Dem Ticket On Palin: "Old Barriers Are Falling"

Barack Obama and Joe Biden issued a joint statement a few moments ago welcoming Sarah Palin to the WH contest:

“We send our congratulations to Governor Sarah Palin and her family on her designation as the republican nominee for Vice President. It is yet another encouraging sign that old barriers are falling in our politics. While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward Governor Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign."

What, after they insulted her?

This only AFTER the Obama campaign attacked her (as well as all small-town Americans ans women). At least McCain's congratulations are sincere.

"Old Barriers Are Falling"?

what are they talking about?

Palin is a ethically corrupt governor who is being investigated at this time.

She is a creationist and is against abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

She has ZERO experience with foreign policy.

What barriers is DNC talking about?

Evidently Barry and Joe got some 'instant feedback' on their earlier comments and are now dowing what reporters used to call 'back pedaling'.

Norm,

Get your facts straight. She is not an "ethically challenged governor". She has continually taken on corruption in government and won, including her own party. She has consistently shown the highest ethics possible.

A now for a little tap-dancing interlude from Barry & Joe.

bla bla bla more identity politix. can i has moar "did i mention im blak" from barry hussein plz

Palin is currently under investigation for firing AK ex-Public Safety Commis. Walt Monegan, who told the Anchorage Daily News that he felt pressured by the governor's office to fire Palin's ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, “a trooper who had been locked in a child-custody battle with Palin’s sister.” Palin denies she pressured Monegan to fire Wooten. However, Palin senior aide, Frank Bailey, was recently placed on paid administrative leave after it was learned he’d made several calls to Wooten’s boss, trooper Lt. Rodney Dial.

Palin played a recorded copy of one of the calls to the press on 8/13. In it, Bailey "clearly pressures the lieutenant." Bailey "told him during the conversation that Palin and her husband want to know why Wooten still has a job." Bailey: "Todd and Sarah are scratching their heads, 'Why on earth hasn't this, why is this guy still representing the department?' He's a horrible recruiting tool, you know" (Cockerham, Anchorage Daily News, 8/14).

Palin has history of questionable police firings.

Per AP she fired Police Chief Irl Stambaugh because he supported her election opponent John Stein.

Palin puts Obama on the defensive just one day after descending from Mt. Olympus. PUMAs will have a field day with this. I'm starting to think that somebody in the McCain campaign has some brains.

Wonderful pick John McCain ....Stand-by for the November landslide.

Ethically challenged? LOLOLOLOLOL. This from an obvious follower of the Obama. The same Obama who attended the "God Damn America" church and hung out with weather underground terrorists. You're joking, right?

Hey Norm, "Palin is a ethically corrupt governor who is being investigated at this time."

Where did you get that priceless piece of info, Keith or Chris? Or did you just make it up, like Obama does?

Sorry Barry. This "Bible clinging, gun clinging, small-town" Mom isn't buying what you're selling.

McCain/Palin '08

For the 1st time in my adult life, I am Proud of the Republican party

For the 1st time in my adult life, I am Proud of the Republican party

Under the heading of "Sarah Palin on Foreign Policy" at the On The Issue site for her, this is what's listed:

"No issue stance yet recorded by OnTheIssues.org."

"Not Ready '08", eh?

I love the pick...I was questioning mccain for awhile there, this just got me pumped up...People keep saying this devastates McCains experience argument...I think it makes it stronger for him. She has done more in her 7 years than obama has done in his 9. Remember when obama says its not so much experience as judgment...and now he is backpedaling saying she doesnt have enough experience...well which one is it Obama...because clearly you dont have either :)

"Palin played a recorded copy of one of the calls.."

If she's corrupt, why would she play a recording for the press to hear? Does that sound like she's got something to hide?

Why not explain why Barry doesn't want a certain radio station reporter to look into certain dealings amounting over 5 million dollars spent to better the Chicago education system....which by the way, from all reports, is still in the toilet?

At last we have something to truly set before the world as a ethical but diverse ticket. It's shear genious McCain camp. And during the week of the anniversy of Women's sufferage. Obama sure has messed up with this temple and v p pick. Now we know why McCain had such a big grin yesterday in that wonderful ad to congradulate Obama. He successfully popped every Liberal Dem balloon of this past week with one single stroke.
It's good to be American and apple pie and diverse. McCain/Palin 08....let's roll Straight Talk Express.

