CT-SEN: Simmons V. McMahon

By Jamie Shufflebarger and Cyra Master

The race to face Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) could be down to a two-person contest as early as this week as ex-Amb. to Ireland Tom Foley (R) is expected to announce he will drop his bid and instead focus on the open GOV race.

His exit, as well as state Sen. Sam Caligiuri's (R) deicision to run for Congress, would leave the well-known ex-Rep. Rob Simmons (R) and well-funded ex-WWE CEO Linda McMahon (R) competing for the nomination.

In an interview with Greenwich Times 12/1 Foley "said that he has spoken with more than 100 people over the weekend about running for governor." Foley: "The response is almost unanimously that I should run for governor, but I still have not made a decision."

"Tom is looking at the changed political landscape with a view of evaluating whether his background as a business executive who knows how to create jobs is a better fit for the office of governor," Eric Fehrnstrom, a Foley advisor, told the Hartford Courant.

Simmons is expected to receive the majority of the backing that went to Caligiuri and Foley, but McMahon's self-funded and aggressive campaign will present a stiff challenge. The NRSC has said it will not take sides in the primary, according to spokesman Brian Walsh. Before McMahon joined the race, the NRSC was clearly leaning toward Simmons.

"Either candidate will be able to take advantage of the fact that Connecticut voters have a fundamental lack of trust with Dodd. I mean, he has near 100% name ID, and has spent $500,000 on TV already, and his poll numbers keep getting lower," Walsh said. "Either Simmons or McMahon will be a clear improvement."

Speaking of ad buys, McMahon is up with a $500K ad buy herself. Her ability to spend money on her own bid will give her the chance to reduce the name recognition advantage Simmons holds.

Meanwhile, it's a wise move for Foley: No GOPers have officially announced for the GOP nod, but Foley and LG Mike Fedele (R) are expected to be the best-known candidates in a packed field.

What about Schiff? Interesting.

Yes, what about Peter Schiff?

Would like to see this article edited to accurately reflect the happenings in my state of Connecticut.

No mention of Schiff? These journalist are guilty of yellow journalism and are a disgrace to their profession!

Peter Schiff would be a better candidate then either one of these guys. He has an excellent track record at being correct.
twitter/tfoston

Your article failed to mention Peter Schiff, who's also running for the Republican nomination. He's hardly such an unknown that he could be dismissed so easily: the YouTube video "Peter Schiff Was Right" has over a million and a half views -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I0QN-FYkpw

You forgot to mention the only candidate worth mentioning.

Peter Schiff, is probably one of the few voices that will truly be an alternative voice to Chris Dodd's. Was the omission intentional, or other-than-the-best journalism?

Way to leave out Schiff. Nice to see yellow journalism is still trying to stifle Austrian Economists. Please at least mention all the candidates running for office next time.

Did I miss something? Let me see... NOPE, I didn't - Peter Schiff is still in the race. Very much in the race. SO much so, that when he gets the nod, I'll remind you about this article.

Tremendous work you two. Outstanding research.

I think Peter Schiff was head-to-head versus Dodd in the last poll and now he's not mentioned? What were the Schiff versus Dodd polling numbers please?

It is truly disturbing that you failed to mention Peter Schiff in this article. You're only going to attract more attention for him anyways due to the volume of disgruntled readers.

What a stupid article!
You didn't even mention Peter Schiff!

Schiff doesn't count. He's not a liberal and inside the beltway "newsletters" like this one only recognize liberals as legitimate candidates in Connecticut.

Peter Schiff raised more money in Q3 than any other candidate despite not having even formally announced his candidacy.

It seems incompetence knows no bounds.

How exactly does one leave out the leading Republican fundraiser (Schiff) when reporting on this Senate race?

ummmmmm.....Schiff!

What about Peter Schiff????

He is a registered candidate... He has raised the most money... He has probably been on more major media than the other candidates....

Why omit him from this "article"

Why no mention of Schiff? Phony writier...

No Peter Schiff? Why would I want to know about the candidates that I've already written off as special interest puppets? Is this what they call reporting? For the sake of our country I hope nobody takes these two hacks seriously.

Seriously, WTF?
There's not even a mention of Peter Schiff - the only sane candidate in this group.

What stupid online press. Not even worth the title of "journal".

What about Peter Schiff, he is the best choice!

Wow, I really hope Schiff beats those other two now. He is the best candidate.

No Peter Schiff?

Are you dumb or just evil?

