Conservative Bloggers Critical Of Palin
Blogometer's Ian Faerstein combed the Web for conservative react to Gov. Sarah Palin's decision to step down.
Plaudits are scarce:
National Review's Kathryn Jean Lopez: "If she is stepping down because of what politics has done to her family, because of something in her family life she doesn't want to see as David Letterman fodder, because it's impossible to be governor, a star, and a mom to an infant ... this is good. It demonstrates good judgment and priorities."
And of course, Bill Kristol thinks it's a smart move:
"If Palin wants to run in 2012, why not do exactly what she announced today? It's an enormous gamble - but it could be a shrewd one."
Criticisms are more plentiful:
The American Spectator's Quin Hillyer: "Sarah Palin's resignation is an appalling dereliction of duty and a highly cynical move to set herself up for a presidental run for which she is manifestly unqualified. [...] Statesmen hang tough. Sarah Palin is cutting and running. 'Nuff said."
National Review's Jim Geraghty: "Departing with little or no warning, after about 30 months in office, is beyond surprising. I'm sure the Lieutenant Governor will do fine, but there's definately a sense of leaving with work unfinished and as her career was just beginning to take off."
Townhall's Carol Platt Liebau: "I have not always agreed with every decision Governor Palin made over the past six months. But I am disappointed if she decides to withdraw from the national scene and deprives us all of the chance to see her show up her low-minded and nasty critics."

I already miss the geese honking in the background.
Quitters do not win national elections. She has branded herself as a quitter.
Think that Palin is merely taking a TIME OUT!! She has wasted a vast amount of time responding to "liberal lillies" -- not to mention the cost of frivolous allegations and suits.
Truth be known, too many women (and some liberal commentators) of the far left persuasion are intimidated by the appearance and abilities of Palin. She drew the crowds for McCain (NOT McCAIN!). She took them by surprise, and later by storm!
Wherever she goes, she draws a crowd. Think that the far left fears her, and she found that she was not going to be able to accomplish her job as she would like in Alaska while the left -- and comedians like Dave Letterman -- continued their distractions. Palin had the ability to make sense of major issues where joe six pack would get it. This drove the liberals into frenzies – especially when she did it with her hands full as a mom!! The real big deal was her stance on human life (anti abortion).
The current reactions from the pseudo intellectuals is evidence of her holding their attention. Disdain? Yes, but predicated on fear of Palin’s magnetic abilities.
I am not a Palin fan, but it sure has been interesting to see how she -- single handedly -- worked the left's underwear into a knot, and did not let it go!! Actually, it was humorous!!!
PS: For those who want to criticize Palin for not completing her term as governor, please respond to this question: How many terms did the current occupant of the White House complete in elective office prior to moving to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue??
why be stuck working hard to actually govern when you can earn mega-bucks spouting ignorant drivel on Fox or in private venues. she was ill-suited to elective office, but now has a chance to be the Che Guevara of the emerging right-wing rebellion that Fox is fomenting.until the IRS catches up with her, anyway...
