Blame For Recession Shifting To Dems?
The electorate is more likely to blame Dems for the economic recession in the latest sign that the '10 midterms could greatly benefit the GOP.
A new CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll shows 38% of Americans blame GOPers for economic problems, down 15 points from a May survey. Dems are fingered by 27% of respondents, up 6 points from May.
What's more, even after the $787B stimulus measure, 63% of voters said Pres. Obama has either worsened or had no effect on economic conditions, while 36% say he has improved the economy.
Dems have signaled they will continue to pin the blame on ex-Pres. Bush for the country's bad economic shape. In an interview with Hotline OnCall, DSCC chairman Bob Menendez said his party needs to remind voters how bad the crisis was when Pres. Obama took office, even though unemployment has jumped to more than 10%.
"We will remind people both who bequeathed to the country the hard economic situation we have and who was in power when premiums for insurance purposes went out of the roof and insurance companies were allowed to deny with impugnity," Menendez said. "It will be a clear contrast."
But Bush is no longer in office, and GOPers scoff at the notion that he will play anywhere near the role he played in hurting their party in the '06 and '08 elections. Instead, party strategists point to Obama's approval rating as the key to their success. Some GOP pollsters are already telling their clients to cast the economy as Obama's fault.

According to a presentation put together by Public Opinion Strategies and passed around by NRCC insiders, if an incumbent's approval rating is over 60%, his party has historically gained seats in midterm elections. If the approval rating is between 50% and 59% on Election Day, the incumbent's party has historically lost between 5-9 seats. But when an incumbent's numbers fall below 50%, a wave election is likely, with the incumbent party losing an average of 30 seats.
If those trends are accurate, Dems should start to worry. At the moment, Obama's approval rating hovers at 50.5%, according to the latest Pollster.com average.

There will be a greater Cost to this Nation if healthcare costs are not reformed and stabablized! It makes no good sense for anyone to oppose healthcare reform. It seems some are more worried about Insurance companies being crowded out due to competition and lower costs than the Health of the people, some who will surely die. Some are more concerned for the bottomline of the Insurance Companies than the small businesses (who they Pretend to care about) who have to pay high premiums for their employees, forcing some out of business, some to offer no health insurance, or some to set up shop elsewhere other than the United States! Small businesses will not be forced to offer health insurance for their employees but employees will have the option to buy their own affordable healthcare from a public option! And why do we have so many kinds of crises in this country????
It is too bad that we have a certain group -- the Party of No and Fear -- who are Advocates of Can't, Won't, Shouldn't, Distortion, Fear, Hatred and Divisiveness. They are a dark group, a bitter group, concerned only for Corporate Greed and corporate Profit, who do not believe that government can work because they do not want it to work! For too long we have been spoon-fed a bunch of lies and fears by these powers who want to immobilize us, paralyze us and confuse us and to keep us circling the Yellow Brick Road! Again, why do we have so many crises in this country???
And, It is a sad fact that the Afghanistan War is also a false war and a false choice. These terrorists do not stay in one place or in one country, they are all over. We are not at war with any one country, this is a fallacy. WE are in a "struggle" with an ideology, yes or evil, yes, but we are not at war with any country. Since, we have terrorists in our own country who are not Muslims, does this make us at war with the United States?
OH, if we only had a Brain....., Courage....., Heart/LOVE!
Car insurance always seems so over prices these days. I often ponder that it might be more affordable not to bother with it!
I am definitely bookmarking this page and sharing it with my friends.