Every comment on here is about Peter Schiff, what does that tell you about who has the most support?

Why didn't you include Peter Schiff in your article?

Hey. What about Peter Schiff? We don't want to spam your comments. We just want the truth.

You forgot to mention the only candidate that predicted the economic meltdown and wasn't blind-sided drinking the government Kool-Aid; Peter Schiff. And when you compare what he has to say compared to the two "front-runners", it's clear who the best choice is. To not mention him is incompetent journalism.

I also am concerned that Schiff was not listed. Do they not want to let people know Schiff exists just like no one ever reports about Michael Savage in any main stream news outlet?

Wow. Seems the only publicity this article is getting is through its poor journalism. Either its bias or bad reporting. Either or both it brings down the credibility of its publications.

Media at work to tell you who the front runners are and to leave out the candidates with the most support... No mention of Schiff, given how much money he's raised and how much support he has from people I've talked with in CT, where I grew up means only one thing. This article is an obvious media attempt to sway the sheep towards the candidates that will support a militaristic state determined to destroy their currency.

And Schiff?

I must know, did you leave out Peter Schiff intentionally?

I am a CT republican and nobody here cares about Schiff. It's going to be a two person race. If anything Schiff runs as a third party candidate.

There seems to be a running theme here in the comments, and the opposite theme in the article

Don't count Peter out, Jason. Flying under the radar has it's benefits. Lame writer. Report ALL facts, not just your diluted version. Shame....

Really, no Schiff? Our political system is flat out rigged! They aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

It took two people to write that article and you still couldn't get it right?

Uh, what about Peter Schiff? The only real candidate that's running. Interesting how you left him out.

Schiff?

Hello?

Did we forget someone????

Schiff, perhaps?

Maybe someone needs to call your bosses???

So is disregarding the top Republican fundraiser, Peter Schiff fall under the "evolving wisdom" portion of your site, or the "original political reporting?"

This is terrible journalism - How could you leave out Peter Schiff?

Knock, knock. Who's there? Peter. Peter who?
PETER F@#*$*! SCHIFF!!!!!!!

What about Peter Schiff? Completely ignoring a candidate is irresponsible journalism bordering on propaganda.

You forgot a big candidate...Peter Schiff? Where is he?

haha, garbage. i'm sure Schiff wasn't intentionally left out of this, riiiight?! garbage journalism indeed.

Censorship in the Media??? Noooooo, couldn't happen right?

No mention of Peter Schiff = CENSORSHIP pure and simple.

What are you afraid of?

Google - "Peter Schiff was right"

Then vote for the only person who knows what he is talking about.

"How exactly does one leave out the leading Republican fundraiser (Schiff) when reporting on this Senate race?"

Dirty politics and incompetent journalism???

http://schiffforsenate.com/

Why not mention the man who predict the ecomic fallout Peter Schiff.

Is this a joke? Not a single mention of Peter Schiff? Need I say why? To think Simmons or McMahon are going to run away with this is ridiculous.

You didn't even mention the leading Republican fundraiser of them all... the guy who is going to win and do CT proud... Mr. Peter Schiff. Seriously, what kind of journalism is this article?

Wheres Peter Schiff?? This isn't reporting, its censorship!! You are doing the american republic a grave disservice with this slanted reporting!

Pretending that Peter Schiff does not exist will not make him go away. It's funny how some candidates are completely ignored unless there is something negative to say about them.

And Schiff?

somebody didn't do their homework...
not even a mention for Peter Schiff?

I live in Oregon and am watching this race closer than any other...
Schiff will get the W- the National Journal might start paying attention then, wouldn't ya think?

PETER SCHIFF!!!! The article is just another example of how the main stream media is a tool of the elitists. Dodd deserves to be sent home for good.

In other news, the authors of this article have been found living in a Schiff-Way house recovering from their establishment addiction and very poor journalism skills, soon they will be fit to once again report accurate news instead of this hogwash they currently do.

"We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid."-Benjamin Franklin

haha, these comments are amazing! peter schiff was right! and still is.

Excuse me.. where is Peter Schiff?

@Jason-
If you don't care about Schiff, you just aren't paying attention.
wake up and find your pulse-

who owns this publication?-I'll bet my last dime that if you follow the money- you'll find out why Schiff is excluded from this poor excuse for journalism!

@Ross

How can Jason find a 'pulse' when he has no brainwaves!

Someone forgot Peter Schiff, or decided to leave him out.