Liberals believe everything because they don't believe in anything.

LOL, norm and the other Obot trolls can't be bothered to get the facts straight. Here's what they have on Sarah Palin, and btw, this is ALL they hav on Sarah Palin:

The State Trooper in question is her ex-brother in-law. The person who fingered her is ex-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The imporant part of his title is "EX". Why, one may ask, is he an EX commissioner? Because Monegan, a crony and political appointee of the previous administration's was fired for malfeasance. Why, he has no axe to grind does he?

BTW, the reason, or should I say reasons, the trooper was fired?

Poaching: He was caught hunting moose out of season, he shot a cow-moose.

DUI in a State Vehichle: He was pulled over while in his Highway Patrol car drunk as a skunk.

Child Abus: He has been charged with using his taser on his 11-year-old-son.

So let's see... In order to smear Sarah Palin the O-bots will take the side of a drunken criminal who abuses children. Right.

Stay Classy Obamatrons. That sound you hear is the thundering sound of disaffected Hillary voters running, not walking, away from your man as we speak.

McCain should have choosen Romney. I can't support this ticket that has a tax-increaser on the ticket.

From the Seattle Times:

Palin increased Taxes

Republicans in Congress this June united to defeat a proposed windfall tax on oil companies, deriding it as a bad idea that would discourage investment in U.S. oil exploration.

Things worked out far differently in the GOP stronghold of Alaska, a state whose economic fate is closely tied to the oil industry.

Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry -- a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

Ha The Dem's are loosing and they are all going down on a sinking ship.

Ha The Dem's are loosing and they are all going down on a sinking ship.

The McCain ticket suddenly became very sexy. Hot choice by the Maverick.

Yes, Palin is being investigated for her scandal

According to Anchorage Daily News:

Hired help will probe Monegan dismissal

www.adn.com/monegan/story/478090.html

$100,000: Legislators vote to have independent investigator look into Palin's controversial firing.

JUNEAU -- Alaska legislators on Monday voted to spend up to $100,000 to investigate Gov. Sarah Palin's controversial firing of former state Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.
The decision came from the Legislative Council, a bipartisan panel of state senators and representatives.

The committee itself will not conduct the probe. Rather, it will hire an independent investigator to explore whether Palin, her family or members of her administration pressured Monegan to fire an Alaska state trooper involved in a rough divorce from Palin's sister.

Monegan contends he did feel such pressure, and the question for the investigator will be whether Monegan might have lost his job for failing to dismiss trooper Mike Wooten.

Palin abruptly fired Monegan on July 11 and later explained she wanted to take the Department of Public Safety in a different, more energetic direction. She replaced him with Chuck Kopp, the former Kenai police chief. But Kopp resigned Friday over questions about a reprimand he received after a sexual harassment complaint lodged against him in Kenai.

The Legislative Council is a panel of lawmakers who tend to legislative business when lawmakers are not meeting in regular session.

On Monday, the council voted 12-0 to spend up to $100,000 "to investigate the circumstances and events surrounding the termination of former Public Safety Commissioner Monegan, and potential abuses of power and/or improper actions by members of the executive branch."

Although absent from the council meeting Monday, Sen. John Cowdery, R-Anchorage, took part in the hearing via teleconference; he did not cast a vote. Cowdery, who is under federal indictment on bribery and conspiracy charges, formerly was chairman of the Legislative Council but resigned last week, citing health problems.

Supporters as well as detractors of the Republican governor generally agreed the legislative investigation is needed into the circumstances leading up to Monegan's dismissal.

"There's a big question about what happened. The public wants to know what happened," said Fairbanks Democratic Rep. David Guttenberg, a Legislative Council member. "There's something that doesn't quite smell right. The governor's not going to appoint a special prosecutor to look at whether she's abused power."

Senate President Lyda Green, a Wasilla Republican and member of the Legislative Council, said the investigation is "absolutely" needed.

It Sounds Like a Harriet Miers Decision. Let's Find a Woman, Whether She's Experienced or Not".

Here are the comments from Conservatives at National review:

Byron York, quoting a "Republican insider":

The cautious reaction: She better be good on the stump. If Palin makes any serious mistakes, this insider points out, they will immediately be attributed to her inexperience. A few of those could turn into conventional wisdom. She has a big upside if she's really good, but a big downside if she's not.

