Nader: Will Send Hummus Recipe For Cash

With fewer than four weeks remaining until election day, it's grown clear that Ralph Nader is not likely to impact the 2008 presidential race to the degree he did the 2000 contest. But a fundraising appeal issued from the candidate today made his campaign appear not just peripheral but decidedly wacky. It came in the form of an essay about the global hummus trade. Nader writes:

“I've had a lot of hummus. Hummus is nutritious. And delicious. It makes you stronger and healthier. So, Bloomberg's report on the Lebanese claim to hummus got me to thinking about an idea that would help us raise funds to push our substantive agenda onto the front burner of American politics. If you donate to Nader/Gonazlez by midnight tonight an amount that has the number three in it (three being the number of lemons in my mom's hummus recipe), we'll e-mail to you Rose Nader's hummus recipe tomorrow.”

Check out the entire letter, including Nader's helpful list of numbers that end in three, here.

He has actually done quite a bit of this in for his campaign. He uses different numbers related to whatever point he is making in the post. Say what you want about how wacky it is, he has raised over $3 million. Sure, it is chump change to the major party candidates but it's the best of any of the alternative party candidates by far.

Hey, what's new - another disingenuous effort to marginalize the Independent Nader/Gonzalez ticket in an already rigged electoral system. No mention that Nader/Gonzalez explicitly state in their pitch that they are "keeping our sense of humor" as they continue to push for a more democratic electoral process by insisting upon their equal right to participate. Sure, this is just a bit of light satire. Still, it never fails to disappoint when journalists do nothing more than ape the prevailing prejudices of the same two parties that rig the system in the first place. Besides, even as satire, this is nothing more than a rehash of the same Washington "insider" commentary you hear 1,000 times a day every day. Yep, Nader/Gonzalez sure are "wacky" the way they opposed that $700 billion giveaway to Wall Street - you know, the one that both major party candidates support? EVAN McMORRIS-SANTORO should be embarrassed to sign this kind of drivel.

To the Idiot who Posted this Blurb:
Ralph Nader's Candiacy Supports: Single Payer Health Insurance, A Living Wage, A reduction in the Bloated Military Waste Spending, a 6 Month Withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan, an End to Corporate Personhood, a Speculation Tax, Procescution of Corporate Crime, an End to Unfair so-called Free Trade Practices that pit American workers against the slave labor of Dictatorships, Energy Independence, and many more Democratic Visions.

Ralph Nader is personally is responsible for OSHA, the EPA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, Consumer Safety Legislation, the Labels on Your Food, the Freedom of Information Act, Safety Belts in your Car, and Many other Laws that have Protected the Rights of Safety of Americans?

What have Barrack Obama and John McCain done? Last I checked they turned American citizens into indentured servants, debt slaves who will struggle for the rest of their lives to pay for Unconstitional, Illegal, Unsustainable Wars of Agression on Foriegn Shores for Oil Companies. Last I checked they traded your parents 401k plan in for worthless paper, Distressed Assets. Last I checked, they committed High Treason by putting the interests of corporate entities above that of the republic they were elected to preserve.

Ralph Nader is a Real American Hero. He is a man of substance, not another game show host spewing out slogans, smiling for the camera. When are you dumb f&#@s going to WAKE UP????

P.S. The blog was about Israeli control over the US gov't, war intiatives, and spending. Not that someone like you would ever metion that nuance.

Wow! Ralph Nader is the new Ron Paul.

Nader rocks my world!

This would be the first year I wouldn't vote if he weren't on the ballot.

I'm so over the corrupt two-party system and their wars and their oil and their bailouts.

I support Nader 2008.
