Odds And Ends, Making Up Is Hard To Do
Odds and Ends, 22 days and counting:
-- John McCain will appear Thursday night on the Late Show with David Letterman. He pulled out of an appearance last month when he suspended his campaign to deal with the economic crisis, and Letterman hammered the AZ Sen. repeatedly for bypassing his show to do an interview with Katie Couric.
-- Dean Smith, the legendary and beloved former University of North Carolina basketball coach, endorsed Barack Obama. His support comes as the once GOP-leaning NC looks ever more like a toss-up.
-- New York Times writer Paul Krugman won the Nobel Prize in economics today. Krugman -- "widely known as a perpetual thorn in George Bush’s side" -- was awarded the prize for academic work constructing "models that explain observed patterns of trade between countries."
-- Tomorrow, McCain is in Blue Bell, PA, a spot in vote-rich swing territory Montgomery County, PA. Obama is off the trail tomorrow but in Oregon, OH, preparing for Wednesday's final presidential debate at NY's Hofstra University.

Letterman didn't hammer McCain for skipping him to do an interview with Couric.
Letterman hammered McCain for lying to Letterman on the phone, saying he was hopping a plane to DC when really he was simply doing another show.
It was the lie and getting caught in the lie that pissed Letterman off. Had McCain said that his campaign needed him to do Couric that day instead, Letterman might have joshed him but not savaged him.
But McCain lied, and did so baldly and directly to Letterman.
The way you tell it Letterman was being petty for losing a guest to another show, but that isn't what happened.
I keep hearing about the "Race Card". It looks like Obama is now using it. I respected his views, and him up to this point. Now, I don't think we need a president who feels that his platform is not enough to win, and allows the race card to be used, by anyone. Including Rep. John Lewis. Mr. Obama needs to distance himself from the racists, no matter what their color. I agree with the need for change, so let us see change, not the race card.

Dean Smith is a Democrat, and has been very much a force for tolerance and progressive values.
>>>Letterman hammered McCain for lying to Letterman on the phone, saying he was hopping a plane to DC when really he was simply doing another show.
Just one problem with your litte rumor. If McCain thought enough of Letterman to call him PERSONALLY to cancel, why would he lie and sy that he was already on the plane?
I think if the media would get out of the way McCain might do better than he is. I've listened to the news very carefully for the past 6 months and I hear unfair media coverage among the Condidates. First The Media was so critical of Hillary Clinton, the poor lady couldn't do anything right and they made it appear that OBama was a God. Well I'm here to tell you that if Obama gets President we are in for a lot of trouble. Now that Hillary is out of the Picture McCain gets trashed by everybody. The mess that the media pulled on Palin. And don't even get me started on the RACE factor. Race has nothing to do with it, but the media wants to pull the race factor in and lets not forget the regilious factor. Just because somebody says Obama's middle name when they talk about him does not in any form say that they are calling him a muslim or they are attacking him because he is black (half breed/hi-yellow.....) What ever you want to call it. Bottom line is people that if the media would stay out of the Presidentail race Obama would not have had a chance in hell. As for the people that vote for Obama you really need to pray good and strong and read your bible before you put him in office. Oh did I just hint that Obama could be the AntiChrist? Think what you will but only I know what I meant. One of the problems that we have in America is that we have the media to tell us what we like and what we don't like. Just because you have a right to tell the story don't mean that you are to distort the truth to make another person to look bad.
I've just read the Using service agreement: the paragraph that is right above the Preview/Post buttons which basically says that if we don't say what they want us to say they will delete, edit or remove any material that deems to be in violation to this rule. Well where is my freedom of speech? If I don't like Obama and I tell you what I think then they will not publish what I have to say. I suspose they wouldn't like what I have to say about the "D" Mexicans that are in our country illegally and are taking the food out of our children and our elderly peoples mouth. Get all the illegle immigrants out of our Country.
Will world financial leaders have the wisdom to think and plan for the long term health of the whole economy? Will they have the wisdom to expose the corruption, bad judgment and greed of the few at the expense of the many?
That capitalism lends itself to corrupt practices, greed, and reticence to self-regulate is well known. By this opportunity that has arisen in the world we have the chance to right an imbalance and regulate the capitalistic system structured to favor the rich over the rest, ½% balanced with all the rest together, in a scale of social justice that has no equilibrium, but is dangerously out of balance. Regulus is also mentioned in Bailey's chapter on Libra, even though it is a star in the constellation Leo; it is associated with "re-orientation of the attitude of the legal profession" toward world service motivated by concern for the children. Regulation is now under discussion, at this time when the US is facing the unknown consequences of the largest bail-out of banks in world history, and when the markets of the world are shaken. World service is becoming very pragmatic.
Gradually, the old guard, with its worship of greed and self-interest alone, is being replaced by younger people with newer ideas, and a triple bottom line of "people, planet, profit" together fostering "post-partisan, multi-stakeholder common ground." This is a healthier and more holistic attitude, characterized by inclusiveness and wide-mindedness. It is green, or environmentally aware, and shows a substantial upgrading of motivation and intelligent thinking. Gandhi, a Libra himself, was famous for saying that production by the masses, is better than mass production. He advocated local producing and local buying wherever possible. This is a period when all reasonable new ideas might be considered, and should be heard.

>>>why would he lie and sy that he was already on the plane?
B/c he is a SERIAL LIAR.
For example, today's lie (or one of them):
McCain Camp Caught Lying About Crowd Sizes Again
The McCain campaign has again been caught puffing up the number of people who attend their rallies. The campaign claimed that 25,000 people attended John McCain's Virginia Beach rally -- but the venue only holds 16,000, and the fire marshall estimated that only 12,000 people were in attendance.
