House Min. Whip Eric Cantor weighed in on the VA GOV race on "Hardball" this p.m.

Cantor, on ex-AG Bob McDonnell's (R) victory: "This is a warning shot to the moderate Democrats to say, 'Hey, wait a minute, maybe we ought to try another way. Maybe there is a better way."

Cantor, on McDonnell not using ex-AK Gov. Sarah Palin (R) more: "Virginia has always been a commonsense conservative state. There are millions of voters here who embraced Sarah Palin. Obviously, millions who are embracing Bob McDonnell. Our state is one that is a center-right state. I think it is reflective of where the nation is, and that's why we are very excited about what this win tonight will mean for our prospects in November of 2010."

Cantor, on whether VA voters would find Palin "frightening": "You just said that Bob McDonnell won the day on a positive message. So here you go again, that's the kind of politics that people are rejecting" (MSNBC, 11/3).
