The Senate hasn't voted yet on the economic stimulus package backed by Pres. Obama, but Americans United for Change will begin airing new radio ads over the next few days thanking Republican Sen. Susan Collins of ME, Sen. Olympia Snowe of ME and Sen. Arlen Specter of PA as well as Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of NE for backing the economic stimulus bill. Reports indicate that these GOP members could vote with the Democrats to pass the legislation, giving the majority a 60-vote (or more) filibuster-proof majority.
Americans United for Change, a coalition of progressive groups, has flooded the airwaves and cable in recent days, targeting 13 of 41 GOP senators in an effort to help Obama and Democratic congressional leaders garner bipartisan support for the bill. With the House GOP voting unanimously against that chamber's version, it's up to Senate leaders to corral a few Republican members. Otherwise, and probably still, the Democrats, and Obama, in particular, will have full ownership of the success or failure of the $800B package of tax cuts and spending initiatives.

Last month nearly 600,000 Americans lost their jobs - 20,000 a day - more than 800 an hour.The clock's ticking - and our economy continues to get worse and worse.
That's why it's critical that the Senate pass President Obama's jobs and economic recovery bill right away.

No to “stimulus” bill. Here’s why:
Since Obama’s earnest drive to convince the nation to weaken its economic strength through redistribution as well as weaken its national defense, has confirmed the very threats to our Republic’s survival that the Constitution was designed to avert, it no longer is sustainable for the United States Supreme Court and Military Joint Chiefs to refrain from exercising WHAT IS THEIR ABSOLUTE CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY TO DEFEND THE NATION FROM UNLAWFUL USURPATION. The questions of Obama’s Kenyan birth and his father’s Kenyan/British citizenship (admitted on his own website) have been conflated by his sustained unwillingnes to supply his long form birth certificate now under seal, and compounded by his internet posting of a discredited ‘after-the-fact’ short form ‘certificate’. In the absence of these issues being acknowledged and addressed, IT IS MANIFEST THAT OBAMA REMAINS INELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT UNDER ARTICLE 2 OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION. Being a 14th Amendment ‘citizen’ is not sufficient. A ‘President’ MUST BE an Article 2 ‘natural born citizen’ AS DEFINED BY THE FRAMERS’ INTENT.
What leadership? There hasn't been any leadership.
Obama missed a window of opportunity to sit down with the leadership and tell them in no uncertain terms what kind of bill he expected to sign. Instead he and Rahm have made process a priority instead of policy.
Collins and Nelson gutted the stimulus bill. Many of the cuts would disproportionately affect women and children — similar to the cuts to the House bill. "...Collins and Nelson are nitpicking important stimulus funding that would benefit working Americans and their children, after they voted for giving $700 billion to Wall St. with no oversight. Thank them for their leadership? Hardly. They ought to be run out of town for it.
