The Goreacle On The U.S. Energy Crisis
Al Gore will speak in Washington Thursday about his vision for addressing America's energy needs. The talk, held at D.A.R. Constitution Hall, will be hosted by the "We" Campaign, an organization devoted to solving the climate crisis.
From the event announcement:
"The speech will offer a new way of thinking about our energy production and consumption and a new sense of what is possible when we choose to work together. It will propose a means of tapping America's innovative
skills to build a more secure energy future."
Scheduled for high noon.

The United States could have been free of our dependence on foreign oil decades ago.
Two industries have a vested financial interest in making sure it never happens: the oil industry for obvious reasons and the automobile industry for not as obvious reasons.
Electric motors run for multiple decades with virtually no maintenance. When is the last time the readers had to replace the motor in their
electric refrigerator? Probably never.
Electric vehicles have no filters to replace, spark plugs, radiators or exhaust system. Electric vehicles would last for decades. Our current
automotive industry is dependent upon buyers replacing their cars every few years.
Electric cars and air-powered cars (search www.youtube.com for "air car") would make the oil industry and petroleum-powered cars obsolete.
Will the oil industry and automotive industry do everything in their power to make sure that electric and air-powered cars are not sold in
the United States? Yes.
If only Al Gore had been in a position of power for eight years, then he would have done something.
Haha. Yeah, fly, if only.
But thanks for helping elect the Anti-Christ.
That worked out real well.
Just imagine. We would be 8 years down the road to sustainability. And there would never have been an Iraq War. No Guantanimo, no Abu Ghraib, no Blackwater, no torture, no roll back of habeus corpus, no warrantless spying, no trillions of dollars spent, no 4000+ American casualties, no timetable for withdrawal, etc etc etc.
It would be a completely different world. We CANNOT elect another Republican President. We simply cannot afford it as a society.
How can an ostensibly impartial news site get away with using the wingnuts' preferred mocking nickname for Al Gore in its headlines?
"If only Al Gore had been in a position of power for eight years, then he would have done something."
Yeah right. Al Gore is a psudo-polical figure who expouses idealisic goals and demands. If he had been in a position of power he would realize how polically, economically, and scientifically impossible his ideals truely are. Not only can he not attain a position of power (defeated in '88 as well as '00) but he prefers to comment from the outside so he is not held accountable for his outragous claims and demands.
a taxpayer voting for a liberal is like chicken voting for col. sanders. Al Gore is a nut and Global Warming is a scam. We're not causing it. Do you think carbon release from cars ended the ice age? Global temperatures are cyclical. We'd be independent right now if tree hugging democrats would have let us drill back when Clinton was in office. Republicans aren't much better but at least they have some sort of plan. Nancy Pelosi is a complete idiot. How in the world could congress have a lower job approval raiting than George Bush? Because they suck.
Electric Cars. that's funny. i'd like to see an electric engine power a semi and pull the trailers that deliver your food every day. or power a tractor or farm truck. where do you plan on putting all the windmills to provide electricity to your house and your cars... YOU'RE STILL USING COSTLY ENERGY. We're dependent on oil right now so we need to start drilling at home and release some of the reserves until someone comes up with a feasible alternative. the alternative needs to be introduced thru the free market and if it's cost efficient people will stop buying gas driven cars and buy the new magical vehicle. the evolution of the vehicle will happen but we need to do what's best NOW.
