Palin Scores Big Viewer Numbers, Rivals Obama

Just in from Nielsen:

* The Sarah Palin speech generated 37.2 million viewers, just a 1.1 million viewers short of Barack Obama’s record-breaking speech on Day 4 of the Democratic Convention. The Palin speech was carried on only six networks while the Obama speech was carried on ten (including BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo).

* Palin attracted a large female audience (19.5 million women, or 4.9 million more than Day 3 of the Democratic Convention).

* Ratings for viewers 55+ (25.2) continue to be about ten times higher than for teens (2.2)

* Day 3 for the GOP attracted more Hispanic viewers (1.4 million) than Day 3 of the Democratic Convention (1.2 million), even though Univision and Telemundo did not carry the speech.

I think Sarah Palin will be the new star in the GOP. She will bring the right back to the roots of conservatism which always outsells any other political views. Very Impressive!

I am an independent voter and have decided to vote for Obama. McCain does not seem to have anything to offer us as Americans. Sarah Palins speech was rude and snooty. She seems to have an attitude that says that she is far better than anyone else. I don't like that. I feel that McCain chose her without investigating who she really is and what she has done. Obama has accomplished far more than Sarah could dream of. He has respect for others and I haven't heard him say any negative things about his opponents unless enticed. He actually cares about people and their well being. McCain and Palin have nothing but negative things to say and cannot seem to answer any real questions on how they are going to help this messed up country get back on track. They do not seem very truthful, although they say that they are "christians". I can't believe anything that comes out of their mouths. Maybe if they weren't so negative and defensive, I may believe. Maybe if they had some kind of plan instead of bashing Oboma, I'd believe. Right now I believe that they would just lead us into the same direction as Bush has lead us these past 8 years. We certainly don't need that! So McCain, if you think you're going to get my vote because you chose a "woman" for your pick than think again. I'm a "white woman" and I'm voting for Obama!

To Rita,

I am an Independent also. I agree with much of what you said. However, bear in mind how the media scrutinized her more in 3-4 days than they have Obama. In some ways, I understand why she fought back. More than ever, we have to discern who the sources of our information are. For example, I have not seen anything negative printed about Obama. Why is that? It's either he is too good to be true or the media is giving him a pass because they want a change from the Bush administration so much. I do like Obama's tone in and delivery. He minimizes negativity towards his opponents. However, I do get tired of the "He's another George Bush" rhetoric. Keep in mind, this is the same John McCain who the democratic party warmly embraced before the elections. They never described him as Bush before. Why now? Political expediency. You also you have to check what he says. For example, he claims that John McCain is out of touch with America because he thinks the rich are those who make 5 million or more. McCain said this as a joke during the Saddleback Church interviews. He even followed it up with "But seriously...". Another example, he said that he had more experience than Palin by comparing his management of his presidential campaign to her small town mayor terms. He stated that she only oversaw 50 employees. He somehow overlooked that she was governor of Alaska for 20 months where she oversaw 24,000 employees. It would be hard to consider that an honest mistake. My point is we all have to be careful about what all politicans say and seek out the facts ourselves. It's unfortunate that we can no longer trust the media to do that in a fairly unbiased manner.

Do you even watch the news? What do you mean they do not display any negative things about Obama?? Do you actually mean that they do not display anything negative about Palin? If you have not been watching the news your precious Palin has only had 2 interviews and Biden 84 interviews since this election. So you tell me who the media is protecting and what is Palin hiding. McCain knows that the majority of the Americans who wanted a women VP would vote for him as long as he picked a woman candidate. Furthermore there is nothing that Palin or McCain have said that will make me a believer, especially when neither of them (especially Palin) have not spoken about foreign policy and our economy realisticly.
