Debate, Still A ?
A statement issued a few moments ago from John McCain's campaign, per Kimmie Lipscomb:
"Senator McCain will remain in DC tonight as he continues to take action in brokering a deal that will address the crisis as well as protect the taxpayer. No further travel plans have been made at this point."

The chicken is playing chicken.
unbelievable...The Republican President says that we need to act now. The Republican nominee rallies the republican senate and Congress to stonewall any attempt to fix this problem. Wow McCain and Palin must be so scared to debate that they will allow this country's economy to be literally destroyed. My future unemployement thanks you John McCain
If he succeeds in getting a better deal for the taxpayers he will get a big bounce. If he doesn't, a deal will get cut and we're no worse off. Do you remember T. Boone Pickens talking about the biggest transfer of wealth to the Arab states from oil revenues, over the next ten years? This is the same amount over the weekend. I am all for letting him see if he can get us a better deal. If not, Congress will, in spite of itself, approve something close to the Paulson plan no later than the weekend. A debate tomorrow or Monday won't matter if we save billions.
Politico:
According to one GOP lawmaker, some House Republicans are saying privately that they’d rather “let the markets crash” than sign on to a massive bailout.
“For the sake of the altar of the free market system, do you accept a Great Depression?” the member asked.

Now there is a real American. Willing to sacrifice the country's well-being for his own extreme ideology. Simply revolting.
These people are sick in the head.
May God save the United States of America from the Republican Party.
Let me say loud and clear:
McCain is a T R A I T O R.
He puts politics ahead of nation.
McCain is a disgrace. I for once was going to vote for him after the convention but his actions during last two days opened my eyes. He turne this national crisis into his campaign exploit. Shame on you Mr. McCain.
From LA Times:
Keating 5 ring a bell?
McCain's past collides with the present Wall Street debacle.
Once upon a time, a politician took campaign contributions and favors from a friendly constituent who happened to run a savings and loan association. The contributions were generous: They came to about $200,000 in today's dollars, and on top of that there were several free vacations for the politician and his family, along with private jet trips and other perks. The politician voted repeatedly against congressional efforts to tighten regulation of S&Ls, and in 1987, when he learned that his constituent's S&L was the target of a federal investigation, he met with regulators in an effort to get them to back off.
That politician was John McCain, and his generous friend was Charles Keating, head of Lincoln Savings & Loan. While he was courting McCain and other senators and urging them to oppose tougher regulation of S&Ls, Keating was also investing his depositors' federally insured savings in risky ventures. When those lost money, Keating tried to hide the losses from regulators by inducing his customers to switch from insured accounts to uninsured (and worthless) bonds issued by Lincoln's near-bankrupt parent company. In 1989, it went belly up -- and more than 20,000 Lincoln customers saw their savings vanish. ...
But the savings and loan crisis mushroomed. Eventually, the government spent about $125 billion in taxpayer dollars to bail out hundreds of failed S&Ls that, like Keating's, fell victim to a combination of private-sector greed and the "poor judgment" of politicians like McCain.
The $125 billion seems like small change compared to the $700-billion price tag for the Bush administration's proposed Wall Street bailout. But the root causes of both crises are the same: a lethal mix of deregulation and greed.
Welcome back, Ethan. Was that you with that video the other day?
Republican lawmakers offered a plan calling for Wall Street firms to purchase insurance on mortgage-backed securities and "ADVOCATING TAX CUTS AND RELAXED REGULATIONS". Treasury officials had previously rejected a plan focusing on insurance in favor of one that purchased troubled assets, Cantor said.
This is the republican's solution???? ADVOCATING TAX CUTS AND RELAXED REGULATIONS?????!!!!!
This is exactly what Bush did for the last 8 years! Ask for something you know it insanely irresponsible, get everyone upset, then let the democrats trip all over each other while the republicans focus on getting what they really want. What a shell game!
Wake Up!!!!!
I beleive this is all a ploy and McCain wants to delay the VP debate due to the terrible job his VP choice did in her last interview. His first political ploy was to pick her. I voted for McCain in 2000 but that McCain no longer exist.
This is a sad day for America; politics in front of the needs of the American people. John McCain once again should be ashamed.
The House Republicans should be equally ashamed, Tax Cuts and relaxed regulations is what got us into this mess, at least in part. Now I’m mad. Why are we giving tax breaks, a windfall to these people who got us into this mess while we all pay the bill? At least the original plan had us buying assets and then selling them hopefully to re-coup the cost, sort of like a holding company. Giving them a tax break, gives us nothing, no chance to re-coup our dollars. Sounds like McCain's economic genius at work again. No wonder he finished second to last in his class. If these banks keep falling like dominos there will be nothing to tax. Wamu and Washington Mutual have fallen.
GM says their car sales have come to a virtual stop. We've got IT companies lowering 2009 projections already as capital markets freeze, and we already know what the housing industry looks like. So here's the math,
Tax Rate: 3% ===>Yea!!
Gross Income: $0.00 ===>NO : (
Taxes Owed: $0.00 ===> Huh?
Living in failed economic state PRICELESS!!!
Six SUVs have just pulled out from the McCain HQ in Virginia. Word is that he is going now.
CNN is reporting that John McCain is still participating in tonight's debate. He must have known that my friends and I are having a debate party, and he didn't want to disappoint us.
Obama was going to raise taxes anyway of course he on board with this. I don't believe we should reward the very people who caused this. why don't we bail out the people who lost their homes their jobs and their busineses instead.