Jonah Goldberg:

I agree entirely with readers who think Palin has vulnerabilities on the experience issue.

Ramesh Ponnuru:

Palin has been governor for about two minutes. Thanks to McCain’s decision, Palin could be commander-in-chief next year. That may strike people as a reckless choice; it strikes me that way. And McCain's age raised the stakes on this issue.

Ramesh Ponnuru:

As a political matter, it undercuts the case against Obama.

Ramesh Ponnuru:

Tokenism. Can anyone say with a straight face that Palin would have gotten picked if she were a man?

Kathryn Jean Lopez:

Why did McCain float the pro-choice trial balloon? As I suspected, just to make us get on our knees in gratitude when it wasn't an abortion-rights supporter?

Jonah Goldberg quoting an emailer:

"Forgive the dissent from all the euphoria, but don’t you think the MSM will go into overdrive to turn Palin into the 2008 version of Katherine Harris? One misstep by Palin at the outset and McCain could be cooked." Jonah's response was "could be ..."

Kathryn Jean Lopez:

Palin doesn't irritate me the way some other choices would have. What's already irritating me though is the suggestion that women will run to her because she's a woman. Pro-life Palin is going to be a hard sell for liberal feminists, even if she has a uterus.

Jonah Goldberg (discussing pros and cons):

The way she talks. She has something of a native Alaskan's accent/speaking style. When I heard her speak last month, I was stunned by how parochial she sounds, not substantively, but stylistically.

Palin has history of questionable police firings.

Per AP she fired Police Chief Irl Stambaugh because he supported her election opponent John Stein.

Love this..

Can anyone say with a straight face that Palin would have gotten picked if she were a man?

Why would Hillary supporters run to a candidate who shares no values or political positions in common with Cliton? Because they share some anatomy? You desperate fringe conservatives betray staggering sexism without even realizing how offensive you're being.

Oh I love this..

Can anyone with a trait face say that Barry would have gotten picked if he was white?

Oh I love this..

Can anyone with a trait face say that Barry would have gotten picked if he was white?

So, what, did Rush tell the neocon ditto-heads to all post here?

It is obvious that many of the posts here are part of a coordinated campaign by the GOP operatives to emulate real conservative Americans.

It's sad and it's sick.

Who do you trust, America, yourself? Or partisan operatives telling you how you should feel?

As one who remains uncommited, I am now leaning toward the McCain ticket.

I don't have time to read all the comments, but is it true that cop was beating up Palin's sister?

With the announcement of Palin, Obama is guaranteed the loss. Tough luck there Barry.

Maybe you can try again in 2020 (yes, after McCain's 4, and Palin's 8)

Sarah loves Ivana Trump.

Here is a story from 1996:

Sarah Palin, a commercial fisherman from Wasilla, told her husband on Tuesday she was driving to Anchorage to shop at Costco. Instead, she headed straight for Ivana.

And there, at J.C. Penney's cosmetic department, was Ivana, the former Mrs. Donald Trump, sitting at a table next to a photograph of herself. She wore a light-colored pantsuit and pink fingernail polish. Her blonde hair was coiffed in a bouffant French twist.

''We want to see Ivana,'' said Palin, who admittedly smells like salmon for a large part of the summer, ''because we are so desperate in Alaska for any semblance of glamour and culture.''

Ivana Trump, the former Czechoslovakian Olympic skier who found fame and wealth as the wife of the New York tycoon, came to Anchorage Tuesday to push her line of perfume.

More than 500 people waited as long as half an hour in J.C. Penney to chat with her and receive an autographed photo.

@ Adam - of course they will, it's the same reason they'll vote for Obama. They're totally ignorant of the issues, it's just a popularity/they make me feel good choice. My coworker today said "who cares about policies? I like how Obama gives speeches."

Scary stuff...

Plain has been governor for anout 18 months and out of that she was pregnant for more than 9 months. Talk about experience in governing.

McCain shoukd withdraw her and nominate Romney, otherwise he should forget my vote.

