McCain Tapes NRSC Robocalls
By Reid Wilson
Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) voice will be piped in to voters' homes over the next several days in key states as GOPers pressure centrist Dems to oppose health care legislation.
The NRSC will pay for automated calls to independent voters in CO, AR and NE, and for live calls into ND, urging listeners to go to a committee website.
The Senate GOP is currently pushing a McCain motion to commit, which would send the health care bill back to the Senate Finance Committee with instructions to remove language cutting funds from Medicare. The robocalls are aimed at Sens. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Ben Nelson (D-NE) and the two Dems from ND.
"On Monday I introduced the first Republican amendment to the massive health care bill, which would send the bill back to the Senate Finance Committee and stop the Democrats from cutting vital Medicare coverage for our seniors. I need Sen. Blanche Lincoln to join me in this effort," says the call going to AR homes.
"If you agree with me, please go to our website at www.healthcaretaskforce.org and sign a petition to Sen. Lincoln urging her to join my effort to fight a Washington DC government takeover of your health care."
McCain easily won AR in '08, won ND and took 4 out of NE's 5 electoral votes. He lost CO by a wider than expected margin.
ND law prohibits automated calls, which means the NRSC will have to pay more for live versions of the calls.

To increase the message effectiveness Senator McCain should make personalized, variable voice calls.
I agree with Senator McCain. I do not want the Health Care as it is written. I do not want the government taking anymore money from Social Security and I want to be able to buy my supplimental insurance across states. I do not want the government running my life. I had forgotten how annoying those robocalls are....sounds like they're coming back and not even in an election cycle....dang it!
We are Colorado Senior citizens, who listened to Michael Bennett say that he will vote yes on the "Health Care Reform Bill" even if it means he will not be reelected. I want to help him not get reelected, if that is how he feels. Mr Bennett, pay attention. Thank you for a positive amendment, Senator McCain.
Richard and Susan Doran
Please Senator Lincoln do not use medicare funds to support this "new health care program". Let the finance committee work on finding funds in other ways.
We need to find ways to curb cost's!!!!!
I agree with Senator McCain. Let finance committee find other ways to finance reform.
Senator McCain
I agree with you. We do not want the governmant controlling our health care any further. We ask Sen. Lincoln to vote accordingly

Humm, seems that everyone agrees and in the same tone, almost as if they have been asked by the same source to respond.
Mr McCain gets great "socialized" health care that the tax payers pay for. What is wrong with insuring that all Americans receive the same "right".
Yes, health care should be a right in a country that generates as much wealth as does ours, off the backs of the real working people, of whom most of the right really does not give a hoot about.
LOOK AT DEEDS, NOT SOUND BITES
It is too bad that politicians continue to exempt themselves from Do Not Call law.
StopPoliticalCalls.org is fighting for the privacy of the American voter.
1 - Creating a Political Do Not Call Registry
2 - Testifying in the US Senate about robo calls (Sen. Feinstein’s Robocall Privacy Act)
3 - Forcing states to enforce existing robo call laws (CA, MN, NJ, etc..)
4 - Getting politicians to take a do not robo call pledge (7 have)
Here is a quote from a member recently:
"I'm a shift worker, working variable shifts. I depend on my sleep to be able to do my job safely and efficiently. I'm a locomotive engineer. Imagine the disaster were I to fall asleep, operating a freight train carrying hazardous materials in your neighborhood, due to fatigue from being awoken in my middle of the night on a continuous basis during election season. Please stop.."
I agree with you, John McCain. I am asking Sen. Lincoln to vote accordingly
Senator McCain, I agree with you,we do not want the health care bill as written.Let us not allow "our" government take over our health care any more than it already has and cut coverage for senior citizens. Sen. Blanche Lincoln please hear us.
I agree with Senator MaCain. We do not want the Health care bill as it is written, and we do not want more money taken out of our Social Security checks. We do not want coverage cut for senior citizens. Senator Blanche Lincoln please listen and hear us.

