HRC "Proud" Of Palin Pick

Hillary Clinton issued this statement a few moments ago about John McCain's running mate:

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin's historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain. While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”

She's just po'ed that Palin got the nod without having to do so on the coattails of her husband.

This is getting more interesting. The theory was Hil wanted a McCain win to run again in '12. However, what if McCain kicks the bucket during 1st term? Palin is the FIRST female Prez. There goes history.

Palin will also be a sitting VP in 2012. Hillary won't even try with all her negatives, if people can still remember who she is then.

Hermie hit the nail on the head.

Start now Palin for 2012

Puts Pelosi in her place.

Pelosi Hillary are washed up hasbins.

My guess is that Palin poses so big a threat to Hillary because she could actually take over for McCain after one term and then go on for another. Hillary would be how old? Yes, older than McCain is now. By then I'm sure her desire to ruin America will be gone.

"While their policies would take America in the wrong direction"

Says her...

Don't forget that McCain may not wish to run in 2012. Palin vs Clinton.

Ooh you people are sooo creepy!

awesome pick.
there is a reason she has an 80% approval rating. And the Dems are about to find out what that is...

Palin is no Hillary.

Palin is anti-science creationist.

Palin is against abortion even in cases of incest and rape.

She is against equal pay for women.

Now Palin is the running mate of McCain who calls his wife a "c*nt" and tell jokes about how women enjoy rape.

I'm all for any president who has the right ideas. Palin seems to have'em. Sure she's a woman, but she's a woman with a good head on her shoulders (and I say that in a non-chauvinistic way as possible). Some may have issues with her gender. I sure don't.

McCPain is screwed. The first assignment of picking a VP, he displays the error of judgment that has xterised his 26 yrs in the Senate.
He will pay for his folly come Nov 4th.

Of course she likes her, Palin may be the only woman in America who hasn't dated her husband.

Palin is corrupt like other Alaskan repubs like Stevens and Young.

Palin is currently under investigation for firing AK ex-Public Safety Commis. Walt Monegan, who told the Anchorage Daily News that he felt pressured by the governor's office to fire Palin's ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, “a trooper who had been locked in a child-custody battle with Palin’s sister.” Palin denies she pressured Monegan to fire Wooten. However, Palin senior aide, Frank Bailey, was recently placed on paid administrative leave after it was learned he’d made several calls to Wooten’s boss, trooper Lt. Rodney Dial.

In the recorded copy of one of the calls Bailey "clearly pressures the lieutenant." Bailey "told him during the conversation that Palin and her husband want to know why Wooten still has a job." Bailey: "Todd and Sarah are scratching their heads, 'Why on earth hasn't this, why is this guy still representing the department?' He's a horrible recruiting tool, you know" (Cockerham, Anchorage Daily News, 8/14).

Palin has history of questionable police firings.

Per AP she fired Police Chief Irl Stambaugh because he supported her election opponent John Stein.

Rush said it best...Hillary has been replaced yet again by another woman. It is sad for her..oh well...GO SARAH! We love you here in Nevada!

HEY,
What a chess match, skill VS BS and a WOMAN who know about OIL.
In TEXAS oil(710) is sometime pronounced earl.Drill it on a state by state basis, fund schools carefully from severance money, repair infrastructure.Sell the surplus to the Yankees at a fair rate,$6.00 for dems plus state, highway, federal,WW 11, green, and another tax they can think up,$2.25 to the locals,no TAX.
Cut sales tax and property tax, people would be moving to the earl(Oil)producing states so fast that the northeast would sound like a Hoover Cleaner.
Build ultra clean refineries such as Sinclair has done and develop our gift of wind and sunshine.
The blue states would sure want to establish good diplomatic relations with DIXIE and the wast clingie, bible thumpin', wild west.
Miss Sarah knows bout earl and how to use it wisely.
J.R.

Questionable police firings? Tom, seriously? You wouldn't try to "swift boat" a lady would you? Pathetic.

One thing that is obvious.

If McCain is such a conservative advocate, why does he need a 40-something pro-Oil pro-Life Hockey Mom to bolster his credentials?

Palin is no Hillary.

Man, take your meds. KOOL AID, get yer ice cold KOOL AID HERE

whow, the attacks on a woman who has done very well show just how angry and scared the liberals really are. GREAT!

Gary nailed it. Hillary! would not want to complete against Palin in 2012. And Hillary would be 69 years old in 2016. I only mention that because you Democrats keep pointing out that McCain is 72. Of course, if Hillary! did run in 2016, then it would be okay for an elderly person to run for office, becasue things would be, you know, different.

