the people of Florida." He explained, "By our calculation, a family of four would have to spend about an extra $1,000 a year when McCain-Lieberman became law, and again that's because gas would rise in price approximately 50 cents a gallon and natural gas would rise about 20 percent."
The former Massachusetts furthered his attacks by asserting that McCain is best known for three bills -- all of them flawed according to Romney. They are McCain-Feingold, which he said has made the impact of money on politics worse; McCain-Kennedy, which he tagged as an "amnesty bill"; and McCain-Lieberman.
The underlying message? McCain likes liberal Democrats ... and their policies.
He made the same attacks at a small airport rally a few miles away just minutes later, saying that McCain ought to be the nominee if voters wanted a "liberal Democrat" in the White House.

I am also a Latter-Day Saint and mourn the loss of President Hinckley. I never met him, but after decades of listening to him speak, I feel I have lost a dear loved one. His leadership brought me closer to God, his example of service and humility have inspired me to be more like our Savior Jesus Christ.
We live in a darkening world, and I am often troubled by the hate and sadness that cankers our society. Gordon Hinckley taught me hope and showed me optimism. I am confident that God loves us and no matter what evil surrounds us we can have peace in righteous living and hope in selfless giving.
I am Also a latter day saint and I'm Related to Gordon B. Hinckley by three generations. And i am deeply sad about my families loss we all loved the president of our church. And I wish i could have met him since he is my cousin. But i know that he is happy in heaven and he is no longer suffering as he was getting old and was diagnosed with cancer a long time ago , the church was trying to keep that quiet.
But i know that he is with our savior lord and redemeer Jesus Christ as he did die for our sins.
i to am lds and was devestated to hear that our beloved prophet has passed away. i will always remember him and continue to follow the wonderful council given to us from god through him
I am also a Latter Day Saint from Philippines...On 2011, there will be a big event here in the Philippines and Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley is supposed to be the special visitor/guest of that celebration, but he'll not going to make it...The kind of death he went through only proves how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love him...They didn't make him suffer...He peacefully left this world to be with the Lord's embrace...I know that whoever his successor will be is called of God, is a true prophet of this last dispensation, and I respectfully sustain him.
I am a Filipino Latter-day Saint also. I missed Prophet Gordon B. Hinkley so much. After I was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, the missionaried gave me a dvd titled "Joy to the world". I kept asking them to show me the Prophet's picture. When I watch the dvd Joy to the World, I cried, I just look into his eyes, I know he is the prophet of God indeed. I just know that I know him already before, eventhough it was the first time I saw him. I love him so much, I know I will see him again someday. When I heard about the news that he died, I wanted to cry but I feel happy for him instead, I said "wow, his dream finally become true. His works are done, just like the prophets of old." I'm glad Mitt Romney followed the prophet's advice with a smile? Wow, I know why already. By the way, our house is located in the Main Street, everybody sees our Mitt Romney sign and I'm very proud of it.
