Double, Double, Toil And Trouble

So Bill Clinton is in Mississippi today touting the possibility of a joint HRC/Obama ticket. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton's campaign this morning sent out another memo pushing the notion that Barack Obama is all talk, no action, and that his Iraq plan, in particular, is "just words."

The former president gets to play the role of magnanimous surrogate, and the campaign continues to minimize Obama's message, alleging that he's not serious about withdrawing promptly from Iraq.

So if they damage the guy's credibility enough they won't have to run with him, right? Unless he's the nom ...

RE: Obama's Iraq Plan: Just Words

Once again, it looks like Senator Obama is telling voters one thing while his campaign says those words should not to be mistaken for serious action.

After months of speeches from Senator Obama promising a hard end date to the Iraq war, his top foreign policy adviser that counseled his campaign during that period is on the record saying that Senator Obama will "not rely on some plan that he's crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator."

Voters already have serious questions about whether Senator Obama is ready to be Commander-in-Chief. Now there are questions about whether he's serious about the Iraq plan he's discussed for the last year on the campaign trail.

Senator Obama has made hard end dates about Iraq a centerpiece of his campaign and has repeatedly attacked Senator Clinton for not being clear about her intentions with regard to troop withdrawal.

It turns out those attacks and speeches were just words. And if you can't trust Senator Obama's words, what's left?

This latest incident is part of a larger pattern where Senator Obama doesn't deliver on the promises he makes on the campaign trail -- whether it's his 2004 Senate race or his 2008 White House campaign.

In 2003, Senator Obama said he was for a single payer health system, but now opposes plans that cover every American. He promised to repeal the Patriot Act, but then voted to extend it. He promised to normalize relations with Cuba, but flip-flopped when he started running for president.

In 2008, Senator Obama rails against NAFTA in Ohio while his top economic advisor assures the Canadians his rhetoric is just "political positioning." He promises to opt in to public financing if the GOP nominee does, but then breaks that pledge in real time. He promises to withdraw from Iraq within 16 months, and now his top foreign policy adviser says that he's not relying on the plan.

With a short record to run on, Senator Obama's entire campaign is based on the speeches he makes on the campaign trail. So when he and his advisers dismiss the plans he touts on the stump, it undermines his entire candidacy.

Americans have heard plenty of speeches. It's time they got serious solutions and that's what Hillary is going to deliver when she is President.

So the Clintons want people to think they think Obama is unqualified to be president, but also want people to think they would pick him for vice president. Well, it's no less stupid a double-bind than they've tried to sell us before. And of course, they are lying about both. Of course he's qualified, and of course they won't pick him.

There is a large population of African-Americans in Mississippi. The Clinton's strategy, which is also a racist strategy, is to have Blacks think it's OK to vote for Hillary because they also get Obama. It's Nonsense. This is what they say only in heavily Black-populated parts of the country.

If you look at the so-called retired generals who "support" Hillary, the only moron who amongst them who mimicks Hillary's talking point on Obama's qualification is the Black general on the team. Hey, if a black general on Hillary's team can attack Obama, it must carry weight with the rest of "his" people. This is Hillary's racist schematics unfolding.

She forgets that in the age of Information System, it is a lot easier to get to the truth. She is going to fail miserably. She will NOT be the nominee, no-matter what she does. She is done!!!!

Rather ironic, isn't it?

The campaign memo: Just Words....

Then, both the Clintons dangling an Obama VP slot to voters of Mississippi....

For once I can agree with something coming out of the Clinton campaign, since South Carolina....

Just Words.........

For once I actually agree with you, Jen. But it's not so much the use of Bill Clinton as a surrogate that bothers me, but, as you suggest, it is their mixed message strategy. Hillary's attacking Obama's ability to keep us secure and questioning his leadership on Iraq are both just ridiculous... And Bill's message seems inconsistent and contrived. She should be promoting her own plan for Iraq, healthcare, green jobs instead of using these ambiguous character attacks. This is why she's losing people, like me. The Dems need to keep it positive for sure and get back to issues. And THEN they can save any negative stuff for John McCain, for example, how he is getting away with being endorsed by someone that said New Orleans deserved Katrina, or that he is for continuing this insane occupation in Iraq, or that his campaign is run by lobbyists directly from the Straight Talk Bus. But yes, bottom line is that the Dems' plans on major issues are ALL workable, all of them, and that is the message they need to stay focused on.

OBAMA DEMOCRATS AND SUPPORTERS, GET A CLUE.

Know what Obama means when he says he needs your help to get change: it means not just your vote--it means your support. How? STOP SAYING YOU WILL SUPPORT THE NOMINEE NO MATTER WHO IT IS. WHY?

1. If you will support the Dem nominee no matter what, why should the status quo not just put their candidate as the nominee and ignore the people''s choice? (you''ll vote for who they pick anyway)

2. If you will support the nominee no matter what, Why should Hillary run an honest, fair or even decent campaign? (even if she cheats, you''ll vote for her no matter what)

3. If you will support the nominee no matter what, why should the SD not support the person who pays them the most or offers the best favors? (even if they ignore the true leader, you will elect who they tell you to no matter what)

Do you people even know who the status quo is or what it is? its not just corruption in Washington--it is YOU. It is who you choose and HOW you choose them. If you keep doing what you always do for the party--why should they change? Why should they stop the war? You''ll vote for them no matter what.

Why should they fix NAFTA? YOu''ll vote for them no matter what. Why should they stop backroom deals or stop fixing the elections so their best party pick can win? You''ll vote for them no matter what. So no matter how Hilary wins--she has your vote? No matter what? she has mine if she does it fairly. I don't consider SD intervention as fair.