In a way I like articles such as this.It helps weed out who the pro-establishment is.Oh...and yeah, Peter Schiff is the best man for the job.

Since obviously you have worked hard to remain clueless as journalists, here is a link that might help you learn about that other candidate: http://schiffforsenate.com/

If any of you have not seen the Schiff/Fed Reserve debate that was hosted by Yahoo Finance, youtube it.

I have to dismiss the entire article because it seems this publication doesn't know how to do their homework. Peter Schiff is a prominent candidate for this race. Makes me wonder what else has been conveniently left out!

Jason wrote: "I am a CT republican and nobody here cares about Schiff."
That's surprising, he's such an intelligent candidate. Don't people in CT want good representation?

Peter Schiff's policies are infintely more sound than these lesser candidates

There is no candidate named Schiff. For that matter, there was no Ron Paul in the 2008 election. Our newspaper has provided the names that shall enter voters' consciousness. These candidates are fine men who will support and uphold the system. Move along, now. Don't think too much. Turn on the TV and see what Tiger Woods is up to. Go to your nearest mall and buy something from China. Move along.

What about Schiff??

Two journalist WHORES wrote this article.

Peter Schiff raises over $1million and is not even mentioned in this "article"???????

Would the authors show some courtesy to the readers and elaborate why they excluded Peter Schiff?

Is it because other candidates have proven records of thorough comprehension of economic issues? Perhaps it is all about who can be a successful fundraiser? Or, is it simply an arbitrary decision to apply pedestrian journalism in what appears to be a popular sport of creating instead of reporting the news?

It took two people to write this and they still couldn't get all the facts.

There was a guy named Peter Schiff..
You know, one of the few guys who predicted the financial catastrophe...
And the guy who got more than 1 million $ in donations..

You know, the guy a lot of people would like to see in the Senate.

CT has a chance to elect a great Senator. But you didn't mention his name in the article.

Schiff for Senate. Only candidate worth voting for.

GOT SHIFF? This is Propaganda, welcome to the change Amerika

Where's Peter Schiff?

the real patriot act
exsposing, identifying, arresting, prosecuting and upon conviction of treason executing zionist traitors is not anti-semitic. got rope?

LOL... came to comment just to ask about Peter Schiff, but looks like just one or two folks beat me to the punch...maybe that should tell the author something? Like maybe, wake up?

What about Schiff?

No Schiff? The reporters are either incompetent for not doing any research or are actively censoring Peter Schiff's name from their readers.

Are guys just unintelligent, bad journalists, or did you really not have a clue that Peter Schiff was running?
Or do you simply not like him and therefore, not even recognize him?

I’m honestly confused and amazed that your publication completely left out the senate candidate that has not outraised Simmons and McMahan on several levels, but who is known as a financial genius. Clearly, I’m talking about Peter Schiff

please get it right, or don’t expect people to use you as a serious source of news.

CORRECTION: "I’m honestly confused and amazed that your publication completely left out the senate candidate that has not ONLY outraised Simmons and McMahan on several levels, but who is known as a financial genius. Clearly, I’m talking about Peter Schiff"

Seriously? You can't even make up this level of incompetence. Retraction please..

Simmons will take the neo-con vote, Mcmahon will take the dumbass vote, leaving Schiff to waltz in for the win(assuming the CT GOP is not plagued with a neo-con dumbass majority :(

Peter Schiff is the only credible candidate in this election. If your newspaper expects to survive in the coming days of depression and super-inflation both predicted by Peter Schiff, you should begin reporting the real news, not the incomplete story above.

The name to place into your article is: PETER SCHIFF

Not a word about Peter Schiff.... maybe someone should send the writers of this article some videos about him since they must not know who he is.

It would be nice to see an editorial tomorrow explaining the exclusion of Peter Schiff from this article.

When it comes to the economy remember that Peter Schiff predicted all this.

Cut them some slack, please. Obviously, this is an establishment GOP press release. Rule one: don't mention your opponent's name.

Did anyone else notice Peter Schiff wasn't mentioned??? Ok, yeah, so looks like the only fools in the rooms are the 'journalist' of this waste of words.

After reading this article, two words come to mind: "YOU LIE!"

This is not reporting, this is pure corporatist-influenced propaganda. If these comments were an election, Dodd and What's-His-Name would be decimated.

Recommendation:

1. Go to: YouTube
2. Type: Peter Schiff Was Right
3. Watch and learn

There's also this Schiff guy. Look him up.

