Obama On McCain's "Celeb" Ad
Barack Obama, boarding his bus after a stop at The Bell Restaurant in Lebanon, MO, answers a reporter's question about John McCain's new TV ad, "Celeb":
"You know, I don't pay attention to John McCain's ads. Although I do notice that he doesn't seem to have anything to say very positive about himself. He seems to only be talking about me. You need to ask John McCai what he's for, not just what he's against."

I am a disabled Vet (with service connected terminal cancer) who has been in the adjudication process for 18 years. The VA has firewalls in place that make it impossible to talk to a human being. My attorney faces the same firewall situation as you will read from his response to my inquiries about the silent treatment I have been getting.

REF: Lloyd,
No silent treatment, at least not in the junior high sense. We try to
respond to all substantive inquiries; sometimes if we read your
communication as chiefly venting, and there is nothing we can really
say, we don't respond. It doesn't mean we're ignoring you or that we've
forgotten you're out there, frustrated and annoyed. It just means we're
really busy and don't have anything assuaging to say. We're frustrated,
too, when we can't get the machinery of the all wise and provident
government to move on our clients' matters. [I have another client
awaiting an attorney fee reimbursement that is pending resolution of an
EAJA dispute at the court; case has been sitting in chambers, fully
briefed, since April -- no action. One of the staff attorneys told me a
month ago she suspected it would finish "soon." What can I do, stage a
sit-in outside the judge's chambers?]
Part of the hold up in your case was the delay in getting the forms
filled out by you and submitted. Now that they have them, all we can do
is hound them within the limits of discretion, i.e. to the point of
diminishing returns.
