Sessions, Hear For Yourself
Here's an audio snippet of our interview with Rep. Pete Sessions, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, during which he said the GOP needs to employ insurgent tactics against House Democratic leaders unwilling to compromise on the stimulus proposal.

He said more than they need to use insurgent tactics -- he said they needed to learn from the Taliban, the folks who are blowing up American soldiers in Afghanistan.
Now imagine if a Democrat had said that? There would be few calm posts like this, but screaming quotes from all over the right wing reposed right here and on every other major newspaper.
Republicans say outrageous and hateful things and it gets a calm post like this. Democrats make a slip of the tongue and Drudge and Rush get days of quotes. Pathetic.
What on earth is Sessions thinking? At a time of economic collapse, when millions of Americans are hurting due in large part to Republican policies of the last eight years, he's now telling us that the GOP should model itself on an anti-American, anti-western, fundamentalist extremist sect doing everything it can to undermine reasonable discourse and effective action? And these are the folks with whom President Obama is supposed to "compromise?"
This is beyond strange, beyond partisan, beyond even "the politics of hate." What Sessions is saying is that the Republican Party is dedicating itself to ensuring that America collapses, in order to reap potential political gains. If that isn't treason, it sure as hell comes close.