Nice try Ethan, but we are true are true fiscal conservatives that understand that Barry’s economic policy will be catastrophic for this nation. Any one whom has a objective understanding of our economy, understands that you cannot raise taxes exponentially on a soft economy. Even Bill Clinton understood that if you raise taxes, you must curb spending. Barry will not only raise taxes across the board, including capital gains which will curb any growth, but also spend insane amounts on entitlement programs.

Too funny. First she was some nothing from a no-name Alaska burg, and now she's "congratulations, Governor Palin".

Obambi and Greasy Joe are the stupidest team we've seen in a long, long time. But they'll have a long, long time to consider their stupidity when they get their asses handed to them in November.

Hopefully, Illinois voters will wake up to the crime syndicate that is the Illinois Demorat machine, and send him back to the general assembly, which is about his speed. Marxist twit.

Stupid pick, reaks of desperation. This brings back memories of the Ferraro pick. McCain looks like her great grandpa, lol! Who knows it might just be crazy enough to work, but somehow I dont think so.

I agree with Romney and Pawlenty that McCain used them. Shame on McCain. Romney would have been a great choice.

Palin Pick Leaves Bruised Feelings

By Anne E. Kornblut

DENVER -- Though it was high in shock value, the Palin pick left bruised feelings among the short-list contenders who were not picked -- and infuriated some Republican officials who privately said McCain had gone out on a limb, unnecessarily, without laying the groundwork for such an unknown. Two senior Republican officials close to Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty said they had both been rudely strung along and now "feel manipulated."

"They now know that they were used as decoys, well after McCain had decided not to pick them," one Republican involved in the process said.

Gee... Obama could have knocked down old barriers, but he chose Biden.

"Old Barriers Are Falling"?

what are they talking about?

Palin is a ethically corrupt governor who is being investigated at this time.

She is a creationist and is against abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

She has ZERO experience with foreign policy.

Norm | 08.29.08 01:51 PM

Norm,

You're hilarious when you're scared.

I wonder how these talking points highlighting a lack of experience are going to work for you guys.

I can't see how there could be any consequences.

It isn't even 4 hours since the announcement and already the moronic Dem's are speaking half truths and spreading lies that they haven't even investigated or they have and they are only telling the parts that suit them. You jackasses are scared and you are looking like the fools that you are. Here is a strong person and a Female and you guys can't stand it. As far as experience goes, the Dem's VP & Pres nominees are experienced in screwing the tax payers and speaking with forked tongues. On one hand you tell us that you are separating your selves from lobbyists and the normal insiders all the while your grabbing the money from the very lobbyists you talk about abandoning, but that convention was full of special interest groups and lobbyist, take T Bone Pickins and tell us he's only out for the country's good. That's all BS, you should look into his land deals in Texas and see how much money he loses if his vision for the future isn't realized, and why is the speaker of the house invested with her own money in his land and energy deals. You Dem's are pathetic and you are whats wrong with this country and you deserve what your gonna get in November which is LOOSE LOOSE LOODSE. GO McCain & Palin!!!

Just look at all the other threads on this blog.

OBVIOUSLY this link was posted on some blog that is inhabited by some of the 20% dead-enders who think Bush and McCain are just FANTASTIC for the country.

It is so obvious.

McShill doesn't even know where he lives and Palin doesn't have a clue what the VP does.

They've just handed the Presidency to Obama on a silver platter and now the GOP is in heavy damage control with a concerted GOTS effort (Get Out The Spin).

America sees through it "my friends". We want change. We need change. We need to elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Palin is a great pick for Conservatives. She is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-war. She has an infant with Down's syndrome, knew about it, and chose to keep the child. She has a son going to Iraq. She is the first woman on a Republican Presidential ticket. Conservatives will love this pick because it makes them "feel" good, and they will totally miss the glaringly obvoius pandering of this vacuous pick.

Palin, unknowingly, has just stepped into the position of being a Rovian scape-goat for the GOP's doomed '08 POTUS bid. I hope Rove's sinister political hackery will not cause a lash-back against Conservative women's importance in politicla affairs. In the short term, Palin is exciting and a Conservative standard bearer for women. In the long run, Rove may turn her into a cross bearer to suffer for women. Is she prepared for this? Is her family prepared for this?

As a Hillary supporter, I was incensed when she was not even OFFERED the VP slot.
I know her last window of opportunity will be in 2012, since John McCain has already stated he will serve only one term.
Therefore, I, along with countless millions of Hillary supporters, will give Mrs. Clinton that chance in 2012.
Go McCain!

