Team HRC: "The Mountain State Is Used To Picking Winners"

Re: Why West Virginia Matters

With a record turnout expected in today’s primary, West Virginia Democrats will make clear who they believe is the strongest candidate to take on Sen. McCain in the Fall.

The Mountain State is used to picking winners. Every nominee has carried the state’s primary since 1976, and no Democrat has won the White House without winning West Virginia since 1916.

Democrats carried West Virginia in 1992 and 1996, but lost the state—and the White House--in 2000 and 2004. Hillary has predicted victory against Sen. McCain in West Virginia based on the strength of her economic message.

Given the attempts by our opponent and some in the media to declare this race over, any significant increase in voter turnout, coupled with a decisive Clinton victory, would send a strong message that Democrats remain excited and energized by Hillary’s candidacy.

In the face of grim poll numbers, the Obama campaign has attempted to dismiss today’s outcome despite the fact that Sen. Obama has outspent us on advertising, has more staff in the state, and more than double the number of offices.

He has also benefited from the support of the most high-profile endorsers in West Virginia—Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Congressman Nick Rahall. By every measure, the Obama campaign has waged an aggressive campaign in the Mountain State.

Despite being the so-called “presumptive nominee” and benefiting from these advantages, Sen. Obama has been unable to close a significant gap in the polls.

Sen. Clinton has already won Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and Michigan. With a win in West Virginia, Sen. Clinton will have once again proven her greater ability to win in the key swing states.

Please...she has not won Michigan. And not Florida for that matter. The only way she can win those states is by cheating and bending the rules. That about sums up Hillary Clinton. Who in their right mind would want someone who signs that those states won't count and then tries to get them even though only her name was on the ballot. She lacks common ETHICS. Read the net...other countries are watching this....how would we look in their eyes if we allow her to become tyhe nominee by fraud. Oh yes, and check out the Clinton Fraud Trial/Peter Paul. With Obama we stand a chance of becoming the Great USA again. Certainly not with Hillary.

Re: Why West Virginia Doesn't Matter

Senator Obama is 150 delegates away from securing the Democratic nomination. Senator Clinton needs 328 delegates. West Virginia only had 28 pledged delegates, so even if Clinton wins every one of them Obama will still have a substantial lead in pledged delegates. Fifty one primaries have been held, more than 90 percent of pledged delegates have been allocated, and Obama leads by every measure. Clinton would have to get every single voter in West Virginia and Kentucky to vote for her to make any kind of a dent in Obama's popular vote lead. So no, West Virginia doesn't really matter and will not change the eventual outcome of this race.

And please stop with this silly "every nominee/president has won state X since the dawn of time" line. West Virginia is so small that it has no discernible impact on vote totals. And anyone with a rudimentary understanding of correlation and causation can see straight through that faulty bit of logic.

Clinton takes Indiana by a ‘razor’ and Obama wins North Carolina by a huge margin. Nevertheless, Kentucky, Montana and West Virginia are still to come.

The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates

If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven't done so yet, please write a message to each of your state's superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...

Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !
