Dold Launches First Ad

By Beth Sussman

Businessman Robert Dold (R) went up with his first TV ad in his bid to replace Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL). The 30-second spot will air in primetime on cable, according to a release from the campaign.

Dold is one of several GOPers scurrying to raise funds and spread campaign messages. He is the 2nd GOPer on the air

Dold is the second GOPer to go on the air, after briefing.com founder Dick Green (R) launched his own spot earlier this month.

State Rep. Elizabeth Coulson (R), pediatrician Arie Friedman (R) and electrical engineer Paul Hamann (R) have yet to go up with their own spots.

State Rep. Julie Hamos (D) has launched the only ad on the Dem side, seeking to tie herself to Pres. Obama in a district that gave him 61% in '08.

'06/'08 Dem nominee Dan Seals (D) and atty Eliot Richardson (D) have not launched their own ads.

Full script of Dold ad:

DOLD: "I'm a small business owner. I know about creating jobs, building a business, meeting a budget. In Washington, Pelosi and crew are taxing and spending us to the tipping point. I want to bring common-sense conservative values to Congress. No more bailouts. No government-run health care. Putting people back to work by cutting payroll taxes, cutting waste and getting out of the way. I'm Robert Dold, and I approve this message. Let's get back to work."