"Media" pretend a false left/right paradigm. Truth is they ignore those whom prefer freedom over fascism/statism. Peter Schiff is a valid and strong candidate, ignoring him shows your adjenda.

did yo forget schiff

CT has 1 chance to get this right. You're LUCKY to have Schiff running in your State... wish he was running in Arizona!!!! Sick of McCain... sick of welfare/warfare/wiretap tyranny. Do your paper a favor and FEATURE SCHIFF.

I think you forgot to mention a very popular candidate -- Peter Schiff. I have donated to his campaign and will do so again.

Indeed, it seems that the editors of these articles despite writing political pieces, seem quite disconnected from an entire section of the race. It interesting that political opinonal editorial writers are so oblivious or inconsiderate as to include all the candidates. Mere coincidence? Intentional censorship?

Future Senator Peter Schiff?
Now that would revive this tired old paper. Look at the attention a journalistic flub got the "Journal".
Can you imagine if they did a feature article on a candidate who can actually govern in the interest of the 'people' vs. the banking/insurance industry?
Readership would explode!

PETER SCHIFF is the only man running who is honest. He is the only one who has a understanding about the economy. My vote is for Peter Schiff. SCHIFF HAPPENS. GO PETER.

No mention of Peter Schiff? Maybe that's why CT is so screwed financially. They only drink the Dodd Kool-Aide.

Thanks for not mentioning the only candidate that can beat me. Your check is in the mail.

What about Peter Schiff?

http://www.facebook.com/PeterSchiff?ref=nf

This is the ONLY candidate running against DUD as far as I am concerned. The rest I wouldn't vote for if Ayn Rand herself endorsed them from beyond the grave.

The vast majority of the comments on this article make note of the 'elephant in the room' omission of Peter Schiff.

Now that your readers have called you out; future omission will tell the story of whether or not this was intentional.

Peter Schiff has raised over a million dollars for the senate race, its more then surprising that this article would make no mention of him at all.

Is it possible that this is a mistake? Can TWO journalists make the same mistake and not know or try to know who is running against Depression Dodd?

Here ya go Jamie Shufflebarger and Cyra Master. You can cheat off me. I won't tell your boss that he should question your professional abilities:

From SchiffForSenate.com
Peter is not a politician and has never held elected office.

Peter is a Connecticut native, and the third generation to call the Nutmeg state home. His paternal grandfather settled in Connecticut at the turn of the century, working as a skilled laborer on a number of local landmarks including the Yale Bowl. Connecticut continues to play a central role in Peter’s life. He chose Westport as the headquarters for his business EuroPacific Capital and lives in Weston, Connecticut.

Peter is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and studied finance and accounting.

Peter Schiff is a successful businessman, bestselling author, and economic expert.

In 2006, Peter sounded the alarm that the US economy was facing significant challenges as the credit and housing bubbles neared price deflation. His numerous appearances on national television such as CNBC, FOX Business, and MSNBC, predicted the recession and was met with skepticism by established insiders.

Peter maintains that government intervention through regulation, stimulus, and bailouts can only worsen our economic crisis. Peter has been a vocal critic of the economic stimulus packages proposed by both President Obama and President George W. Bush, while other Republicans remained silent and on the sidelines.

He believes that, out of only 100 members of the US Senate, at least one Connecticut Republican should have the voice that can keep the government from going wild.

Where's Peter Schiff?? He's trying to save this country by exposing the Fed. Dodd want's to empower them even more, and enslave us more throught debt and taxes. No mention of Schiff are serious!! Who's the HACK who wrote, and edited this??

I think you forgot someone ... his name is Peter Schiff. http://schiffforsenate.com/
Won't you look silly when he wins.

The media is a big problem in our society. All propoganda now, no real news reporting. Take back your country before it's too late.... Oh ya, no mention of PETER SCHIFF?

Schiff? Nono, the higher ups told us to drop that down the memory hole.

I heard this Peter Schiff guy was running.

Peter Schiff is the best person who is running and he has done nothing, but give good advise for all of us to gain profit from and avoid disaster. Maybe if Dodd listened to him years ago our whole country and possibly the world would be better off right now.

My first time to ever even hear or visit this website.

If by "original political reporting" you mean "the political reporting website you've never heard of or will never visit" then you would be correct.

Enjoy being 'original' on the bottom.

Schiff to senate !

What about Peter Schiff?

He predicted the financial recession.

And he raised 1 million dollars last quarter.

Where is the Grand Master Schiff in this article?
I am glad and surprise that Schiff has many supporters backing him up. Thank all of y'all for that. As for the queer that wrote this article I know he is going to get burned for this. I want to see a public apology to Mr. Schiff on tv.

If Schiff isn't elected then the senate will continue to have 100 folks that have no clue. How about showing Schiff some love.

Schiff is getting the same treatment that the media gave to Ron Paul -- isolate and leave behind. If McMahon then gets the Republican nod, the media will suddenly 'discover' that there was another candidate in the race and use Schiff's views to attack McMahon to the betterment of Dodd's chances.

What an astounding disservice to the state of CT and the country by this 'journalist.'

This article is an example of some seriously lazy journalism. To not even mention Peter Schiff - one of the very few economists right about the housing bubble, credit collapse and dollar devaluation is ridiculous. Schiff should gain soon on his economically clueless RINO opponents.

I think a few people mentioned it already, but didn't you leave out Peter Schiff?

He is the only one with a real chance on winning and you elect to keep him out of the media?

wondering why you did not even so much as mention Peter Schiff.. he is the top republican fundraiser and he predicted the collapse..

whats the deal?

WTF??? WHERE IS PETER SCHIFF???

This is retard journalism at its finest.

Get a grip. Get a dose of Schiff.

You call this a journal? HA, when you leave out Peter Schiff, you've formally declared yourself anything but a journal.

PETER SCHIFF 2010!

This site's slogan is "Evolving Wisdom and Original Political Reporting" and yet you deliberately excluded the most interesting and intelligent candidate (Peter Schiff) from your article.

This site is obviously a sham. How can you not include him?

I'm well aware of Schiff, and I'm in France.

I don't even live in the U.S. (i'm german). But what the hell? Why isn't he mentioned?? This is ridiculous!!

How could they leave out Schiff?

Schiff is probably a Zionist. He is friend of Ron Paul famous for his racist newsletters.

This is the funniest thing I've seen all week. Google Peter Schiff and you get 4 million plus hits, he's on the major financial shows EVERY day, and is right about just about everything, and these people have never heard of him.

Not to Mention that all of the 131 comments above me mention his name. I hate to bring it down to this level but, Duh!

Jamie! Why did you shaft Schiff?

I live in NC so, unfortunately, I cannot cast a vote in this Senate race. But if I were a CT resident I'd vote for PETER SCHIFF as the Repulican candidate!!! WHERE IS HE??? WAS IT A MISTAKE OR IGNORANCE THAT YOU FAILED TO MENTION HIS NAME IN THIS ARITICLE?

Peter Schiff is going to win. That's just the way it is.

why is peter schiff not mentioned in this article?
Heck! I'm not even an American & I know about schiffs & Pauls
I guess American media is worse than our Indian media.
Like someone rightly said: those who don't read the news are uninformed & those who read are misinformed!

Please include Peter Schiff in this discussion. He did raise over $1M from from americans across the US and has been in the national spotlight for predicting the economic recession. He just recently debated members from the federal reserve on Yahoo.

Peter Schiff in 2010.

unreal. here we go again. the candidate that has raised the most money Q3 isnt even mentioned in your article....

poor research or VERY poor ethics

How could somebody working for the National Journal omit the top Republican fundraiser in the 2010 CT Senate race? If these hundreds of joe-six-packs who have commented on this article know of Peter Schiff's existence, then surely a huge journalism firm should be aware of it as well!

If this publication knows what's best for its revenues, they will not make this mistake again.

Did someone mention Schiff?

Oh Peter Schiff, oh Peter Schiff, wherefore art thou Peter Schiff?

ha ha ha... somehow 'forgot' to mention the candidate that has gotten the most attention: Peter Schiff :)

You poor hacks and lackeys, no longer able to hoodwink the public. Hope you learned your lesson; Peter Schiff is running.

Jamie and Cyra, you need to visit a few doctors urgently to get some hearing aids, thick glasses and some intestinal cleansing (good for clear thinking), the result:
PETER SCHIFF

In my country (Portugal) we had a publicity some time ago about recycle things. It was a monkey and he takes 10 sec for recicle rubish...and the propaganda was...."He takes 10 sec....how much more you need?" Here i say the same ...hou much is needed to put this man in the senate?" (..not trying to give names to anyone...lol)Some things are meant to be ... but not meant to be seen :( sad sad! I'm not american and I can see that :/

Well... I came here to say something, but it's already been said a few dozens times. Take heed, please!

