Production Values
Barack Obama's 30-minute commercial was a beautifully-produced, meticulously thought through effort to close the deal with the American people.
Nothing was overlooked:
-- Not the featured citizens who live in battleground USA (MO, OH, NM);
-- Not the featured pols, who also hail from swing states (OH Gov. Ted Strickland, KS Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, NM Gov. Bill Richardson, VA Gov. Tim Kaine, MO Sen. Claire McCaskill, among others);
-- Not the other featured big shots, Google CEO Eric Schmidt and a Ret. Brig. Gen. named ... John Adams;
-- Not the painful imagery of our nation's struggling citizens (the elderly woman massaging her arthritis-ravaged fingers, the mother who tells her kids that the food on the refrigerator door is all they have for the week, the 72-year-old retiree who built his house with his own hands and paid for it in full but had to return to work to make ends meet, the third-generation Ford worker whose hours are being slashed);
-- Not the scenes of Obama with his daughters, or the interview with Michelle, who notes that her husband read the entire Harry Potter series aloud to his girls;
-- Not the biographical reminders of Obama's story, the mother who died of cancer, the father he never knew;
-- And not the seamless cut-away to Florida where Obama implored a stadium of voters and those watching in tv land that he needs them to knock on doors, make calls and vote.
A flawless sales job, answered in the first commercial break by a John McCain ad challenging the Democrat's experience, asserting that Obama is not ready ... "yet."
And through the gloss, the footage of waves of grain and more, the piece aimed to reassure still skeptical voters that Obama is like them and that he has their needs and deepest worries at heart. The video pitched a measured leader who, for these uncertain times, might have qualities that trump long years of service.
"I’m reminded every single day that I am not a perfect man," Obama said in a voice over. "I will not be a perfect president. But I can promise you this – I will always tell you what I think and where I stand. I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you when we disagree. And most importantly I will open the doors of government and ask you to be involved in your own democracy again."
Are you buying?

I have waited for this for years. I am my brother's keeper. It was a great ad and I know it will be a battle to get all this done , but may we have God's speed with the actions that need to be done to heal this land.
Go Obama. God Bless You.

A great video. This should clinch it. I and my wife are voting for Ralph Nader in a "safe state".

Obama is not a wise man traveling the path less traveled..... he is the BRAVE WISE MAN PAVING A WAY TO HOPE, CHANGE, and INTEGRITY. NOW THAT'S A MAVERICK!!!!!
The video was just too slick. Too Hollywood.
The video was beautifully made but the message was what counts and I don't see how Senator Obama could have made his intentions for our country any clearer. I have already cast my vote for Obama by absentee and every day I am more convenienced that I made the correct choice. And not only because of Obama's plans but because of the hatred that flows from McCain and Palin; very dirty politics only, no substance. Lets hope the country is smarter politically this year than 8 years ago.
Again Pa will show Obama that the state cannot be BOUGHT!
He outspends McCain by 800 million! What a waste of money. Who cares if it is from foreigners?
This disgraceful man, who has ties to the most despicable people in the world, hides his life in sealed school, senate and birth records.
He has spoken disgracefully about America comparing it to Nazi's while his campaign followers make Nazi-like propaganda films with little children singing his praises and his teen national guard troops. Farrakhan calls him the messiah. Black Panthers and Rev Wight love him.
He demeaned our troops as bombers of innocents and destroyers of villages while he pals around with an unrepentant domestic terrorists who bombed our country multiple times. Then gives him 150 million to waste on teaching political anarchy to chicago schools. Wow, no shock it failed to help those poor kids.
He promises large bonuses to those in low income jobs like to triple the EIC bonus from 5k to 15k. He raises SS and Medicare taxes on those making 100k but refunds those making 40k. I guess the working poor wont need that safety net.
He punishes small businesses with his tax plans and health care fines while he takes millions from the CEO's of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac who destroyed our mortgage system for the money they give to Obama! Guess which industry lost thousands of jobs-finance and real estate!
He admits he was a cokehead, had poor grades in Occidental, attends a church that is comitted to Africa and will stand with the Muslims in his books which made him a multi millionaire. Just like us? I dont think so!
But he speaks so pretty and looks so calm and handsome with his $579K campaign wardrobe. But refuses to go to court to prove his citizenship and has the DNC fight for him.
Even his democratic endorsees have to backtrack on what they all said during the primary because they don't think he is fit to lead. He dosen't have one friend from his past to speak up for him.
Hope for the future is fine, action is better. Obama=no action ever! The "Present" Candidate!
Am I buying?
Hell, no.
I say the video and I thought it was great. He did a great job. The people that he on there was everyday people with everyday problem. I could relate to them-because either I have the same problems or I know someone else have the problems.
This election has made people who have never voted to vote. For so long people had been scared away from the voting boothe and don't vote. But this year, people are even standing in line for hours at atime just to vote. This generation willbe the one to make a difference in America and hope a better one.
Michaelene Where have you been? What money from foreigners? The majority of Obama's money has been donated in 5's, 10's and 20's (He has set incredible records with his donations through small bills)His citizenship has never been in question, although McCain's has. This was immediatly taken care of by a democratic Senator who wrote a resolution immediatly to take care of his non-citizenship. Where have you been when his many friends from Chicago and elsewhere have talked with pride about their friend Barack Obama?
