VA GOV: McDonnell Airs First TV Ad

With less than a month until the Dem primary for VA governor, GOP nom Bob McDonnell is airing his first TV ad. The spot -- dubbed "Experience" -- will run on broadcast and cable in Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke, Harrisonburg and Charlottesville, according to the campaign.

The 30-second ad emphasizes his service in the Army, work at a health care company and touts his "middle class roots." Blink and you'll miss the tag that references McDonnell as "a jobs governor." Features video of him walking on the beach with his wife and a shot of the McDonnells with their five children perched on a front porch.

The buy is more than $200K.

McDonnell has been quietly raising money while the three Dem candidates -- Terry McAuliffe, Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds -- duke it out for the party's nomination. McDonnell, who resigned in February as state AG, is the only candidate in the pack to have won a statewide race. He defeated Deeds by fewer than 400 votes.

Va should take the $125.5 million and use it to strengthen our unemployment insurance program. Yes, $20 million will be used through 2010 to aid many, unemployed Virginians, who were part-time workers or who are in training programs, but that is a good thing! In late 2010, the GA will have more data on the costs of these options and can decide, then, to continue them or repeal them.

If Virginia does not take the $125.5 million, then it will go to the states, whose legislators are more interested in aiding their constituents than in playing self-serving, stupid, political games!

In personally convincing the Republican GA members to vote against taking the $125.5 million, McDonnell has shown his preference for stupid, self-serving, political games over the best interest of Virginia’s citizens and his inability to make the tough but correct decisions needed to properly lead Virginia!

Have a Nice Day!

Maybe there is a deeper story to McDonnell rejecting the Federal money than just declaring he hates working Virginians and is a one sided man?

People will lay into him for this but with little research on the subject.

The Federal government has tied strings to this money. The money is poisoned!

Taking the stimulus money forces States to change their laws! If a State wants the money it must first do everything that the Feds want them to do before they'll see a dime of it!

The States must then spend the money exactly as the Feds want them to, with little or no respect as to what the States' needs are.

Who is the Federal government to take trillions of dollars from fascist countries like China that have long histories of failing to respect human rights and then shove the money down the States' throats all the while forcing the States to bend to Federal will with an agenda that no one wants.

All of this money is bankrupting our nation and is binding our free nation to dependency on ANOTHER fascist freedom hating country! Not to mention the TERRIBLE tax burden that has not been placed on our children and grandchildren! That is who is paying for all of this! You simply don't get a loan for $700,000,000,000+ dollars and not have to pay it back, WITH INTEREST!

It's just like our energy policy has been! We can't supply our energy needs, so what do we do? We beg and grovel on our knees in the middle east and say that age old proverb "Please Sir, may I have some more?"

When is enough going to be enough?! Now we are playing the same game with money. We can't pay for our nation's needs anymore so we must now crawl overseas to a fascist communist nation on our knees and please "Please Sir, may I have some more?".

Am I the last and person who is tired of this? Who actually still believes that we are still the most powerful nation in the world? We aren't because of tactics like this by our leaders, but mind you, some Republicans are to blame too. I am not laying the blame on one party.

Here is reality: If the Middle Eastern nations say "No more oil for the US" and China says "No more loans for the US" our entire country will halt overnight. We will not have energy for transportation, for growing food, for powering our homes, or even worse, our military will be out of gas and will shut down. With no money, all government services will cease. No more welfare. No more police, fire, and EMS services. Gonna dial 911? Better not, there is no funding to pay for the phone lines that are being used.

We need desperately to get out of this dependency! We must!

So when someone tells me that McDonnell has gotten together with other Virginia Delegates and Senators of both parties and has put a stop to the taking of Federal money, I say hooray! I say thank you!

I say let us deal with our issues with some degree of self-sufficiency! I say let us Virginian reform our policies and government in a way that allows us to live safe, free and protected in a manor we can AFFORD! Money is not infinite and we cannot continue down this path of "We are out of money, let us simply print more!"

Economics does not work that way. When the foreign banks come to D.C. for the US Government to make good on it's debts and they cannot pay back what they have taken, I pray for this nation. I really do.

This has nothing to do with McDonnell not wanting to help those that have lost their jobs. He cares for them just like the other red-blooded Americans who work their fingers to the bone day in and day out.

McDonnell wants to help them in ways that are PRACTICAL!

No more Band-Aid's for this broken economy! No more quick loans to fix everything! We need LONG-TERM solutions!

We don't need tainted Federal money borrowed from overseas that have string attached and that force states to alter the laws of their people.

We need long term solutions that have the best outlooks for success!

Increasing unemployment benefits for the short term does little to nothing to help if, at the end of those extended benefits, there are STILL no jobs!

We need to cut taxes, lower spending and create JOBS! We need jobs now!

No more loans. No more Band-Aids. No more short term "feel good" legislation that takes on the guise of helping others that the Democrats keep shoving through.

We need SOLUTIONS! McDonnell is the best one to provide them.

The airwaves are saturated with "Common Sense VA" spots claiming that Mr. McDonnel stood in the way of VA's unemployed getting some federal relief. These claims have gone pretty much ananswered.

If the CSV ads don't get answered, effectively and soon, Virginia will have ANOTHER governor from the Democratic Party.