Why is Peter Schiff not mentioned here? He is the reason why I am switching my registration to republican; so that I can vote for Peter in the primary. McMahon and Simmons would be more of the same. Please revise the article to include Schiff and less about those two phonies running against him.

PETER SCHEFF?? Hello??? Anyone home??

While censorship is pretty evil, it's also pretty hilarious sometimes. That is of course at the expense of corporate rags like this one. It really makes any organization like this one loose it's legitimacy pretty fast.

It can't last. Quality valuable Information is so accessible nowadays, the global minions like this outfit just seem stupid and dishonest.

They will soon fall by the wayside in the wake of FREEDOM!!!

I can not beleive that you did not talk about Peter Schiff in this article.

back to journalism school for you.

You neglected Schiff.

F for failure

You must work for the government.

Don't forget that the only person who can actually debate Dodd and win is Peter Schiff. Peter Schiff predicted the current financial crisis as far back as 2006-2007. Check out the video!
Peter Schiff was right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I0QN-FYkpw

Where is peter Schiff?

Please explain to your readers why you left out the only Person they care about.

Go ahead, tell us the honest truth why you left out they only person in this story of any significance to us.

Anyway, I've never been to this site before, and now I know I will never be back to this site as a result of your unethical, biased journalistic viewpoint.

I wonder if Jamie and Cyra, those so called 'journalist' see how the internet has changed the media landscape and how fast BS is called on those who lack the integrity to call themselves reporters.

Learn your lesson, political hacks calling themselves journalists; Try to rig the game and you will alienate your readers. Oh, and let's not forget that this article will forever be on the internet reminding everyone what a pair of unprofessional hacks both of you are, Jamie Shufflebarger and Cyra Master.

Editor; get better writers, better researchers, and make up for this by having an article about Peter Schiff.

this is just more proof that those in charge don't want what is best for this country. america NEEDS schiff.

I read about this article on the Courant blog and had to take a look. Its just amazing that you guys could leave out Schiff. I'm just not sure if its arrogance or ignorance that made you do it. Then again, perhaps its both!! Perhaps this paraphrase is warrented, "Jamie you ignorant slut!"

You omit the only person I will donate my time and money toward...from NORTH DAKOTA no less!

Peter Schiff for Senate!!!!!

Nothing about Peter Schiff huh? That's too bad, he's the best candidate. He'll get my vote.

How could you be so dishonest? WTF where is Schiff?
It is just surreal anymore. I guess you don't know who Ron Paul is either?

GEEEzus get with the program.

Look at all these Peter Schiff comments! By my count (yes, I took the time to count) 165 Schiff supporters to 1 guy named Jason and 2 writers of the article.

Just wait until Schiff's Volunteers start making phone calls to CT.

"None of my opponents could find 100 volunteers, much less 10,000. Why volunteer? They don't stand for anything."

Peter Schiff!

Ha ha ha, Peter Schiff! That's hilarious. Who the hell is he? Had to look online to see he's polling at 5%.

The guy will get press when he get's more than a handful of supporters. I live in New Canaan and this chump doesn't stand a chance. He has no policies other than bashing America as far as I can tell.

LISTEN TO THE SCHIFF-HEADS!!!

WE WANT SCHIFF, WE WANT SCHIFF!!!

This article smells like bullschiff.

How you can call yourselves journalists without getting all the facts is disgusting.

Okay, if even a Swede can find their way here and say "What the frick - why isn't Peter Schiff mentioned" then you have a problem here ....

@Geoff,

Peter Schiff got more donation in the last quarter than any other candidate, and he didn't announce his candidacy until September 17th.

It's funny that the authors mention Sam Caligiuri and Tom Foley, who both have dropped out of the race and yet omits Schiff. I don't live in Connecticut and I'm more inform about this race than you, what does that tell you? Encase you don't know, it tells [you], your an ignorant sheep who probably knows nothing about this race let alone your state government.

"He has no policies other than bashing America as far as I can tell."-Geoff

I think you probably are repeating what some idiot said, because if you're not than you wouldn't have said that. If you want to know whose "bashing America" it's Americas own government, including your current two Senators.

P.S. Geoff, go watch some more America's got talent and leave the business of electing a true constitutional conservative who tells the truth to the more intelligent people of Connecticut. That means not you!

