Diageo/Hotline Tracking Poll: Tina Fading

In today's Diageo/Hotline tracking poll, Obama/Biden leads McCain/Palin 46-42% -- the largest advantage for either ticket in the survey thus far. Previously, Obama/Biden led 44-43% in yesterday's release and 45-43% on 9/13.

Among Inds, the Dem ticket continues to gain ground. McCain/Palin's lead among Ind RVs, who represent one-fifth of respondents, now stands at just 3% -- down from 10% on 9/14 and 16% on 9/13.

Meanwhile, each ticket still maintains a commanding lead among their party faithful. McCain/Palin leads GOPers 84-7% (down slightly from 86-7% on 9/14), while Obama/Biden leads Dems 85-6% (up slightly from 84-7% on 9/14).

Obama has also now taken a sizeable lead on U.S. energy policy -- respondents feel he would best handle those issues by a 50-38% margin. This 12% advantage is the largest lead for either candidate on the question; previously, the largest lead had been Obama by 4% in yesterday's release.

The More You Know, The Better?

For the first time in the Diageo/Hotline tracking poll, more RVs now say Palin is unprepared to serve as POTUS if it became necessary. An all-time high (49%) say she is not prepared, while just 48% say the AK Gov. is prepared. What's more, 35% of RVs now say Palin is "very unprepared" to serve as POTUS -- up from 28% who said so in the sample completed immediately after the GOP convo (fielded 9/5-7).

Likewise, since Palin's intro in St. Paul, the proportion of nat'l RVs who see Palin as a common pol has steadily increased. A majority, 53%, still describe Palin as "a different kind of leader who offers a fresh, new perspective and inspires others" -- a figure which has stayed relatively constant since her 55% rating on 9/7. But an increasing number of people -- 36% in today's release vs. 27% in the survey completed 9/7 -- describe Palin as "just another politician who offers no new ideas and engages in negative politics."

Palin's favorability ratings have encountered comparable erosion. Although her fav rating is now at 47% -- similar to her 48% rating on 9/7 -- her overall unfavs have increased from 24% to 36%. Over the same period, the GOP VP nominee's unfavs have doubled among men and Inds -- from 18% to 36% and from 15% to 30%, respectively. Palin's strong unfavs among Inds have also doubled from 8% to 16%.

And although her fav/unfav has held relatively constant among GOPers (83%/8% now vs. 79%/5% on 9/7), Palin now scores just a 16%/66% among Dems, down from her 22%/45% rating just after the convo. She now has strong unfavs of 49% among Dems, up 19% from 9/7.

Today's survey, conducted 9/13-15 by FD, surveyed 909 RVs and has a margin of error of +/- 3.3%. Party ID breakdown for the sample is 41%D, 36%R, 19%I.

Drill Baby Drill sounds nice from a crowd of frothing sycophants, but it's scarily unrealistic and unhelpful to the rest of us.

At least she flushed the "bridge to nowhere"- but I do that every morning.

Hey, Where are all those pubs who checked in here a few days ago to check on the outlier. Look at Ras Baby now, Austin (Bigot from Ga.)

both campaigns are inept but Obama caught a break here over the weekend with the AIG and LEH news.

gallup also said Obama had taken a lead today that will start counting the next few days.

5 million green jobs!

Oil down $50/barrel, without any extra leasese being sold to oil companies.

Why speculators are bailing out of the oil market.

Obama call to release 10% of the strategic oil reserve to the market, and conservation is helping.

Looks like Failin' Palin's lipstick is getting smeared. Time for the fishwife to retreat back to her igloo.

after 9/15 game over. barack will be president on nov.5

Hey Guys. I knew that the polls would eventually swing in Obama's direction, but a week in politics is like a liftime, so we'll see what happens in the upcoming weeks. I think the Obama camp has to present a clear case to the American people. Here it is: This year the American people will finally give the Bush/McCain republican party a "performance review". If you like the job these folks have done over the past 8 years...then re-hire them. If not, on November 4, 2008, the american people will finally get the chance to give these folks their "pink slips". On November 4, 2008, tell the republican party "YOU'RE FIRED"!

I can longer stand looking at this woman. Palin is not only unqualified, but an insult to a modern, thinking woman. She may be a woman, but she does not represent ANYTHING a woman in 2008 should stand for. Let her have her 15 minutes of fame, and see how quickly she falls when she is actually forced to answer questions from the press and the electorate. John McCain has had FOUR bouts with skin cancer. I hope he lives to be 100, but if not, this BIMBO is going to be our President....I don't think so!

Either Hotline Diageo whatever is ahead of the game with an Obama 4 pt lead and a 7 pt "favorability" lead and and dozens of pts ahead on the economy, OR its up a creek or sewer without a paddle. Time will tell. Obama thinks he will "run the world's biggest economy"?????????

Can any thinking person really believe we are talking about this pathologically lying, cue card reading, RNC creation bimbo??

In my forty of so years of political consciousness, I've NEVER seen TWO candidate so frightening on so many issues.

McCain looks so incredibly weak verbally AND physically I can't believe it. Add one creationist nitwit with zero experience...ya, that's the republican ticket!!

Simply put, no. I can't believe it.

What what what!?!
But she reformed Alaska! He reformed Washington!

Now, I can look forward to Dollar Menu McMoose Burgers at Mickey Dee's, and oil is back down to prices so low people can finally afford to asphyxiate themselves in their garages after reading their 401K and mortgage statements!

COUNTRY FIRST!* (only applies to those making greater than $603,000 a year)

I knew it would only take time for people to see who Republican Palin really is. Rove et al should have vetted her better. When they checked her resume and saw that she attended 6 colleges in 5 years to get her journalism degree, that should have sent up a red flag. There are many Americans with degrees far more qualifying than that. And that coupled with limited experience - they must have been looking at a pretty face to get them to the top.

It is good to see Obama moving up again. Hope he can keep it going.

For you all you brain dead liberals, can you identify one thing that brocko obama has accomplished. Not just in the Senate but anywhere. Thomas Sowell put it best today, he just talks!!

Hey folks, I'm registered republican, but not supporting McCain/Palin ticket.Haven't you noticed since McCain selected Palin, everything went wrong from her scandals to financial crisis?God is telling us something, but we don't get it.If Palin will step down right now, everything will go normal again.A man should lead this country, not a woman.