Norm, you idiot, the trooper drove drunk IN HIS POLICE CAR. Don't let the facts get in the way of your blind obedience to The Golden Calf.

"As a Hillary supporter... blah blah blah" nice try Carol. Repubs are in full damage control mode.

Please!

LOOSE - opposite of tight
LOSE - opposite of win.

That drives me crazy!!

The looks on the faces and all hand wringing from CNN and MSNBC anchors------priceless!!!! but she doesn't have foreign policy experience-----aw, neither does "The One, we've Been Waiting For" It's a great day in America!

Right.

Can this be confirmed? I hope so because I was going to have a hard time voting for McCain but not now.

Shunha7878, Palin doesnt have to be smeared, just politely ignored. What was McCain thinking?

Palin and foreign policy experience. Hmm, she's the only governor whose state borders TWO foreign countries, one with whom she had to negotiate to bring the NG pipeline to reality - no one before made it happen.

There's nothing that can be thrown at her that can stick. Her AND her husband are both union members to start. She's from humble roots - her parents were teachers. The Democrats wish they had someone like her in their ranks, the Republicans NOMINATE them.

judging from the sexist, frothing at the mouth obama-bots, Palin is an excellent choice. At least she doesn't have a terrorist as a mentor, nor is she a plagiarist.

the fear on the left is palpable, and amusing!

Hey Norm, if you don't drink, start. You're gonna need it. Obama got pwn3d!!! The radio (talk radio) here in Knoxville is saying right now that they were going to talk about Obama's nomination today, but the Palin story is much bigger, so they shifted. Ha Ha Ha. Drink now, drink often. Otherwise you are going to be a basket case by November.

Go Palin. First real person in politics in a long time. McCain 2008, Palin 2012.

Go Palin. First real person in politics in a long time. McCain/Palin 2008, Palin/anybody 2012. Goodbye Hillary, the Dems and the media have done you in.

That's funny. Supporters of Obama/Biden call Palin unethical while overlooking Biden's serial plagiarism, and Obama's connection to known terrorists.

Enjoy the landslide this November dumbocrats, you've managed to nominate another leftist who has no chance of being elected president of a used Hugo dealership, never mind the USA.

It's good that Obama is concentrating on Palin's inexperience, because she has more executive experience than O'Biden combined.

Obama just LOST!

Some dork said Palin is corrupt. LOL! Go ahead, play that card so we can see more about Barry Osama's relations with Rezko and Ayers...."Thats a debate that I'm ready to have"...LOL!

Keep criticzing her...she has more executive experience that Biden or NoBama combined. So much for change, Biden was in DC while McCain was still in Hanoi....shall we keep going?

Besides all of that....We (McCain supporters) have the best political smear machine on our side...The Clintons! They arent going to let Obama win!! Esp, if McCain says during the campaign that he is in for one term!

Palin corrupt....HA! "Bring it on" or should I say today...."Mission Accomplished"...You liberals keep putting your worst candidates forward...First the Goracle..loser; then JFK in 04....complete joke and loser....now you have the only major candidate to ever sign on to the platform of the US Communist party platform and associated wiht Hamas and Bill Ayers......I think somewhere McGovern and Mondale are smiling!

Once again, the misogynists of the democrat party are putting down small town America, women, and those who don't call crime ridden cities their homes. Obama is a jerk, Biden is fool who doesn't know the difference between a brigade and a battalion. Let us remember that Sarah Palin went to Iraq BEFORE Barack Obama did. She is head of her states very active and very deployed national guard. The MEN in the democrat party have no class. Enough of the insults to working women.

ethan,
where did all these neo-cons come from? you've been babysitting this blog for the few months i've been reading it then all of a sudden BOOM - people actually start reading it. it has to be some kind of conspiracy.

i can finally say that i'll be voting for McCain not to be voting against obama but because he just made an excellent choice. and if the only argument against palin is that she fired some police officers and that she's not experienced enough to be number 2 then i think all you have to do is look at the experience of who the dems are running as their # 1 and obama's radical associations.

that's coming from a proud conservative.