SENATOR MC CAIN IS GREAT, I SAY NO TO OBAMA S HEALTHCARE PLAN WHICH WILL DEVASTATE OUR COUNTRY, THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO HELP THE UNINSURED THAN MAKING OUR COUNTRY GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED AND TAKING AWAY OUR FREEDOM OF CHOICE AND OUR MONEY, NO TO CUTTING OUR SENIORS MEDICARE WHICH THEY ALREADY PAID FOR AND NO TO OBAMA DRIVING OUR COUNTRY INTO POVERTY AND OUR PEOPLE OUT OF WORK!!!
THANK YOU SENATOR MC CAIN WE NEED YOU AND MANY LIKE YOU!!!!!
I agree with Senator McCain.
Has anyone seen The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, where aliens create "pod people" who don't think or speak for themselves?
That's what this seems like...These people, who all suspiciously, monotonously "agree with Senator McCain," can't even seem to think or speak for themselves. They are merely the slaves of their ideological masters in the GOP.
I agree with Senator McCain. We need change, But not at the risk of seniors.
I agree with Senator McCain also, we do not the government interfering in our lives any more. Let's stand up and say NO to any more government take over. People of Arkansas stand up any say NO to Lincoln any Pryor, they're worthless!!!
Forgive me if I disagree with your opinion about McCain and his attempt to solicit your support to eliminate a much need cut in useless and wastefull Medicare expenditures the elimination of which would not impact basic senior's benefits and which McCain said he wanted to do in his presidential campaign. McCain campaigned for the presidency on this issue which he now wants to eliminate. Could it be that McCain wants to exploit his base's short memory and unflinching and unquestioning support to prevent support for the Democrat's health reform no matter if it is for the good of seniors and reduction of government expenses.
Since all the comments on this blog appear to reflect the thinking that the Democrat's health reform represents a government take over of the current health plan, I can't imagine that facts or reality play any part in this line of thought. Don't any of you listen to the news and the exposure of these untruths?
Internet access is a great resource for learning factual information unless you frequent sites voicing the opinions of Glen Beck, Hanity, and Limbaugh. If you think this cadre of deception and misrepresentation are looking out for your interests and welfare and give you truth, there is little to talk about. Nothing has any effect on this type of mentality.
Now "Straight Talk" McCain is engaging in misdeception. Heaven help us all.
Great post this will really help me.
I agree this far with Senator McCain (R-flip flop): As written the bill is problematic. It is larger than it needs be. With my 30 years editing experience, I could cut it by at least 700 pages, maybe a 900. But, you know, the House bill is relatively the same size as the 2003 Part D bill, given that that bill covered less territory and was no full of little finagles to kowtow to the other Party's (Republican/Conservative) objections.
(Interesting that HR1 - 108th Congress - was rammed through late Sat. night two days after it was introduced. Vote on it was same count as HR3962, with Party numbers reversed of course.) MedicarePart D, you will recall, is what really broke the bank of the Medicare Trust Fund. (Sorry, I didn't note the link to the Thomas.gov facts.)
As to government-run health care, there is none in this bill. Care will still be provided at their recommendation by the same doctors and clinics and hospitals who make more money the more procedures they send patients to. (Say, none of the personalized messages after the mimeo-ed comments mentioned the "tort reform" shibboleth. Couple mentioned the "across state lines" issue, but neglected the anti-trust part of that which requires insurance regulation to be within and under authority of states so insurance avoids interstate commerce status. Republicans never mention that, do they.)
Personally, from my 20-year studies, a Single-Payer System would address all the criticisms, both true and false, the pro-medical industry Republicans present of this bill and other proposals -- Single-Payer such as Australia and other sensible, cost-conscious societies have. If we had that, I'd leave the VA system and go to experienced doctors instead of the student ones that treat most of us there (albeit under the supervision of full-fledged doctors who don't seem to actually supervise). By Single-Payer I don't mean the Conservative's straw man, the British National Health Service, which, like the VA, is indeed socialized medicine.
And last. Bill or no bill, buy med stocks. Good "investment." Bill fails, buy more, profits will be up even more.
I agree with you Senator mcCain.
The goverment has figured out how to take over the banks, the car dealerships and now they want healthcare.
People, have you noticed how they are now dabbling in freedom of religon. Getting rid of a cross here, a manger scene there? When they control our freedom of religon we are toast!
I thought that government and religon were not suppose to be mixed; well the government is mixing into religon just long enough to shut down our Christian right to express how we believe.Bet you don`t see that happening to the Muslems or the people that believe in Budda etc.
I agree with you Senator mcCain.

I agree with Senator McCain. Also if Senator Bennett votes FOR the health bill I personnaly will Work very hard to make sure he is never elected to any office in the State of Colorado. He is not listening to the citizens of this state or the United States. Leo Thompson 12/20/2009
I agree with Senator McCain. Stop the spending. Get out of private enterprise. Cut your salaries, and give SS a raise. Just act like STATESMEN, be honest and protect this nation. 12-20-09
I agree wth Senator John McCain. This Healthcare Bill is being crammed down our thoats. I want health care reform, but not this bill as written. Too much government control of our lives.
I AGREE WITH SENATOR McCain Stop this bill!!!
I agree with Senator McCain but the Dems do not care what we thi;nk or what we want. For some reason they think they know what is better for us than you or I and they do not even know us. I what to know who make them GOD?
This whole healthcare bill has been rushed through instead of taking the time to fine-tune what may be some possible improvements. Take two or three years to get it right; too much is at stake to make so many radical changes without more knowledge. Before you do anything, all of Congress should be required to read the whole Bill. Why does the Bill need to be 2000 pages long?
I agree with Senator McCain...we need to repudiate these bullies and let them know we need them to calm down and think of the good a free enterprize system has done for all who really want to move ahead! As President Kennedy once said so eloquently, "Ask not what your country can do for you; but, what you can do for your country!" Remember once we loose our freedom of choice, we can never get it back.... Good ole common sense is what is needed, so how about using your head... change can be good, but don't get radical. Thank God for freedom of speech.
