Obama: "I'm A Pretty Darn Good Politician"

Meeting in Philly today with Jewish leaders, Barack Obama was asked by an audience member if he could be another Michael Dukakis or George McGovern. In other words, will he only ultimately appeal to educated progressives? And, most critically, will he disappoint in the general?

Obama said that though Dukakis and McGovern were "fine men," he is a far better candidate, reports NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan.

"And let me make one last point about the comparison to McGovern and Dukakis, both excellent men, but I'm a pretty darn good politician," he said. "I can give a pretty good speech, and I can connect and inspire the American people in ways that have become apparent. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't pretty good at mixing it up, and so much of the attack machine that's been built up is part of the old politics."

I'm looking for a leader, not another politician, especially one from Chicago.

*rolls eyes* He hasn't a clue what's about to hit him in the General Election. He has had it so easy. The press is so nice to him. The Republicans will not be as kind.

Speak for yourself, "flyover!"

I'm not a sheep, and therefore I'm not looking for a "leader." What I am looking for is a representative to take my concerns and opinions to Washington.

Any takers? Either party?

Don't you just hate it when people speak in about themselves in a first-person fashion? Obama's ego is so outsized (unless perhaps one factors Michelle's narcisstic outsized ego) that he can speak of himself in such self-engrandizing terms.

Careful lest someone appears to have all the answers, and this boy certainly does just that.

Representation is the job of Congress. The President should be a leader. Baaaaaa

>>Don't you just hate it when people speak in about themselves in a first-person fashion?>

And exactly what person should one use when speaking of themselves--third person? "Mortimer is the biggest idiot in the world." OK, I'll agree with you there.

Obama has the game to back up his talk. As he said about negotiating with Iran, "People said, 'You can't do that,' and I said, 'Watch me.'"

Flyover, excuse my ignorance ... what in your mind is the difference between a "leader" and a "politician"? And isn't it possible to be both?

Also, since we are electing a political leader, doesn't that require the skills of someone who can do both?

Sure sounds like Barry is full of himself, eh? Just like his bitter wife.

Good see Obama is humble and certainly not arrogant or elitist.....

I hope democrats know if they vote for Obama we will lose the primary to an old man named McCain. When the Republicans put a commercial out with typical white people, I never been proud until know, the reverends remarks and how small towns cling to guns and religion it will be all over. Don't you get it...? Don't be so in love with someone you can't see what is going on...

What is he supposed to say? That he's a bad politician and that he's the twin of Dukakis?

Hey scaremongers, Obama's not too worried about what you idiots will try to smear him with in the general election. Neither is his army of millions. The people will be deciding this one. Get onboard or get out of the way.

"this boy certainly does just that."

Another GOP racist.

I can't wait to watch you maggots squirm when he is sworn into office.

David,

I'm a Republican who was so concerned about Obama I crossed over and voted for Hillary in the Dem primary because everybody hates Hillary. If Obama keeps going like he's going, by November, everyone will hate him as well. I think it's going to be a good year for Republicans no matter who the Dems nominate.

My definition is that a politician will put his political career ahead of the good of the Nation. A leader will put the Country first (see John Adams and his refusal to go to war with France which cost him re-election). Certainly, there are good and bad leaders. In the past, politicians usually put the country first. Chicago politicians usually put their brothers-in-law and cousins first (and on the payroll). My opinion of BHO is he is a totally scripted politician. He is full of simplistic one-liners with no meat. I will give you a good example. He says in every speech, he's going to pay teachers more. Now, here's my question. Teacher salaries are set by local school boards. There are three choices: (a). he somehow got thru the Ivy League not understanding how schools are funded; (b). going to Federalize the local schools; or (c). he is lying. I'm guessing (c). To me, that's a politician. Sorry, he's not selling out here in flyoverland.

Karen and Ethan, thanks for supporting the politics of unity and hope. Maggots? Idiots? "Army of millions," "the people," "get on board or get out of the way"? What is this, 1933?

I think there are quite a few bitter folks out there. Maybe it's because we watched the right wing noise machine mau-mau good men with vapid, irrelevant attacks in the past few elections, in the defense of the worst president in American history. A lot of bitter people watched helplessly as what seemed like an incredibly stupid idea, the war in Iraq, was prosecuted stupidly, corruptly, with ghastly consequences. And no one was held accountable. And the same crew leapt to the defense of Bush and leaps again for Bush term III. I agree, such people are maggots and idiots. And I also agree that they are about to get steamrolled.

Yeah, we all know that Obama likes to brag. He also likes to grossly exaggerate that bragging to the point where he makes a complete horse's rear end out of himself (good thing his buddies in the liberal media have his back).

What about Obama's claim that no one supports the state of Israel as much as he does. No one! Simon Weisenthal is a lightweight compared to Obama (who has a 20 year relationship and financial ties with a church that honors Louis Fahrakkan).

bk, you nailed that one. Karen, Ethan, can we have your shoe sizes so we can order your Jackboots.

Pretty good with the entire MSM in your pocket.

Obama is a thug and fake. If he is sworn into office, it will be the beginning of the end for the US as we know it. He is a pink-o commie and will destroy the US.