You have got to be kidding me‼ How naïve to think that the majority of Hillary voters will vote for his platform just because he chose a woman… First of all Hillary voters are looking for leadership. Someone who could lead this country amidst all of the chaos this world is in. Hillary is tough, has back bone, experience, well versed in the politics of the house and senate. I’m not saying Mrs. Palin isn’t intelligent. However, is she the one we want to run this country in the event the old guy goes down? Wake up people! Smell the coffee!
OK… She was a point guard in high school and a member of the PTA. She hasn’t been in government long enough (mayor and govenor for 2yrs.) to even get her feet wet. Obama on the other hand, without his credentials as a Senator wipes the floor with her as a public servant. Did I mention she was a beauty contestant as well? What in God’s sweet name is McCain thinking? We need leadership not a sexy face.
I don’t think his own party member’s; at least some are going to be too happy with his choice. And if I were Governor Palin I would have been insulted to have been chosen just because I was a woman in order to further McCain’s presidential ambition.
Whereas, many seasoned republican candidates would have turned the invitation down, I feel she chose to become his running mate only for prestige and glory and nothing else.

Absolutely great choice. McCain/Palin in 08. Bye, bye Barrry, slink back to Chicago and make yourself scarce.

Absolutely great choice. McCain/Palin in 08. Bye, bye Barry, slink back to Chicago and Terrorist Ayres, Racist Wright and Crazy Pfleger.

Simple question:

How can a person who was a part-time mayor of a remote Alaskan village of 5,000 be ready to step in to run this country
in the eventuality that McCain can no longer perform those duties? McCain is 72 and has a long history of cancer.

Give me a break!

Het wtf...SHe has more executive experience that the TOP of your ticket....HA!

She WAS a mayor, she IS a Governor, SHE IS A COMMANDER IN CHIEF already!!!....Obama was a "community organizer"?? Whats that??

McCain volunteered his wife Cindy for topless and occasionally bottomless beauty contest at that Sturgis bike rally.

When McCain made his way through motorcycle enthusiasts, accompanied by his wife Cindy, he was surrounded by scores of beer drinking men and scantily clad women. McCain felt so comfortable at the event that he even volunteered his wife for the rally’s traditional beauty pageant, an infamously debauched event that’s well known to feature topless and bottomless women.

“I encouraged Cindy to compete,” McCain said to cheers. “I told her with a little luck she could be the only woman ever to serve as first lady and Miss Buffalo Chip.”

Respect for women? huh??

McCain treats women very badly. He joked about how much women love to be raped.

In a 1986 Tucson Citizen article recounting a joke about rape told by Sen. McCain. Speaking to the National League of Cities and Towns in Washington, DC, McCain while campaigning for senate allegedly said:

Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, “Where is that marvelous ape?”

Thanks McCain you just blew our chances at winning in November! Vote for Bob Barr!

I love the way people are attacking Palin as corrupt. There has been no findings as of yet, and unlike the dems and repubs in washington, she is co-operating fully with the investigation.

The one thing you don't want to do is mess with this woman. She may not get the Hillary supporters because she is a woman, but she will get them because of the way they treat her!!! Remember, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!"

McCain has called Cindy a "c * n t". In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, "You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c * n t." McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day.

hey McSame, how many houses do you have?

8 houses + a beauty queen as running mate = priceless

McCain Own Eight To Eleven Houses with combined value of $12,991,000

Here's our official list:

Arlington, VA: The McCains have a three-bedroom condo in Arlington, Virginia, for when McCain is in the DC area. It is valued at nearly $850,000. Total: One.

Arizona: Here's an example of how hard it is to keep track of how many houses McCain owns: The Arizona Republic reported in 2006 that the McCains bought two adjacent condominiums for $4.66 million, so they could combine them into a single mega-condo of over 6,000 square feet, for use as their main residence in Arizona. That's either one or two more. Total: Two to three.

Arizona: Cindy's corporation later bought another condo in the same building as the mega-condo, only on a different floor. Total: Three to four.

Coronado, CA: Then there are the two vacation condos they own in Coronado, California, which total $4.7 million. They initially just bought the first one, but Cindy decided to buy a second when her children began using the first one much more frequently. "So I bought another one," Cindy told Vogue. Total: Five to six.

