Palin Criticizes Robocalls

Sarah Palin last night on the tarmac in Colorado Springs told reporters she does not believe the GOP should be relying on robocalls linking Barack Obama to Bill Ayers.

Palin, in a transcript provided by FOX News's embed: "If I called all the shots, and if I could wave a magic wand, I would be sitting at a kitchen table with more and more Americans, talking to them about our plan to get the economy back on track and winning the war and not having to rely on the old conventional ways of campaigning that includes those robocalls and includes spending so much money on the television ads that I think is kinda draining out there in terms of Americans' attention span, they get a bit irritated with just being inundated, and you're seeing a lot of that of course with the huge amounts of money that Barack Obama is able to spend on his ads and his robocalls also."

The full transcript of her conversation with reporters is available after the jump.

Palin: "Look forward to tomorrow getting to speak with good Colorado folks looking for a change."

LOCAL: What can people expect for tomorrow?

PALIN: "We'll talk a lot about the economy against and the differences, the contrast between the two tickets as its becoming more and more I think exposed and that senator Obama's plan is to redistribute people's wealth instead of creating new wealth and new opportunities. So we'll make those contrasts again tomorrow."

LOCAL: People say they really want to hear a lot of answers to specific issues tomorrow. Is that something that will be addressed tomorrow.

PALIN: "It needs to be, on both sides too though. Both tickets need to be very specific about their plans about how to reduce taxes and rein in government. And allow our economy to get back on the right track with energy independence. We need to be more specific about that. And then Barack Obama too and Biden need to be more specific about why they say no to the domestic solutions towards getting us energy independence and energy secure. And why it is that their ideas on, some would call it socialism. In fact Joe the plumber called it socialism. Why they believe that their ides of taking people's hard earned money and small businesses money and then redistributing that according to their priorities, why they believe that is good for America. we don't believe that it is. We believe that we have better ideas on how to get the economy back on track."

LOCAL: How important is Colorado?

PALIN: "So important, and again, just not wanting to take anything for granted that either ticket has a lock on this, so, not only tomorrow being here but hopefully we'll get back here again in the next tow week before that final day on the 4th'"

Fox News: Do you and John McCain believe that Barack Obama's tax plan is socialist?

PALIN:" There are socialist principles to that, yes. Taking more from a small business or small business owners or from a hard working family and then redistributing that money according to a politician's priorities. There are hints of socialism in there and that s why I don't fault or discredit Joe the plumber for bringing that up asking if that is socialism."

CNN: Do think the government pumping money into U.S. banks is socialism?

PALIN: "No, I do not. And I believe that there are those measure that had to be taken by congress to shore up not only the housing market but the credit markets also to make sure that that's not frozen, so that our small businesses have opportunities to borrow and that was the purpose, of course, and that part of the bailout and the shoring of the banks."

Harris: any msg for tina fey:

Palin: "To Tina Fey? I love Tina Fey she was so much fun. That cast and crew there in New York were so--they were so welcoming and we had so much fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat."

Harris: do you think it helped?

Palin: "Well I hope that it shows America that you've got to have a sense of humor through all of this otherwise it would be pretty grinding on a person and there's got to be levity even in a campaign like this and there is and it was a good time to get to express some of that last night. Thank you."

Reaction to Powell's endorsement of Obama?

Palin: "Powell's endorsement and that was not so much of a surprise and cetainly that is his perogative, but John McCain a d I are very appreciative of the four former Secretary of States' endorsements that McCain has and the over 200 retired generals and other top brass military that have endoresed John McCain and his good ideas on winning the war so that's appreicated that we have those endorsements."

"That's certainly his perogative to express that also."

Berger: Do you think ACORN's actions are unamerican?

"I believe OH! well I believe that anybody that would try to thwart a fair and clean election is not following American principals because part of being an American is protecting and being able to rely on free and fair elections."

