Just Wondering ...
Two conflicting storylines are emerging in the "Hillary Clinton to Foggy Bottom" story these days: One, that B. Clinton will do "whatever it takes" to secure the State Dept. nom for his wife. And two, that HRC is "torn" between taking the sec/state job and remaining in the Senate.
Could it be that the truth is something altogether different -- that vetters have found something (say, in B. Clinton's records?) that would make her a less-than-ideal candidate for a Cabinet post. And the "torn" stories, along with reports that Senate Dem leaders (including Obama ally Ted Kennedy) are working to enhance her Senate profile and portfolio, are nothing more than a well-orchestrated PR effort to create a soft landing for Clinton when Obama passes her over (again)?
Just wondering.
(JOHN MERCURIO)

Wow, that is some excellent journalism. Baseless speculation, rumor mongering, the whole nine yards! Good job, John Mercurio! You deserve a raise!
I think Obama has taken the "team of rivals" too far with Hillary. Yes, he should keep her close, but Secretary of State? Stevie Wonder could see better than that. As an Obama supporter,I think this shows poor judgement on his part. That book is not today's reality and Hillary is still a snake, so when she bites you, don't be surprised!

Zela: You are starting to sound like a Republican. Hillary is an excellent choice, actually the best choice. How soon have you forgotten how hard the Clintons worked on Obama's campaign. I for one will NOT vote for him in 2012 if does not choose her. And..........I am sure many others, like me, will follow suit.
I'm honestly not sure what the Obama supporters were expecting.
They can claim that he beat the pants off HRC in the primaries or they can claim that he won a landslide against John McCain.
But President-elect Obama knows the truth... Hillary Clinton got as many votes as he did in the primaries, and John McCain lead in the national polls until the financial meltdown.
The first place HIllary went to campaign for Obama was Florida.
One of the best speeches of Bill Clinton's life was in Florida campaigning for Obama.
Hillary campaigned hard in Nevada.
Bill Clinton was all over New Hampshire the very last week-end of the campaign.
Bill Clinton is in Georgia campaigning for Obama's 59th seat in the Senate.
Hillary is raising money for Obama's 60th seat in the Senate.
And because of their efforts, their supporters also finally came on board the Obama Express.
Obama's supporters should accept that Hillary Clinton will be SoS in the mode of a Henry Kissinger or a James Baker -- a person with her own strong persona, but also a very loyal soldier.
And also a hard-working shuttle diplomat for a President who believes strongly in diplomacy.
(Yes, both Nixon and GHW Bush were strong diplomats, not warmongers).
Hillary warned Obama that the President of the US shouldn't meet world leaders without pre-conditions.
Obama disavowed his naive attitude in the spin room right after the debate and moved quietly to Hillary's assessment -- an assessment she formulated because she watched the US Presidency from the inside.
Who will now be negotiating the pre-conditions for the President?
The woman who had the right answer in the first place -- Hillary Clinton.
Obama has begged his supporters to unite, not divide.
It would be so HOPEFUL to all of us if they would stop all the whining about their own candidate's decisions and unite with the rest of the world.
The world loves Barack Obama.
The world loves Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Why can't Democrats just get along with one another?
Jan: I could not have said it better. He is building the BEST team yet. And...that includes Hillary.
I think anyone, much less any Democrat, who is either anti-Hillary or anti-Obama is totally insane.
