Biden: McCain/Bush "Worshipped At The Shrine Of Deregulation"
STERLING, VA - Joe Biden made a pitch to women voters here today, focusing on economic issues and promising to end "a cowboy mentality of the Bush and McCain era."
"Ladies and gentlemen," Biden told a mostly-female audience, "these guys have worshipped, they have worshipped at the shrine of deregulation. John McCain proudly said not long ago on Wall Street, and I quote 'I'm always, I'm always for less regulation.'"
Biden spoke about a call he and Obama had today with their economic team, and outlined short-term and long-term solutions to the current economic situation. He tied the events of the day to the focus of his event: women's issues.
Surrounded by six Biden women on stage - his wife, sister, two daughters-in law, niece and granddaughter - the Delaware senator also highlighted his authorship of the Violence Against Women Act, which he said McCain "didn't believe there was a need for."
"He said it was unnecessary and over regulating," he said. "Tell that to the 1.5 million women who found it necessary. ... I guarantee you it was necessary. It was not only morally right it was necessary."
He also mentioned the likely impact a president would have on the Supreme Court, with as many as four justices possibly replaced during the next administration.
"What do John and Sarah Palin say? They say that they want to appoint more Scalias, more Roberts, more Alitos," he said. "These are decent, bright guys, but they are dead, dead, dead wrong. And ladies, once they are on the court, they will be there long after, long after the next president is gone."
Biden was introduced by Sen. Barbra Mikulski of neighboring Maryland, who said that women "are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore."
"Democratic women, we wear lipstick too!" she said. "What we don't need to get is four more years of a George Bush soundalike. And we don't need another George Bush in earrings being the number two slot."

I'll bet they put more into the collection plate at that shrine than Uncle Joe puts in at his.

Dear Citizen:
Are you ready yet for the November 4th Elections? How about your friends, family, and neighbors?
More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?
The answers to these questions -- and all your voting needs -- can be found at www.StateDemocracy.org -- the FREE 1-Stop citizen empowerment portal that Delivers Democracy to your Desktop! StateDemocracy is among the Internet’s first (since 2001) and most encompassing civic empowerment tools.
In order to boost voter participation this year, StateDemocracy.org is offering FREE widgets for all 50 states. You can simply download and embed these widgets into your own website so your visitors can register to vote, get an absentee ballot or find their local polling place.
Lobby Congress Via StateDemocracy
StateDemocracy.org also equips you to maintain an active dialog with your state and federal lawmakers once they are elected. And RIGHT NOW is an especially opportune time to contact your U.S. Senators and House Member, as Congress takes up major legislation on such issues as offshore oil drilling, another economic stimulus package and all federal appropriations bills over the next few weeks.
As you lobby your elected officials, remember that lawmakers view your constituent input as reflective of scores of other citizens who felt similarly, but didn’t have (or take) the time to share their opinions.

$369 a year to charity Joe Biden says it's patriotic to pay higher taxes.
that must be "patriotic for other people", not him.
doncha just love how the social progressive DemonRats always push social causes with other peoples money?
hey Joe, now that we figured out a good Catholic boy like you gave $1 at Easter and $1 at Christmas, keep nailing down the Catholic vote for the progressive black african Christian.
GLiomas,
I don't put everything I give to charity on my tax form. When I give it is to do some good, not for a tax deduction. Biden has said pretty much the same thing. He gives money to the Church, and other charities, but doesn't claim it on his taxes. I don't see anything wrong with that.
I am writing on the 700 billion dollar bail out Sec. Paulson wants Congress to pass. It seems to me that corporations are trying to save their own hides on the back of the American people. We cannot allow this to happen to us again -- corporations first, people never. And know one knows what loans belong to who. How can that be? It sounds fishy and criminal. We cannot just go rushing into this maze but we must carefully try to find our way out that will benefit the people this time and not the corporations, which will be a solution and not just a bail out to corporations, to save their hide, their wealth, their way of life. Trickle down economics does not make sense because in nature we build from the bottom up, etc. a plant, a tree, a child and even when we build homes or cars we start from the bottom and expand up or outwards and that is how we should model our business dealings and growth. We cannot work against nature's wisdom and intelligence by hoping things will trickle down. It is just not sensible. We have a intelligent design through nature and we should use her model not man's greed. It is very hard for me to trust the people who got us into this mess to be able to get us out of this mess. That too does not make sense!
I just talked to my cousin in Ohio and gun owners and gun rights supporters there are out in force telling people about B. Hussein Obama's anti-gun voting record and his agenda on guns. So, don't worry people, with Obama's anti-gun record there is NO WAY he will win Ohio, Pennsylvania, or FLorida!
Last election these crowds that one could still hear echoing “four more years!” that resonated and ultimately stirred a winning cause, was based on Bush would do better in time of war. Did they forget the attracts happened on his watch?
I keep hearing polls insinuating McCain would do better in war because of his experience. Let’s reverse the situation. Who would do better making peace? Better yet. Who would do better in preventing war? Who is the best ticket on talks with our Arab and Muslim friends, McCain-Palin or Obama-Biden? Education is the key here, all nations learning from each other in a give and take of important attitude and feelings. One thing is certain, in the Muslim culture; it is easier for men to converse with each other rather then man and women that’s where Biden has the advantage over Palin. On the same token a man who cries fire (“I would fire him”) is a scary image of McCain’s hand slamming down on a big red button yelling “fire!” Our friends and allies of the Arab and Muslim nations would apt to have a better rapport with Obama