Question: Can a sitting president from either party run for re-election without a candidate running against from the same party? In other words, can another democrate run against Obama in four years in the event Obama wins and decides to run for re-election?
Thanks
Mark

Well now if we can get 90% of American women to vote for McCain/Palin, because Palin is a woman ... just like 90% of blacks voted for Obama because he is black ... this country would be in good shape.

who cares what billary thinks..GO PALIN!!!

who cares what billary thinks..GO PALIN!!!

McCain picks his women young and beautiful - so now we have a sexy babe that has been on the cover of Vogue for VP - nice refreshing change ... let the games begin.

BTW - I will be voting for OBAMA as I am fed-up with all the lies of the Bush years and the corruption.

Once a woman gets into office-and breaks the barriers all women running in future elections won't have that stigma to break again. Even though it's a four year strategy it will work for future elections. The question is who will break the barrier a "black" man or a woman?

I find this offensive. Hillary had the smarts and the experience. This babe has neither. Mrs Obamah has more education then this broad. Lets hope if elected ol John doesnt kick the bucket. I can see the soccor mom sitting at the UN talking about moose hunting on the north slop. If voting for someone because they are female is the only criteria then needed then we havent' come as far as I thought we had.

Give me the soccer mom over the divisive angry duo of Mr. and Mrs. Obama. Smith you said it all with your need to impress the UN with a talking head at the table. I believe the word (broad) should be reserved to describe Obama's position on every topic. This guy has a great vision for the country, unfortunately he has no idea how to acomplish the wonderful results.

I can't believe McCain killed his number one attack against Obama and the only one that was truly working. He basically just nominated someone who has less experience then my city council members in my city of one hundred thousand.

Palin is 44, was mayor of a town of 8500 people and Governor of the 47th most populated state (680,000 people) for two years. Her life before that was as a soccer mom and a PTA member (Parent-Teacher Association). Mayors of large cities have more experience than Palin.

Obama is 47, was a community organizer, taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School, was a memeber of the Illinois legistlature for 8 years, the 5th most populated state in the US (12,852,548 people), with one of the largest and most diverse cities, and now is a US senator. He basically has the same experience that President Kennedy had and more than President Lincoln (arguably the same skills and talents).

McCain has been in the Senate forever, lets be honest.

For McCain to have attacked Obama's debatable, but historically acceptable experience as too little to run President for months (a fair attack to use), only to appoint someone with less experience than many municipal officials when he's 72 and could very well not finish a term, seems like utter hypocrisy and knee capping to me. By putting someone so new and inexperienced in such a high position, gives scale to the "experience o-meter," actually highlighting the experience Obama does have that has been disregarded.

Remember, McCain is the one who was using the experience card, not Obama. It was the most simplistic, forceful, consistent and valuable attack he had. You can't use it if your replacement if anything happens to you is not much more expeienced than a town mayor. Don't get me started on some of her contradictions, that troopergate scandal, the blatantly obvious/shameless appeal to women and that she's pretty much the opposite of Hillary Clinton in all apects but gender.

Hillary should not worry. Palin is just a McBush pawn. Used as "shock and awe" factor to distract attention from Obama's convention and to lure Clinton voters. Look, she has no foreign policy experience, relatively unknown and said to be under investigation for ethics violations. Therefore, she pulls in the votes, steps down indicating a need to "take care of her sick child" while the "real" pick (good ole boy) steps in hoping to the finish race. Good Luck.....

Gina, that's a no brainer!!

What would black women do????

I am a Clinton supporter and we are all proud of Sarah Palin.

Obamabots want a cat fight, but instead what they are going to get is another losing Presidential election.

And, what?
THEN Democrats will suddenly appreciate the power of the Clintons to win elections for their sorry asses, four years too late? LOL!

Hillary Clinton is one of the few people in the world who doesn't have to be President to have power.
She doesn't need the DNC.
The DNC needs her.
Too late.

No matter how much the Democrats call now for unity, the answer is still PUMA.

If HRC runs against SP in 2012, are all of you Democratic Party Clinton Haters finally going to get on board with the other 18 million of us?
You do, you win.
You don't, you lose.
It's that simple.

HC is only saying the required about Palin but i can tell you this, in the coming months she will eat Palin for lunch. HC got slapped but putting Palin in front of her is a slug to the nose. She won't sit still for it. Palin is no match. On top of that McCain has proved his point of little respect for women by expecpting her to help him woo the women who are for him out of pure spite. ROVE VS WADE . Reversed. Does that sit well with spite? NO I'm quite sure HC will have plenty to say to women for McCain (Past HC supporters) now and it ain't gonna be good.

