Simmons Paints Self As Only Fiscal Conservative

By Jamie Shufflebarger

In an interview 12/17, ex-Rep. Rob Simmons (R-CT) sought to portray himself as the front-runner as he insisted ex-WWE CEO Linda McMahon's (R) money won't be able to buy her a Senate seat.

"Only the people can decide who they want to sit in their seats, and I think next year there will be some very clear comparisons between us," Simmons told Hotline OnCall in the NRSC's offices. "I mean, I'm ahead in the polls, I'm the lead candidate. I'm the only candidate on the GOP side who's only ever served in the Congress, who's ever been able to win a race. ... All this adds up to success."

Simmons said he was "right on target" for quarterly fundraising and insisted he would not be caught off guard if Sen. Chris Dodd (D) is not the candidate he faces next Nov.

"I think this race is about issues. Sen. Dodd supports higher taxes and higher spending. I would anticipate that [AG Richard] Blumenthal would be just the same as Sen. Dodd on that issue. And therefore, there's really no difference," said Simmons. "It's a person that would vote the same way as Dodd votes. I would argue that I would have just as [much of] an opportunity against a tax and spend Democrat as I would against Dodd."

Simmons is painting himself as the fiscally conservative alternative to Dodd and McMahon. McMahon said last week that she would have voted for last year's TARP bill.

"I would have voted against it from the get-go," said Simmons. "If your goal and objective is to stabilize the finance markets and increase liquidity ... then you don't just simply allocate huge amounts of money to major firms that they can use for any purpose they want- buying another bank, giving out huge executive bonuses. That's a very bad piece of legislation."

Despite his appearance at "Tea-Party" rallies around CT, Simmons doesn't consider himself an outsider ready to throw the government into Boston Harbor. "Look, I know how the Senate works. I don't need on-the-job training," he said. "I know how the Congress works, because I've made it work."

Simmons said GOPers need to pick their candidates carefully before they start winning in New England again. "I'm a fiscal conservative, and one on security and defense issues. I'm more moderate on social issues," said Simmons. "So I fit there."

Simmons said he admired Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-CT) role in eliminating a public option. "He's been under a lot of pressure from his Democratic colleagues and others to cave in," said Simmons. "I've got to tell you, he's a very courageous man to stand up for what he believes."

Simmons, with a reputation as a centrist during his terms in Congress, would not identify pieces of the Dem agenda he would support now, but he said he would be inclined to allow gays and lesbians to serve in the military so long as they met standards of service.

"I'd have to look at the exact nature of the ('Don't Ask, Don't Tell') legislation, but I'm saying that if an individual meets all the standards of military service, I don't see why that's a problem," said Simmons. "I don't think it makes a difference whether you're heterosexual or homosexual."

He then produced a copy of Barry Goldwater's autobiography and quoted his one-time boss: "When it comes to the military, I don't care whether they're gay or straight, I just care if they can shoot straight."

It's unbelievable that you leave out the only good candidate running - Peter Schiff. This guy predicted the economic crisis years in advance (search YouTube for Schiff Was Right), and has no interest in being a career politician like Dodd or McMahon. He just wants to go to Washington to solve the looming economic crisis that our current Dem and GOP politicians, including Bush and Obama, have simply delayed for a few years by spending trillions through the Federal Reserve.

Watch his Schiff Report videos on YouTube. Back in 2006 he gave a speech at a Mortgage Bankers conference, where he told them to get out of the business, that they were all going to go broke in a couple years. They all laughed at him, as did everyone who interviewed him on Fox, CNN, CNBC, etc. The videos are on the SchiffReport channel.

This guy is the only one running who has any clue how the economy works and the dangers that lie ahead.

No comment on Peter Schiff?? This article is a joke.

To market in conditions of high-performance rather than monetary value, and in order to differentiate consequently, you necessitate to pursue the definitive format of the 4 Ps marketing plan. That is, Price, Product, Place and Promotion manifestly you recognise the important properties of the merchandise, and the price, but for place you should consider approximately the type of mass who are willing to pay over 4x price of competing product whereas the low-cost option may be sold where accent is on cost, your ware will be suited to places/distributors where the clients will be willing to pay for high-performance. Thank you for this article! I've just learned a without doubt open news portal about real marketing Test it!

Great idea, but will this work over the long run?

Damn, that sound's so easy if you think about it.

Hey, ok, I get it, I guess - but does this really work?