Q: What do you think of the robocalls? Theres been criticism by Powell and by Coleman, a couple of Republican senators. Is that a tactic you approve of?

PALIN: "You know, that's some of that inside baseball stuff, that, campaign calls and just getting that message out. If the vehicle to be used is robocalls, that's the some of the campaign top brass's call on that."

Q: What would you do if you got to call all the shots?

PALIN: "If I called all the shots, and if I could wave a magic wand, I would be sitting at a kitchen table with more and more Americans, talking to them about our plan to get the economy back on track and winning the war and not having to rely on the old conventional ways of campaigning that includes those robocalls and includes spending so much money on the television ads that I think is kinda draining out there in terms of Americans' attention span, they get a bit irritated with just being inundated, and you're seeing a lot of that of course with the huge amounts of money that Barack Obama is able to spend on his ads and his robocalls also."

Q: Several senators have suggested your campaign end the robocalls. Are you saying the same thing?

PALIN: "Pardon?"

Q: Several senators, Republican senators have said the McCain campaign should end the robocalls. Do you think the same thing?

PALIN: "I'm not calling for an end to the robocalls, no, uh-uh."

Harris: How's Trig?
"He's awesome. He's up there and I promised the kids I would stop for ice cream on the way to the hotel so maybe I can talk to you some there too on the OTR."

This woman gives me a headache, whether I am reading a transcript or listening to her.

It's "socialism" to tax the rich more than the poor, as we have done in this country for decades and decades, but it is not "socialism" for the government to buy direct ownership shares in private companies.

But if Joe the right winger natural law party acolyte says, it must be true.

Frankly, I don't think she has the first clue what any of these words mean so long as she can stick to her basic core belief: If we do it it is good. If they do it it is bad.

Oh boy, now we see why her handlers won't let her talk to the press...

Well, if JOE THE PLUMBER called it socialism then it must be true, aint it so?

Says Palin: "Senator Obama's plan is to redistribute people's wealth instead of creating new wealth and new opportunities."

Dear Gov. Palin: It's called a progressive income tax, which those radical socialists from 19th-century America passed a constitutional amendment to allow.

And the economy does better at creating new wealth and new opportunities when income inequality is not as extreme as it has been through the Bush years. The gap between the most wealthy and the rest of us has been at levels last seen before the Great Depression, so it's no surprise that we have our own economic crisis to deal with.

Listening to this woman speak or even reading the transcripts is becoming beyond painful. She cannot construct a coherent sentence to save her life.

For every run on sentence she utters, there's guaranteed to be about 40% fluff, or filler verbiage, which clutters up whatever thought or point she tries to make, offering little more than a vein attempt to sound more knowledgeable by sheer quantity of words spoken.

November 4th cannot get here quick enough. My head is about to explode.

Well, I, for one, hope she wins the republican primary in 2012--because she'd absolutely get clobbered in the general election.

Go Palin! :-p

The Palins are one step away from being felons troopergate, tax evasion, shooting wovles illegally, lawsuits against her for using her Yahoo account for Gov Business, refusing to release her medical records like all the other candidates and lord knows what else.

The worst VP Pick ever. This is how John McCain will be remembered.

Dear Mr. Ralph, regarding the above comment, I am curious to know which constitutional amendment you had in mind.

Sincerely.

Palin is doing fine. She seems to be getting more relaxed, intelligible, and intelligent with the press. Too bad we don't have an audiovideo to match up with the transcript, seeing as how transcripts of Palin are notoriously more Palinesque than she herself is (e.g. run-on sentences instead of inserting periods).

Anyway, I hope Palin will go for the gold: I wuold recommend a visit to Good Morning America, an appearance next Sunday on one of the talk shows like Face the Nation, and maybe a print interview by Peggy Noonan!!!

Palin and Noonan. That would be rich! Do you think Palin would understand a word? "In what sense, Peggy?"

"...Taking more from a small business or small business owners or from a hard working family and then redistributing that money according to a politician's priorities..."

