McCain Pushes Joint Iraq Trip

RENO, NV -- In a Reno gymnasium festooned with American flags, John McCain knocked Barack Obama today for failing to visit Iraq since 2006 or meet with the U.S. generals overseeing the military efforts in the region.

McCain contrasted Obama's accused negligence with the Illinois senator's proposal to meet with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asking, "Why is it that Senator Obama wants to sit down with the president of Iran but hasn't yet sat down with General Petraeus, the leader of our troops in Iraq?"

The McCain camp's criticism of Obama's single pre-surge trip to Iraq originated Sunday, when surrogate Sen. Lindsey Graham raised the issue and proposed a joint McCain/Obama trip to the region as a solution. (McCain has visited eight times to Obama's one.) McCain told the Associated Press Monday that he hopes to use such a venture to "educate" Obama. The Republican National Committee joined in today, posting a clock of the days elapsed since the likely Democratic nominee visited Iraq.

McCain reiterated that appeal, saying of the proposed trip with Obama, "I would be glad to go with him because these issues are far more important than any election. The security of this nation is far more important than any political campaign."

He read aloud the Obama camp's strongly-worded reaction statement, in which spokesman Bill Burton derided the offer as a "political stunt" and called McCain's optimism about the war a "false promise."

"That is a profound misunderstanding of what's happened in Iraq and what's at stake in Iraq," McCain retorted.

"I will never surrender in Iraq," he added, "I will not let that happen."

Surrender??? what the heck is this old geezer talking about. The WAR is and has been over for a while now. Please have someone tell him that we have WON!

What we are doing now is considered "mopping up", establishing and training a new government and fighting some "minor" conflicts and hunting down small groups of Terrorist.

We have switch from full blow war over 4 years ago, now it is all about the war on Terror.

We already won the Iraq War. When do you think we will win the war on Terror???? I don't think that will ever happen since it is like looking for snakes under rocks.

Wake up old man!

There is no need to go to Iraq.

Obama might as wel go on a trip with McCain and Graham. Goodness knows, they'll only go to the very safest spots and see only the very best of conditions.

Just the other day he said "We're winning in Iraq."

Today he talks about surrender.

So which is it? Are we winning? Losing? Which?

This is political pandering at its absolute worst: when American troops' lives are on the line.

I have a feeling -- actually fairly certain -- that Scott McClellan's book has really scared the Right and we are about to see a ramping up of the FEAR rhetoric over the next couple of weeks. It's going to be mushrooms clouds from Iran and fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here and all that BS all over again. Mark my words... I hope I'm wrong, but the way things are going with McBush and President Crackhead, I wouldn't put it past them. At least the vast majority of Americans can see through their lies now......

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time,
but you can not fool all of the people all of the time." ~ Abraham Lincoln

"Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." ~ NOT Abraham Lincoln

No wonder the enemies like obama

Dr James Cone's Description of BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY, from his book "BLACK POWER AND BLACK THEOLOGY", used as the basis for the vision statement of Obama's Church, Trinity United:

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . . Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

Among the Obamas' charitable donations in 2007 was $26,270 to Trinity United Church of Christ.

Mr. McCain wake up. There is no need to go to Iraq or any other middleeastern country only if we can bring down the price within 6 months to less than 2.5 $ a gallon if we were to reduce the consumption by 20% which is very easily achievable if every American cuts down on oil usage by driving and flying less by using bicycles for short distance requirements and public transport for long distance requirements also reducing our heating requirements. This will teach the middleeastern countries and american oil companies a good lesson and also save americans lot of money.

