ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain today announced that he has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate and to serve as his vice president.
Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.
Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us -- Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.
In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the "bridge to nowhere" that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.
As the head of Alaska's National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.
Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.
How can a person who was a part-time mayor of a remote Alaskan village of 5,000 be ready to step in to run this country in the eventuality that McCain can no longer perform those duties? McCain is 72 and has a long history of cancer.

I now have decided who I will note for on Nov. 4th. This was a home run for McCain and this Country. Palin was a great and very smart choice. The fact that MSNBC & the Obama staff immediately started to trash this wonderful woman convinces me she is a fantastic pick. (They must be really worried)?

in total confusion. This choice beats Romney hands down. Mrs. Palin has shown she has the guts to fight "business as usual" in her own state and can build upon that base to help influence reform in national politics. Hooray for her selection! Let the games begin...
looks like a good choice, should appeal to the Conservative base and also some of the undecided women ticked off because of the Hillary deal. Mrs. Palin is short on experience totally but is not short on moxy, she will give the Obama/Biden ticket all the they want and most definitely will not be afraid to go toe to toe with whoever in the debates. PLUS, she is no doubt "easy on the eyes!!!"

Pardon me, make that "as much state and federal elected experience," since she was, after all, part-time "city" councilor and mayor of Wasilla (pop. 8471) for some years.

To the first poster- She is the Governor of the whole state dumbass. She runs the states Army and Air guard. She runs the states budget and answers to the people of the whole state. What has your assclown obama done? Nothing. Sarah is more qualified to be PRESIDENT than anyone on either ticket. And speeking as a real man, not some loser metrosexual, she is what real men want. She is the TOTAL package. A babe who who works hard and busts her ass. She hunts, she fishes, she coaches sports (not just puts on a Yankees hat) She carries a weapon and knows how to use it. As a just retired former paratrooper after 21 years,(1983-2004) I wish she was my wife!
