Palin: My 17-yo Daughter Is Pregnant
Sarah Palin just announced that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant, Reuters reports.

Sarah and Todd Palin issued the following statement regarding today's Reuters story:
"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.
"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

Where are the "Family Values" here? What was Palin thinking...she has opened her 17 year old daughter up to all kinds of riducule and scrutiny. This does NOT show good judgement as a parent! Not Good at all!!!

When you base your career on criticizing the morals of others you had better be clean in your own life and household. That Palin failed to teach her daughter to abstain from underage premarital sex is noteworthy. Those who spend their lives judging others deserve to be harshly judged for their own moral failures. Perhaps Mr. Dobson is the even bigger hypocrite in this story, for minimizing the truth.
Palin didn't have a choice to come out clear or it would have been a cloud over the next months. Seriously, with all the teenagers now being pregnant all over the country, famous or not, schools need to start handing out condoms free of charge. It's better to have safe sex then bring a child into this world that's not 'really' wanted.
I wish Pailin's family the best ... she will have time to take care and help her daughter as Obama will win. :)
If the Palin's wanted to proove that the new born baby wasn't her 17 year old daughter's and in fact, hers, aren't there THOUSANDS of other ways of showing that... (i.e., A Doctors note, Pictures of Gov. Palin being Pregnant, Birth Certificate, etc.) versus only saying, "MY DAUGTER IS 5 MONTHS PREGNANT, SO THEREFORE IT CAN'T BE HERS"...weak evidence.
"A private family matter" like this, making a "decision" about whether to keep or abort, is one CHOICE I was faced with when I was young. I am glad that we had the CHOICE to make. I would only jokingly tell my oldest daughter today that perhaps we made the wrong CHOICE. When number two came along by surprise, we still faced the same family, economic and other life pressures as we made again our "decision" to have yet another. Government should be there to support CHOICE, not disallow it. Although presidential candidates' families are a private matter, the only plus out of this for me is knowing that it is clear by their actions both Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin support the ability for at least their children to be able to make a "decision" (i.e. CHOICE).
I was a die hard Hillary supporter but the demos blew her off too. MPred did I hit a nerve in your moral sounding board. You gringos are always throwing moral stones at everyone. Be careful soon you will be the minority here. Americans are always fighting with someone here there, them, those, and always each other. WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL ?!? The girl is pregnant ! girls younger then her get prgnant everyday ... Shes makeing the right choices and taking responsibility for her actions !! so what if her mothers in the spot light ?!? Lets looks at past daughters of vp and presidents !! I read things that are saying it was the parents fault for "not teaching their daughter the morals they need for the future." I think it is a crock that people can blame Sarah for HER daughter getting pregnant. I am sure she was taught to abstain, and I am sure it was hammered into her head that premartial sex is "wrong" But can anyone tell me that they ALWAYS listened to what their parents told them? WE MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS IN THE END. A parent is only a parent, they can't live your life for you. They can only do so much to guide you to make better decisions in the end.
