Obama Transition Team On Bush Meeting

Barack Obama-Joe Biden transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter issued a statement on the president-elect's meeting with President Bush:

“President-elect Barack Obama and Mrs. Michelle Obama were very warmly welcomed today at the White House by President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. Upon arriving, President-elect Obama and President Bush proceeded to the Oval Office, where they had a productive and friendly meeting that lasted for over an hour. They had a broad discussion about the importance of working together throughout the transition of government in light of the nation’s many critical economic and security challenges. President-elect Obama thanked President Bush for his commitment to a smooth transition, and for his and First Lady Laura Bush’s gracious hospitality in welcoming the Obama’s to the White House."

“After a brief private meeting, the First Lady led Mrs. Obama on a tour of the White House that focused primarily on the private residence of the historic home. After this tour, the First Lady and Mrs. Obama visited in the West Sitting Hall, where they discussed raising daughters in the White House, as Jenna and Barbara Bush were similar in age to Malia and Sasha Obama when they visited their grandfather, President George H. W. Bush, during his presidency. Mrs. Obama was honored to finally meet the First Lady, who was a gracious hostess. Following their visit, Mrs. Obama met with Admiral Rochon, the White House Chief Usher.”

Sorry for using this blog area but I do need to make a suggestion to the new President elect and his family. In this state of the economy, we should not be pondering on redecorating the White House... change only essentials as matresses and linen... That allotted monies can go elsewhere. Preside by example...Thank you for your attention

I am one of millions so moved by the leadership talents of our president-elect Obama that I passionately volunteered to make sure we delivered Florida to him.
Unfortunately, I have been unemployed for eight months after being forced to close my small business when the economy took a down turn.I have a Master's degree in Business Administration and still can't find a job to care for my children. My desire is to work with the Obama transition team. Do you know how I can go about doing that?

I really hope that the President-elect will levy tough taxes on those making making over $250,000, because nI live in Rochester,New York and poverty is rampant. We have a 29% poverty rate. I am a doctoral student in Public Policy/Public Adm inistration and I am also disabled. This past year, I filed at least seven discrimination complaints with the New York State division of Human Rights. It is really time for the President-elect to assure the disabled community that he will get tough on those who violate the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

A suggestion concerning the bail out of the auto industry. Why not double unemployment for those who loose their jobs when the auto industry goes kaput. This way, the free enterprise system will dictate what car manufacturer is best in quality and meeting the demands of the public. American Auto makers will then learn to compete with foreign auto makers and produce a better more efficeint product. If Congress chooses to bail them out, they will continue to produce gas guzzling inferior products. Helping banks deliver more credit to the masses will also have the same effect. Let the people choose what they know to be the better products instead of shoving junk down our throats.
