BREAKING: Senate Judiciary Votes, 13-6, For Sotomayor

Along largely partisan lines, the Senate Judiciary Cmte backed SCOTUS appointee Sonia Sotomayor, Pres. Obama's first high court pick, this morning by a 13-6 vote.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was the only Republican to support Sotomayor. The Senate cmte's Dems voted unanimously for the Bronx native.

The full Senate will vote next, but with the Dems' 60-vote majority, Sotomayor's confirmation is all but a done deal. She will be the first individual of Hispanic heritage to sit on the SCOTUS.

It's bad enough we have Ruth Bader Ginsberg...now Sonia Sotomayer. For life!!!

What a sad day for justice!! God help us! We better buy guns while we still have a 2nd amendment! Pray that the conservatives on the Court stay healthy!!

Aren't you forgetting Cardozo?

What a shock! Stotmayer is approved! Some great Republican leadership, huh? Hey Lindsey, you're a rock.

The way this country is going just makes me sad.

Lindsey Graham gets it. He's a hero among bigots! Cornyn and Sessions are serving their last terms -- this is not their daddies' USA.

Hey Patriot, I think you meant that Sotomayor is the bigot. Could imagine for a nanosecond a white male being confirmed if he had said he judicial decisions were better because he was a 'wise white man' or if he had belonged to all white judicial organizations? Or, if the the white male was unruled in his decisions by the Supreme Court 70% of the time to flaws in reasoning?

Sotomanure is the real bigot ok Patriot

He doesn't count, for having the unfortunate pedigree of being nominated by a Republican.

We in San Antonio are excited about Sotomayor. She will do a great job. Our senator missed the boat though. His opposition to Judge Sotomayor is thoughtless, thankless and inconsistent with the people of Texas. I am puzzled, but perhaps this is his last term as my Senator. I welcome a difference of opinion, but Senator Cornyn has defied the will of the people here in Texas.

To paraphrase Leftist porker Jamie Nadler, this woman has the "Whiff" of racism and ethnocentrism about her. Nobody about whom there is even the hint of such persuasions should be allowed a judgeship in this country, much less a seat on the Supreme Court.

Moreover, selecting ANYONE for ANY position in either the public OR private sector based on their gender or ethnic origin, is too contemptible for words. Obama and his leftist cohorts both in and out of Congress should be ashamed of themselves - but the Left, as it has demonstrated for more than a century now, is completely shameless.