Jan: No we are not "all" proud of Palin. Personally I feel she will push us back a hundred years. She's non-experienced and it will show. Obama has it hands down for sure now. I can't believe you et al would accept her as an equal to HC. Now that is pure idiocy AND HYPOCRISY. HC supporter. You were/are not. You obviously voted only because she's a woman, not for what she stood for. I'm ashamed of you and all my fellow sisters for such shallowness and the numbers to shame the rest of us. Shame on you. I expect more out of a woman.

For all those thinking she's qualified or more qualified than Obama for some reason because of her "executive" experience:

Governor Palin has her governorship as her only experience on a state/national level. Before that she was basically the Mayor of a village and a PTA member.

She's been in office for 20 months as Governor of Alaska with a population close to 700 thousand. Some of that time has been dealing with a scandal of hers and family matters (giving birth).

Obama has been campaigning for 19 months, leading one of the most effective and most appealing Presidential runs in history, along with Hillary splitting 36 million votes between them, 49% to 49% around 18 million each, and tens of thousands of volunteers, for 19 months. Before that he's had 12 years of state/national level, an outstanding education, a community organizer and head of some pretty important positions.

Basically for anyone to say these two people have the same experience or Obama has LESS experience, is down right out there. However, that's not even the point. The point is McCain looks like a huge flip flopper right now not on his value of how important experience really is.

If Palin is qualified? Then why isn't Obama with a much longer record and appeal? If she isn't qualified, why did you pick her when you said you would pick the most qualified candidate? Is Palin qualified only because she may appeal to the women vote? If so, how can you say Obama is only trying to win an election when you pick someone just to win an election?

If any of these arguments are correct, how can we trust your judgement McCain, when either way you completely contradicted your main attacks on Obama?

GO PALIN AND MACCAIN. I WAS A CLINTON VOTER BUT NOW I WENT TO A MACCAIN VOTER. WHEN SHE SAID SHE SAID THANKS BUT NO THANKS TO THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE SHE GOT MY VOTE. NANCY A TAX PAYER

About two months ago while reviewing the list of Gop vice presedential prospects, Governor Palin appeared to be the logical pick. it was inevitable that Mccain would need a pro-lifer on his ticket, as well as someone who had experience as a governor. Governor palin has a very high approval rating in her state and has a record of targeting corruption and enacting reform while cutting out pork barrel spending. She will be a great asset in turning out potential Gop voters in states that will be need to be swung in the Gop's direction on november 4th. One state in particular , Colorado has a pro-life referendum that ought to bring out the evangelicals and catholics, and those voters will vote Gop with a staunch pro lifer on the ticket. Governor palin will probably help out enormously in New Hampshire, Nevada, Virginia, and Ohio as well. from a strategic point of view, Senator mccain made the wise and practical choice. Why pick a Governor? because any governor has more executive experience than McCain, Obama, and Biden combined...

Since when does the bottom of the ticket decide the election? This is evidence of a weak presidential candidate. She won't even hold up against Biden in the VP debates. John McSame made a good choice??? He only met her once before he made his decision. For someone with one foot in the grave, he should have really thought about the COUNTRY FIRST when deciding his VP. I am offended that he even thought because he picked a woman, he would automatically get my vote. How clueless is he? She is nothing like HRC and never will be. She was the mayor of a town with a population less than a elementary school here in the south. Governor of Alaska? Yeah, she really understands the hardships of average Americans... give me a break.

Are we going to let pro-life/choice determine this election when so much else is at stake. These distractions remind me of the Bush 2004 campaign. Republicans need to grow up and face the music. It is time for a CHANGE.

Obama/Biden 08

He met Palin once. He doesn't know her any better than all the rest of us who don't know her. Yet he chose her to be his VP. What does that tell us? That her job is to help him win the election and that's about it. I can see her value during the campaign, but I don't see what her value-add is when the time comes to govern. And neither does McCain. He chose her because he doesn't think he needs her beyond the election. He'll govern with his trusted advisors and he'll leave her a marginalized VP. After all, other than stepping in if the President dies, the VP doesn't have many defined responsibilities other than breaking the odd tie vote in the Senate. And there is plenty of precedent for presidents marginalizing their VPs. Lots of light-weight VPs have done little more than attend funerals that the President didn't want to attend. But it would be nice if the first woman VP brought substance and value to the administration. Palin brings nothing but a tactical advantage to the McCain campaign.

Blake, you mentioned that McCain spent months trashing Obama, a man who was a Constitutional Law Professor, has a law degree, has been an elected official for 12 years, has been a US Senator for 4 years for not having any experience.

You neglected to point out that he also sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the Veterans Affairs Committee, and has visited a dozen countries on multiple trips on official delegations negotiating on behalf of the United States.

But, to be fair to McCain and Palin, she did minor in Political Science while getting her Bachelor's degree.