Sedona, AZ: The McCains own a lot of three houses in their "Hidden Valley Ranch" area of Sedona, totaling over $1,081,000 in value, according to county records. This is the rustic location where McCain often entertains reporters and other guests. You can count this as anywhere from one to three houses -- one of them is a main residence, and the others are for guests and servants. Total: Six to nine.

La Jolla, CA: There's also their property in La Jolla, California, valued at over $1 million, where Cindy's aunt reportedly lives. (Fun fact: This is the same property for which the McCains were delinquent on their property taxes.) Total: Seven to 10.

Phoenix, AZ: Cindy's family trust also owns a $700,000 loft in Phoenix, which was purchased for use by their daughter Meghan after she graduated from college. As GQ put it, "the interior looks like a spaceship furnished by West Elm." Total: Eight to 11.

As it happens, there's still more. Cindy also owns other properties through her family corporations. But many of these are rental properties for homes and businesses. We've decided to take the conservative road, and not count rental properties towards the total, as they aren't really homes -- they're investments or sources of income.

So, depending on how you count it, the grand total of homes owned by the McCains is...

Eight to 11. At a combined value of $12,991,000.

"Speaking to the National League of Cities and Towns in Washington, DC, McCain while campaigning for senate allegedly said:"

Obama ALLEGEDLY said:

All women are hoes. Especially that ho Hillary.

McCain Barely Knows Running Mate Palin

Nothing undersocres the riskiness of Sen. John McCain's pick of a running mate than this fact: "In an interview with Roll Call two weeks ago, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said she had met presumptive GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain only once or twice."

Dan Gerstein sums up McCain's gamble: "He's betting his presidency on a naked political play for holdout Hillary supporters and other female swing voters - and hoping that a large share of these predominantly pro-choice women will ignore or overlook Palin's staunch pro-life, anti-stem cell views."

In case you were wondering, Palin owns three homes -- one is her family's main residence and the other two are for recreation, according to the Center for Public Integrity.

She will be McCain's Harriet Meyers. Both are Big losers!

Please withdraw her and put Mitt Romney on the ticket if you want to win.

Dear Norm | 08.29.08 01:51 PM.

You need to learn to stop squeezing your toothpaste at the wrong end. Palin unlike
The Big B O had dealings involving $14 mil in corrupt home purchases. Oh yeah remember Farrakan, Ayers, and G D Wrights? Get real. Oh I like B Os I am my brothers keeper part of his speech. His half brother living in a shack in Kenya with $12 per year must be exstatic. Time for your diaper change.

I cannot continue to support McCain if he is willing to trust a woman he has only met a couple of times and has ZERO foreign policy experience. My son is fighting in this war and I want to know that if something happened to McCain a QUALIFED experienced VP could step up to the plate and lead. 18 months (9 of which were dedicated to having a baby) as a Govenor and a PART-TIME Mayor of 8-9 thousand people does not put a lot of Faith in her ability to lead! NOT to mention the ethical issues circling most Alaska Republicans right now. WAKE UP McCain Put Romney on the Ticket and we can win this! COUNTRY FIRST remember! Russia is actively trying to undermine the USA and IRAN is on the horizon not to mention North Korea. YOU ARE GAMBLING WITH OUR FUTUR AND I will not pull the lever for Palin who has NO experience! McCain/Romeny 08 or stay home!

It's obvious from the comments that this is no slam dunk for either side. As a 54-yr-old woman who lived through pre Roe v Wade and the feminist movement, I don't see Palin as a heroine. As a women who chose not to try for a second child after 40 because of the risks of Downs Syndrome (I did not want to put my first child in the position of having to care for a disabled sibling if I died early), I question her judgement. Is she against birth control as well as abortion?
As an environmentalist, she is no Rachel Carson. Alaska is pro drilling because it makes everyone in the state a bit richer...but is it the best thing for the planet? In the 1860s the south was pro-slavery because it benefitted those states financially. Did that make it a just and worthy cause?
As a life-long democrat, I would not care who was running for Pres, I would work to get the Republicans out of power. No Clinton supporter worth their salt would help to keep anti-choice candidates in a position to stack the Supreme Court.
McCain and co. has gambled. We won't know how well until November.

I absolutely love how the obvious leftards here and the putatively McCain supporters--if he'd JUST PICK _________!!1!!--are all, to a person, the most ignorant, least-able-to-spell morons, ever. Yeah, liberals! Make your case with illegible screeds, FTW!1!!. Retards.

