Joe The Plumber, Rapidly Entering His 16th Minute Of Fame...
MELBOURNE, FL -- If you thought John McCain's campaign might have taken the whole Joe the Plumber thing far enough, at the GOP nom's rally today the metaphor was lifted to a whole new level.
Joe was featured on t-shirts worn by supporters both inside and outside the rally.
With a big "Hello my name is..." name tag on the front, the t-shirt introduces the wearer as "Joe the Plumber," and at the bottom it says, "and I support McCain-Palin."
The t-shirts seem to have nothing to do with the campaign itself, but behind the candidate were various Joe-themed signs including "Let Joe Keep his Dough" and "It's Joe's Dough not Obama's."
(Typically campaign signs are usually made by the campaign or the local party and distributed to supporters upon arrival.)
McCain implied this morning, however, that it was Obama's fault that Joe was receiving so much attention.
"People are digging through his personal life," McCain said of his new campaign mascot. "He has TV crews camped out in front of his house. He didn't ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. He wasn't recruited or prompted by our campaign. He just asked a question. And Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks."
But after Wednesday's debate and today's rallies, it seems it's the McCain campaign that continues to thrust Joe into the limelight.

Yeah, you guys are just jealous that Joe asked tougher and better questions than you so called journalists.
Does anyone really buy the idea thar Joe (a republican for at least 20 years, making 40k a year) was in any position to buy a business that is apparently making a quarter of a million dollars profit? And that in the face of the Obama plan's modest tax increase he'll just give up because there's no real motivation if he has to pay a couple grand in taxes?
I mean maybe it's plausable that this is the case. He's not bothering to pay his taxes now, so I guess it's possible. But if he gives up that easily he has no business trying to run a company in the first place.
>>>>> Does anyone really buy the idea thar Joe (a republican for at least 20 years, making 40k a year) was in any position to buy a business that is apparently making a quarter of a million dollars profit?
You haven't watched the exchange, have you? Joe said he wanted to buy and GROW the business.
Typical McCain he brings up “Joe” then reporters swamp Joe and then McCain blames Obama for Joe’s popularity. Joe can’t afford to buy the business he only makes about 40 thousand a year and the business only makes about 100 thousand per year, facts are not passing the smell test.
Now Joe’s life might get even more complicated. Will his employer be fined for having an unlicensed plumber do certain work? He might if there wasn’t a licensed plumber on sight when Joe was plumbing. Then in the places that the work was done if no certified plumber oversaw the work it my have to be re-done, I see lawsuits against Joe’s boss.
Yep McCain is looking out for his own selfish gains again. McCain invited himself into Joe’s home and took a huge dump and has left it for Joe to deal with the mess!
Joe sounds like just another uninformed Republican who can't seem to tell the truth about himself and show personal responsibility for his life!!
You should focus on Obama answer not in Jo's question. It was the socialist candidate who wants to act like Robin Hood, maybe he believe that USA is Venezuela or Cuba.

Joe the plumber does not make 250K why does he have to worry about paying more taxes? this is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. Why would somebody care about other people's money? seriously Joe 250K is not yours cause you can't afford to make it. you can't afford to buy anything with your freaking salary. Get another job or something. I mean in the 8 years Bush spent on the white house since he's not charging that much taxes why didn't you buy your business joe and have 250k. Oh, wait a minute you're poor you don't get any taxe break. you are so educated and ask the right question joe. get yourself more informed joe before you make it fool out of yourself. I wonder who put you up to this.

The current progressive income tax system in the U.S.where the income tax rate increases according to the level of one's income is the same thing as "spreading your wealth". THe wealthy people have always paid higher taxes than the lower income earners. So what is McCain's point? Does he want to introduce a flat rate tax system so that regardless of income levels everyone pays the same rate of tax?
McCain's comments like most of his ideas are not very intelligent - his wife just declared that she paid $1.1 million in income taxes - this is more than what most people earn. Why isn't McCain complaining about this? McCain should focus on the real issues -a president'sjob is to identify real issues and offer real practical solutions instead of focussing on trivia.
I suppose Obama needs to carry a chart on the stump with him showing exactly who he will give the tax breaks to and who he won't. It won't be people who make over $250,000 a year. But the taxes he does give to those who make over $250,000 will be same ones that Bill Clinton had when he was in office. Yes, that long ago, so you know they won't be much in today's market. McCain is making uninformed people believe that Obama is going to rob them blind. Not true. Obama was a community organizer. They are not known for hurting the little guy. Obama will throw out all the Bush taxes, which is why McCain is so upset. He doesn't want his little brother George's taxes removed because they resemble a plan McCain wants to continue. The truth is this: If you want the taxes that Bush gives now, vote for McCain. If you want the taxes Clinton gave, vote for Obama. You don't have to argue with Obama about it. Like the children's song goes, "If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands!" But if you are not happy, then vote for Obama and his tax plan.

Also as a "full-blooded American," with generations that go fairly far back, I must tell you that I had loved ones, relatives and friends who were also sent to fight the Viet Nam War.
They did not have the priviledge of John McCain, in that their fathers were not in the position to supply them with 5 different airplanes, in order to fight the war above ground(read that history).
My best friend's cousin was killed in Vietnam. I also had to read the obituary at the funeral of a family friend. He was a young man who had a contract waiting for him with the Milwaukee Braves (at that time), but his head was shot off a day or 2 before he was scheduled to leave Vietnam.
There are many Americans who can speak of our fathers, uncles, brothers and sons in the Military, past and present, who have been as patriotic (if not more) as John McCain.
The problem I see with Mr. McCain, is that he is not seeking to unite this nation, for whom so many have sacrificed so much, but he and his running mate have chosen the low road of throwing stones, dirt, and creating dissension where ever and whenever they can.
His supposed "high-road" in the past, cannot not support the low-road he has chosen to traverse in this election.
Why is MSM not reporting ALL of what is known about 'Joe the Plumber'? As has been said before in these posts, He's not a licensed plumber, he only makes $40k a year, had no intention of really buying the company he works for, that company and Joe would earn less than the tax break-point, the increase would only be 3% on the amount over $250k, (do the math, it's not worth worrying about and a good tax accountant could probably offset it anyway), he's in legal trouble for not paying the taxes he already owes, he's a registered Republican, he was contacted by the RNC and asked to show up, he has family ties to the Keating 5. Now he's the star of the McCain campaign. (I guess Caribou Barbie's glitter and shine is wearing off)
You gotta go to Huffington or such to find this stuff out.
How about telling the whole truth...
McCain still supports Keating. He's the one that brought up Joe, and then blames Obama. Typical of the McCain/Palin campaign. McCain wants those tax cuts for the rich to support his wife. What a jerk1
