"Obama Love"
Doesn't this new John McCain vid ...
... remind you of this?
Can John McCain get a humor bump off of his campaign's newest vid? Much as Hillary Clinton did when SNL ran the Tina Fey weekend update commentary and two sympathetic sketches about the Dem debates ...

This makes McCain look like 12th grader in the corner of the prom ballroom, whining about his lack of prospects in getting laid that night
It makes the media look like the flack/hacks they are.
Actually, I thought it was the funniest thing the McCain campaign has done so far.
Of course, that's a very low bar to leap over.
On a more serious note, you need to remember that in this day and age, media is targeted, not one-size fits all. So, who's the target? That's the key to figuring out why they did this (and if it was a smart move or not).
If the McCain campaign is using this to goose the media, it's likely not going to have any effect, which is why the compilation doesn't remind me of the SNL piece. SNL, by holding up a mirror, really did have an impact on the media. Nobody likes to be laughed at by someone who has a genuine sense of humor. This, not so much.
On the other hand, if the McCain people are using it to energize their base (which needs some love of its own), then it's probably exactly what they need to be doing. If you can't get them excited about the candidate, then you have to get them mad at the opponent, and that's what this piece will do.