I'd like to thank the writers of this article for giving Schiff more press than they otherwise would have by simply mentioning his name once.

The ignorance of these writers is hilarious. If they knew anything about politics, and wanted to marginalize Schiff, they would have mentioned him but only briefly.

By not mentioning him, they induce more backlash, and actually increase the enthusiasm of those who support Schiff.

Pure comedy. Thank you writers.

I know this has been said 1million times but couldnt you guys have just mentioned Peter Schiff out of courtesy? He did raise $1M with the believe that it would atleast buy his some respect from the media.

This is just wrong

Where is Schiff? He polls extremely well against Dodd.

Is this another pick and choose news site?

is this journal DEAD? why have you not issued an editor's note yet?

REVO, are you even from the United States. It's hard to tell from your English.

Yes yes, I am a sheep, a fool, watch nothing but AMerica's Got Talent day and night, etc, etc. You wonder why people don't care for Peter Schiff? Look in the mirror. Actually, I own a successful brokerage business and probably make ten times what you do.

You all are an obnoxious, semi-literate bunch of cretins. Linda McMahon is the next Senator from CT!!

@Geoff

Why not include Peter Schiff if he has only 5% in the polls.

“If a regular Republican runs in Connecticut, why is anybody anywhere else going to give a damn? I don’t even know why anyone in Connecticut would care. What’s he going to change?”

@Ge-off,

You having fun in your idiocracy? I know you are lol.

You want to know why the USA is F@%& up? Look in the mirror. Actually, I don't care if you make ten times what I do, but it's obvious you like to bring it up in a discussion that has nothing to do with how much I or you make.

You and your ilk are the true definition of obnoxious, neo-con/lib idiots and ignorant sheep. Peter Schiff is the next Senator from CT! Get use to it.

REVO: My understanding is wealth and salary is how libertarians define a person's value so I thought I would share that. And I was countering your ad hominem attack on me claiming that I "an ignorant sheep" who does nothing but watch reality television. How does that have anything to do with "the discussion" as you call it. I pointed out that I run my own business and am quite successful at it.

If you are trying to persuade people and bring them to your cause, calling them a neo-con/lib (this is an oxymoron by the way) idiot, a sheep, etc is not the best way to go about it. Especially when you don't even live in my state. So go screw! I will think of you and your brigade of morons as I vote for Linda McMahon.

If Peter Schiff has abrasive, confrontational fools like you for supporters and volunteers he is well and truly screwed. If I was ever on the fence about Schiff, you've definitely tipped me to McMahon.

I want nothing to do with a political organization that is so disrespectful to its potential constitutents.

"Why not include Peter Schiff if he has only 5% in the polls."

Because he is a non-issue! Screaming hordes from out of state do not make Peter Schiff a viable candidate in CT. Support from higher than a single digit percentage of CT voters does.

"Evolving wisdom and original political reporting"
Oh, really?

From the other side of the atlantic (spain), the only thing about CT campaign I am interested in is PETER SCHIFF. I don't even know the other candidates.

I forgot it, you don't understand how the internet works. See youtube!

Geoff,

Media coverage begets high polling, rarely vice versa. Look at Kentucky to see what happens when a Liberty candidate gets a fair shake from the media from the get-go: Rand Paul is now leading the pack.

It's unbelievable that you leave out the only good candidate running - Peter Schiff. This guy predicted the economic crisis years in advance (search YouTube for Schiff Was Right), and has no interest in being a career politician like Dodd or McMahon. He just wants to go to Washington to solve the looming economic crisis that our current Dem and GOP politicians, including Bush and Obama, have simply delayed for a few years by spending trillions through the Federal Reserve.

Watch his Schiff Report videos on YouTube. This guy is the only one running who has any clue how the economy works and the dangers that lie ahead.

LOOK AT the 200 plus people, they can't all be out of state

Dont believe the dogma about schiff, independently go back as far as you like and he stick by his principles. If you hold similar values Schiff will not be "wishy-washy", you will get what you expect from him. He is the only candidate that doesn't support bailouts, has no large campaign contributions from special interests. He is also the only candidate that has not seeked endorsement from republican leadership.

One point of view is that anything Linda or Rob, try to legislate will have safe guarded the special, republican leadership interests before the CT electorate otherwise. Whoever CT elects, their interests should come first, neither Linda or Rob actions represent an independent or maverick. Republican leadership has endorsed both & only them because their willing to play ball.
