Gingrich Interested In RNC's Top Job
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is interested in the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, his longtime lawyer told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution today.
Gingrich adds his name to a growing list of GOPers intrigued by the party's top job: SC Republican Party chairman Katon Dawson, former Rep. Jim Nussle and former MD Lt. Gov. Michael Steele. RNC Chairman Mike Duncan could also seek another term, sources say.
As the men jockey for position, seeking to lead the party through a time of great soul searching, note that there are others, still unmentioned, who might emerge as candidates, including former Rep. Rob Portman, who campaigned with John McCain and was considered as a possible VP contender.
Party leaders vote in January during the RNC convention in Washington. More to come on this battle -- as well as those interested in replacing Howard Dean at the Democratic National Committee -- in the next weeks. Send tips and tidbits to jskalka@nationaljournal.com.

Katon Dawson is no Republican. The man has sold the South Carolina Republican Party down the river to the likes of moneybags Howie Rich. We need a leader to move the party forward, not an opportunist like Mr. Dawson that would put self above party. If the Grand Old Party can do no better than Mr. Dawson we are doomed to follow the dodo bird into extinction.

Oddly, I believed in Newt. Watched him and like minded Pubs on C-Span in the early days.
He/they had a message worth listening to.
Then He failed his office -book deal- and was light on his Congressional financial disclosure...Oops, just like the Dems.
The Contract with America turned into a memory, the Party sold out big time to Lobbiests' and "special interests'. Six and a half years of opprotunity wasted by greed and self interest that ran from the Whitehouse on down.
The biggest rape of individual rights to privacy since the Constitution was signed.
The loss of honor, rule of law, international fellowship, while cultivating the new image of a bullying, attacking, invader state. And a place in hell for those who started a war for NO reason resultinbg in the loss of over 4000 of Americas best.
Newt's dreamin' or high.
It seems Mr. Struthers needs a straight jacket. I feel Newt would make an excellent RNC leader. Maybe we can recapture Conservatism.

I agree with JGASPER, Struthers is nuts. Newt would make the best RNC leader!
I agree with JGASPER, Struthers is nuts. Newt would make the best RNC leader! He has a brain and knows how to use it.

We need Newt Gingrich back in the fold. He would make a great RNC leader. He would even make a better President. Something for the Party to think about. He should have been running against Obama . Where have our leaders gone and who has scared them off?
struthers is not nuts, he is misinformed. Showing the world that the US will simply not allow nut jobs to kill americans is one of gw's great triumph of his last 8 years. Lowering taxes to all the folks is the only fair thing to do since govt waste/cheats/ and is generally inept. Struthers is correct about the corruption and waste that we have seen over the last 8 years despite increasing tax revenues over 20% compared to clinton's 8 years in the oval office.

re:newt, he would be a fine RNC head, he is articulate and presents cogent arguments. He is also very intelligent and has the intellect to challenge even the great obama.
NEWT!! The party needs Gingrich to make the enormous changes needed if they're to be ready in two years after the ObamaPelosiReedFrank machine shows the true nature of what they plan to jam down everyone's throat. Only Gingrich can kick this group back in shape. The only thing I fault him for was failing to get term limits passed when he had the change. Had that been passed - the likes of Biden, Byrd, et al would no longer be sucking at the collective teet as they have for decades.
Come on, Newt! The party needs your common sense, wisdom and leadership qualities. Looking down the road, we need you in 2012!!! Make the Republican party great as it once was.

Newt should have run this year. However, that may be a blessing because he can now team up with Governor Sarah Palin in 2012. That would be a great team. Also I wish Gov. Palin would explain that the bridge to nowhere, used by many politicians as an example of earmarks, really was not a bridge to nowhere.
I remember the energy crash of 1973 when we imported 24% of our oil and the leaders said we will become self sufficient. Here we are 35 years latter importing 70% of our oil and a month ago at $4 a pop I heard the people say we MUST become self sufficient. Now, with the elections outcome it will be at least another 4 years to get started. Put Newt in the drivers seat that we might move off the dime. I can't hang for ever to vote for our freedom.
Apparently Washington DC has their slogan. Why believe in God just be good for goodness sakes.
Well how about all the christians in the country
just going to Christmas mass and forget the present buying stuff. Christmas is all about the birth of Christ yiou know..
GINGRICH IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
HE'S AN ADULTERER OF THE WORST KIND!
Why Fox allows this immoral filth on the air is beyond me! It is indeed because the GOP has been putting people like this in leadership positions that I voted for a Liberterian for President.
There are good honest people in the GOP but this is not one of them!