All of you supposed supporters of McCain who advocate for Romney are sock-puppets. Romney is a liberal RINO who expedited the most massive failure in single-payer health care (a signature plank of the Marxist Dimocraps) in the history of this nation. Wow! Yeah! True conservatives should rally behind that multi-millionaire socialist at once. Not.

Get over it. Your commie candidate and his sidekick Biden are losers. Always have been, always will be. I can't wait to see how violent you anti-American thugs become when your anti-American thug team loses the election. It is historical fact that you leftards are sore losers who resort to violence at the drop of your diapers. Idiots.

It seems to me that if you ran for office on a promise to clean up a corrupt administration and, when you’re elected, you fire an underling for not supporting your policy, that’s not abusing power, that’s carrying out a mandate. That seems to be what the Alaska courts said Mayor—and then Governor—Palin did. She started doing this at successive levels of government at the same time Mr. Obama started making speeches about how he would clean up government if you would just please promote him to a higher pay grade.

She and Obama have about the same number of years of experience—hers doing things like cleaning up her own party’s corrupt Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and his making really inspiring speeches.

Hey, everyone has a right to their opinions. I wish everyone would be respectful.

Ask about her experience? Sure. Require her to demonstrate her knowledge, confidence, and wisdom over the next couple of months? Sure. But, if McCain had been playing cards with her for years, then that would make her a competent choice? Please!!!

My take: I applaud McCain for stepping outside the box and giving a chance to a rising star. Would maybe a few more years have helped? To a point, but now if FINE. Thanks John. You have injected energy and progressiveness into the GOP side of the election. I can tell you that you have mobilized my family. I guess the trolls can do what they want.

Think about this. Obama has the support of Joe Biden who has been dealing wih international affairs since Palin was 9 years old. If Mccane kicks the bucket, someone who was the mayor of a 7000 person town 2 years ago will be on her own as the leader of the free world. If that doesn't make you nervous, see a doctor. This is the most important decision a candidate has to make and Mccpow BLEW IT!!

Kevin says: "If Mccane kicks the bucket, someone who was the mayor of a 7000 person town 2 years ago will be on her own as the leader of the free world. If that doesn't make you nervous, see a doctor."

Hey, why not go back to when she was point guard for her school's basketball team? Surely that doesn't qualify someone for president either.

BO has never run a 7000 person town, or a state either (actually, he has been on a couple of boards with terrorists, participated in shady real estate deals with crooks -- but IS a pretty good basketball player -- maybe a little one-on-one during the VP debate? It might be his only chance to look like not-a-fool). He also has gone, for 20 years, to a racist, marxist cult church (Black Liberation Theology = Marxism+Racism; Having to sign a pledge to join = cult) -- but hey, what do you expect for an alumnus of the corrupt Chicago Democrat machine?

Not to mention all the "experience" he got by voting "present" over a hundred times in the Illinois legislature. (Well, at least he was there -- perhaps he was playing solitare.)

It's laughable that the Dem spin is already starting to make excuses about BO losing because of his "race" -- the only thing this guy has going for him IS his race. Because of that, the Dems have nominated a pig in a poke, and they are starting to get nervous about it.

One lesson to take from the coming debacle is that as soon as a COMPETENT minority person runs for president, she/he will win in a landslide. (Colin Powell -- you had a chance to set the bar high enough that no one like BO would even be considered; perhaps your wife would reconsider in time for '12?)

And this is not the guy (VP) who MIGHT become president -- he's the one who would BE president.

Yeah, if that happens, we'll all need some heavy meds.

The Democrats could afford to be charitable concerning their comments about Palin. She's so corrupt that it's going to be a treat watching McCain try to explain his way out of the P*ss-poor decision he made in choosing her. What a laugher. Drunk husband, pregnant daughter, fires cops and other officials for divorcing her sister or opposing her politically. She's a Nazi, pure and simple....but apparently that's what McCain wants. What a joke...I loved the video of him sleeping sounding during Bush's last state of the union speech (Jan or Feb).

Palin is the real thing. I only wish she were at the top of the ticket.
McCain would still be President and if he has his mother's genes, he'll be around many more years.
OBAMA is it for me.