Yeah, like redistributing to the local school district, the police and fire departments, the armed forces. You know - all that socialist stuff.

I can't wait for an Obama presidency. All you numbnutz who voted for the "Messiah" will find out the real truth about his income redistribution plan. Oh and the taxes, can't wait for that either. In four years he'll have an honest to goodness record he will be able to be measured on. After Pelosi and Reid are done using him so will the American party. I keep reassuring myself Jimmy Carter brought forth Ronald Reagan. So you can see it's not all that bad, is it.

Is she running against McCain?

... and what's with the hair?

It looks absolutely perfect for the swim suit edition.

No, Obama's tax plan is not a "progressive income tax", he plans to raise taxes on the productive portion of the population and hand out checks to people who pay NO income tax, no questions asked. That is welfare, and it's the worst sort of welfare - let me ephasize NO QUESTIONS ASKED. It's also government enforced redistribution of wealth, which is the definition of state socialism. And it's only the beginning. USA, RIP.

All you who are pulling for McCain, are you the same people who voted for Bush...twice? If so, be quiet. You have forfeited your right to an opinion.

Charles,

It would be socialistic or communistic to deny freedom of speech, regardless of who anyone voted for. Of course that is what the Democrats want isn't it? They want to stifle any speech that exposes the faults of liberal logic (if there is such a thing). Oh, by the way, for all of you who criticize Palin's intellect in public interviews, I agree with you on one thing; we should hear more from the "far superior Biden"! He can remind us that FDR went on television before TV was even invented. He can continue to misquote Obama on meeting with rogue leaders, while there is audio tape indicating otherwise. He can insist that a handicapped man with a broken leg should stand up on his feet. He can even misinterpret the Articles of the Constitution again like he did at the debate. Lastly, he is welcome to read a portion of the plagiarized speech he wrote to remind everyone how inept he is at coming up with his own material. Finally after all that, the rest of us can sit back and laugh profusely at how liberals and the liberal bias media try to portray Biden as being such a brilliant man and how Obama was so brilliant in his decision to pick him for VP. We can then hope that Biden's statement about Obama being a great target for other nations to test with a foreign crisis will never come true. Of course one way to make it not come true would be to vote for McCain/Palin.

Dear John,

In the future could you break your posts up into paragraphs? That would make your posts reader friendly.

The point of my earlier post is that the judgment of the people on the Right has been undermined by Bush's presidency. He is arguably the worst president in our history.

The opinion of anyone who voted for him- I opine- is not worth much.

I can't even read what she's saying - it's a lot of words with no substance! I'm an "average American" and there is no way in the world I'd get anywhere speaking like her. I mean, if she's going to be the "Queen of BS", she needs to refine her linguistic craft and syntax. Sheesh!

I realise you are electing your American President, but those of you who are capable of looking out to the bigger world will see that there is a great deal of interest in who that President is. For the simple reason that when America decides to go to war, it inevitably drags its allies along with it. What concerns me is that McCain is an angry old man, and Palin is an angry youngish woman. Between the pair of them they are whipping your country into a frenzy of race hate and you only have to view some of those videos of 'southern folk' venting their hate and going on about 'our race' as if there are only white people in America. How long do you have to live there, how many generations have to be born there, before you are allowed to insist you are an American? Obama is a voice of reason, he is the best hope for your country in defusing the international scene because he has said he will TALK with the enemy. Goodness. What a radical thought. How come your diplomats haven't put that to the current administration? It's not as if the GOP have done anything for the downtrodden. They are so buddy buddy with the rich that you actually had two Bush's as President! In our country we would call that approaching a monarchy, a right to inherit the thrown by the heirs ... no matter how qualified or otherwise they might be. America, you need a fresh start. You need hope. You don't need another four years of this tired, angry, seething mess. The rest of the world will hold a party and rejoice with you when Obama gets elected. Get behind the man and work for a better America.
