Biden Promises To Be "Unrelenting" In Debate With Palin

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Joe Biden praised Sarah Palin today for a speech well delivered last night. But, like other Democrats, he said the speech was more noteworthy because it ignored some of the most pressing issues of the day.

"I thought the vice presidential nominee did an incredible job," he said. "I tell you, she is good. ... But the thing that I was most impressed by, beyond her standing and how confident she was, was what she didn't say. She didn't mention the word healthcare. She didn't mention the word education. She didn't mention college education. ... Not one time did I hear the phrase middle class part [Republicans'] lips."

With a heightened focus on the role of gender since Palin's announcement, Biden tried to stick to the issues both here and this morning during a series of television interviews. But one woman in the audience at the Virginia Beach Convention Center asked Biden if he would promise to "go at her the same way" he would a male candidate in debates.

"I think she's going to be an incredibly competent debater," he said in response. "The way I was raised is, I never, never, never attack the other person. I will take issue with her ideas as strongly as I possibly can. ... I will be unrelenting in my debate with governor, the governor of Alaska in terms of the positions she has taken. But I will not do what she is able to do so well. ... I am not good at the one-line zingers."

The comments came during an event otherwise advertised as a conversation on military issues. And Biden did criticize John McCain, and Palin by association, for what he said was failed judgment on Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Ladies and gentlemen, a guy who supposedly doesn't know anything, he got it right," Biden said of Barack Obama. "He got it right. John got it wrong. ... There's only one odd man out, two actually, a man and a woman - McCain and Palin."

Biden said he was happy to be in the air for most of last night's convention speeches - his plane landed just moments before Palin's speech began. But he had fun with a line from Mike Huckabee, who said in his convention speech that Palin had received more votes for mayor than Biden did in his presidential bid.

"The unfortunate part about that is he's correct," Biden joked. "Thank God Barack Obama ... picked me up from oblivion, you know?"

As a conservative, I voted Joe Biden in the democratic primary. Checking vote totals later,
I discovered he actually received 2-votes from my
voting box. I WONDER STILL IF THE OTHER VOTE WAS A JOKE ALSO....

Go Joe, Go! Please get rid of these out right lies.

#1 (Today) Obama is too far to the Left:
Fact:
* Worked with republican senator Lugar to expand and author program to locate & dismantle stray Russian WMD’s left overfrom the cold war after the disbanding of the USSR.
* Jan. 2007, major ethics/lobbying reform bill, w/ Russ Feingold insisted tougher measures banning lobbyist gifts/ meals/ jets, disclosure of earmark & contribution bundling to candidates or committees; restricts retiring Congress from going into lobbying
* Obama cosponsored Secure Orderly Immigration Act by John McCain. Passed 62-36. Makes undocumented persons who have been here 5+ years only allowed to stay and apply for citizenship, if pay back taxes, learn English and no criminal
record. 2 million undocumented persons who have been in the United States for less than two years would be ordered home.

# 2 Obama "gave big oil billions in subsidies and giveaways,"

FACT : Citing his votes for a 2005 energy bill. But the bill slightly raised taxes on the oil industry overall.

# 3 Obama is the most liberal senator
FACT: The National Journal rated him the 16th most liberal in his first year and the 10th most liberal in his second year.

#4 Obama wnats to keep money out of your pocket
I don't Michigan and Ohio but I will say this:

FACT: McCain supports tax breaks for overseas operations-At least one of those tax breaks – which allows corporations to defer paying taxes on their overseas earnings until they bring the money back to the U.S. Incentive to hire overseas, I don't know, you be the judge.

# 5 Obama wants to raise your taxes:
FACT: Obama’s plan would produce a tax cut for 81.3 percent of all households, and a cut for 95.5 percent of all households with children.

Under Obama's plan, the TPC estimates that people (or couples) making between $37,595 and $66,354 a year would see an average savings of $1,118 on their taxes.

Under McCain's plan, on the other hand, those same individuals would save $325 on average — $793 less than the average savings under Obama's plan.

#6: Obama wants to raise taxes on the business you buy from.

FACT: TPC calls it a tax break for most businesses.

So Joe please set the record start. Can't wait!

As for people who say that Biden will have to watch his language so to speak in his debate with Palin, I say he had better not. We want to win this election and pussy-footing (no pun intended)around with Palin's feelings is not a priority to me. Putin is not going to care about her feelings or whether or not he is showing sexist behavior toward her. This is what is important. How she gets treated on the world stage is what is at stake here. People are acting like she is running for the PTA. She would be one of the top leaders of the free world and hated by many. Get used to the jabs of belligerent men, Palin, because you ain't seen nothing yet!

If you've ever heard Biden speak, he's unrelenting no matter what. The man is incapable of shutting up.

Palin appeared to enjoy herself last night. I suspect being VP of the US is going to require a bit more than what she has to offer, but that is just my humble opinion. I wish I fell for her skimming the surface pseudo servant-speak, hyperbolic drama speech and nothing deeper, or I would have clapped for her too. Signing off, Republican woman for Obama.

Palin's speech was a home run!!! All you left wing democrats who have been smug and presumptuous, acting as if Obama has already won, are about to be given your rightfully deserved comeuppance. Keep America strong ... No Wright, no Farrakahn, no Ayers, no Rezko, no mean Michelle, NOBAMA !!!

joe biden is a hardnose talker that will be tough for anyone to win a debate with. sarah palin will certainly give him a run for his money. she better learn who the president of angola is. it's a favorite question of joe's.