Love our Senator McCain. He talks about everything that is insignificant. Senator Obama hasn't been in Iraq in over a year. Well Senator McCain, you continue to court the President and his failed policy in Iraq. Senator McCain has indicated that he will be in Iraq for 100 years and then changed his words but not his thinking....And Senator McCain has allowed our president to do the fundraising. Can't the senator and his multimillionaire family member raise their own money. You cannot have it both ways....Either you believe in this presidency or you don't. Either you allow the Bush Administration to help you bring in more funds and continue the Iraq policy or you don't. It was just great how Senator McCain kept the press out of the latest fundraising event. Is it because you were telling the fundraisers that you will continue the fight just like your partner President Bush. The American people do not believe in this war, the president's former press secretary told it like it was, and the Senator maintains the same philosophy of a war that will continue to drain the resources of 95% of all Americans.

I am glad to hear about Senator McCain's policies because the more he uses President George Bush for raising funds and the more he talks about Iraq and the more he does not support the new Veteran's bill along with his president, the better we all like his chances of not becoming the next president of the United States.

Grandpa McCain its very important you take Liberman along as he will prompt you whenever you make mistakes when differentiating between Sunnis and Shias militants.
Can you beleive guys he doesn't even know basics of who belongs to which terrorist groups and claims that we should stay put in Iraq.
You are even worse than Bush.

Days since the Want-A-Be-Commander-In-Chief, BHO has visited the troops in Iraq, unreal! You will never hear this on the No Barack Criticism channel. It is hard to imagine the individual who wants to be the leader of this country cannot find the time to visit with the men and woman who make this the greatest country on earth. Now I know the spinners out there will say, he has been busy with the campaign and doing other noble work. Really? John McCain has been there 8 times during this same timeframe! BHO could find the time to visit (vacation) in the Virgin Islands, hang out with his friends in San Francisco, and maybe spend some time in Berkley, seems he found time to do everything but spend time with the troops in Iraq. And now that puppet-boy’s strings have been pulled on this issue; he announces plans to visit this summer! WHAT A JOKE.
This is the most indecisive person I have ever seen, he is a puppet. Just pull his string and he dances just the way you want him too, how funny.
For example:
When pushed about not visiting Iraq – pull the string, now he is planning a trip.
When pushed about his “like an uncle” reverend – pull the sting, and he throws the person who baptized his kids and married him and his wife away like a used tissue! Nice job puppet-boy!
When pushed about wearing the flag pin – pull the sting and now he can’t take it off!
When pushed about meeting with the leader of Iran – pull the string, and now he will decide exactly who he will meet with at a later date, I guess he is waiting to see which way the wind blows!
And why we are on the subject of pulling his strings...when is the Junior Senator from Illinois going to release his medical records? There were cries for John McCain’s and he released them, (the person is in great shape by the way). Why no records from BHO? Is he hiding something? I mean we all know he was a smoker for well over 20 years, maybe he has a health issue he doesn’t want us to know about? Whatever the reason, it looks ridiculous when you are in your 40’s and push to have your 72-year old opponent release his medical records and you don’t. I am not worried however, I know a few tugs on his string and the puppet will be dancing!
All of this is very humorous and I enjoy sharing it with you all. The only thing that is not funny is that so many people are oblivious to this person and are willing to blindly follow their new messiah. It reminds me of Jim Jones and what happened in Guyana, and how his believers followed him with the same blindness. And no, I don’t think BHO is a cult leader, it is just sad when the people are incapable of seeing the king is naked.

McCain is asking Obama to go with him to Iraq. McCain must need Obama to tell him the difference between the tribes. McCain is telling us that Iraq is safer as he wears his bullet proof gear and has armed helicopters flying overhead. He will NOT SURRENDER! Surrender from what, an occupation? He should be focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan, as Obama says. Just when has Obama had the time to visit Iraq? He's been campaigning for a year and a half.

This is sort of out of date today isn't it? I mean, now that Scott McClellan came out with his book, in which he verifies the war was waged on purpose under the impression there were WMD's, there is no reason to go on with the con game the Republicans call a war.

McCain cannot say he'll never surrender in a "war" which has been phony from the beginning. He couldn't possibly expect anyone to take an action except to bring our soldiers home, because we were lied to and have no reason to stay. Bush needs to apologize to the American people for outright lying to them and the Iraqi people, and start bringing the military back
right now.
