Gingrich Compares Admin To Soviets

In a fiery CPAC speech this afternoon, ex-Speaker Newt Gingrich called on conservative activists to defeat the "secular socialist agenda" of the Obama admin or risk the very future of America.
Gingrich addressed the packed auditorium as a conquering hero, entering to "Eye of the Tiger." The enthusiastic crowd gave him a standing ovation as he glad-handed his way to the stage, entering through the audience rather than from the wings, as other speakers this week have done.
Gingrich called for a "principled bipartisanship," but put the blame for deadlock in DC squarely on Obama and Congressional Dems. Gingrich, like many CPAC speakers, compared the current admin. to the Soviet Union.
"I believe that we are in a struggle over whether or not we're going to save America," Gingrich said. "I believe the radical left is a secular socialist machine so dedicated to the destruction of the values of America.... that it is antithetical to the survival of America as a prosperous healthy country based on sound principles."
Gingrich argued that all of the recent crises "are not economic, they're cultural." He said Americans need to spend within their means, and said the government over the last 20 years has encouraged families to buy homes even if they couldn't afford it. He called for a balanced budget amendment, and cited the budgets of the '90s as an example.
Gingrich said the corruption of unions in government is part of the reason for DC's ineptness. He cited the NYC teacher unions as an example, as an audience member yelled "Down with the NEA."
"I know from a Chicago-Springfield background that it's hard to grasp that honesty can be part of government." Gingrich joked. "But time has come to tell the truth about the corruption of the government employee unions of this country."
He blasted Dems for secrecy during the health care debate, and called for an open amendment and conference process. He said GOPers should attend next week's WH health care summit, but go armed with their own agenda and demand the health care legislation process begin anew.
He thinks GOPers will win control of both the House and the Senate at the end of this year, and promised that the country will elect a new president in '12. But Gingrich warned that "history doesn't stand by" until then.
"If we are going to have three years in which the President, Reid and Pelosi become isolated," Gingrich said. "We can't just sit back and hope people are just going to let us wait. We can't go on recess. We have to have the courage to stand up and say we know what we believe, we know what American people believe, we know what is good for America's future."
Gingrich is on the '10 CPAC presidential straw poll ballot, results of which will be announced at 5:30 this evening. Gingrich was 5th with 10% of the vote in '09. During his speech today he had kind words for both ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney (R) and MN Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R), who both spoke earlier this week and are also straw poll contenders.
Newt is behind the curve and trying to play catch up. Yes, he's articulate and quick witted, but his day has come and gone. He is too accommodating to the opposition. Conservatism has won the debate of ideas and there is absolutely no reason to compromise with progressives. We won! Newt is consistently making wrong calls. He is a seasoned politician that is led by ambition instead of strong conservative ideology. We believed his "Contract with America" but were disappointed when he failed to follow through. What happened to those term limits and other promises? Bye, bye Newt.
During the campaign, thought that Obama was a bright guy. This constant reliance on 'BLAME BUSH' has totally WORN OUT!! WHY CAN'T THEY SEE IT?? Team Obama has to have other feasible plans rather than BLAME BUSH!!
Each time I hear Gibbs, Axelrod, Emanuel, Obama, Jarrett, and other Obama acolytes voice that EXCUSE, I ask myself the question: IS HE JUST NOT MAN ENOUGH TO DO THE JOB?? Increasingly, the answer comes back NO!
His track record for the first year is totally ABYSMAL!! If he gives us more “This is what the last eight years has brought,” then I want him to explain his FIRST YEAR!!
Look at everything else he has touched!!
*American automotive companies (now bankrupt!);
*Cash for Clunkers (look what that little jewel cost the tax payers!);
*Cabinet appointees who cannot even pay their taxes, and we are supposed to trust them??
*Eric Holder calling citizens ‘COWARDS’ for not addressing race in America;
*TARP (look at the number of bank failures and the limited loans they are making today!)..now up to 160 closed!!
*H1N1 vaccine shortage, (and short supplies going to special interest groups!), and now recalling 800,000 doses for little kids;
*Three dozen czars who create layering, and little else – the USA is not a dictatorship!
* The Professor Gates ‘teachable moment’ when the President jumped to a guilty conclusion before he even knew the facts – and should have kept his mouth shut!!!!
*consistent indecision on Afghanistan, and ultimately had to use West Point as a prop to announce a ‘muttled’ message
*the Olympic bid disaster;
*the Copenhagen junket that ended as a bust (thank God) – but was a nice vacation for ‘the ruling class and their family members at taxpayer’s expense!
*10% unemployment when the government plan was supposed to keep it below 8%;
*the GITMO goat ropin' – know that the folks in Thomson, IL are real proud now;
*a government health care bill that appears to be making sausage with spoiled meat, but mandating – by law – that all citizens buy it at premium prices, but with reduced services;
*Special interests making public policies in the back rooms of the White House with ZERO transparency (i.e., unions)
*a standstill on international relations (Iran and north Korea as examples);
*.. and who can ever forget the underserved Nobel Peace Prize for NOTHING???
*Daily doses of arrogance from Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, et al, and the White House – especially Geithner, Orszag, Gibbs, Emanuel and Napolitono;
*unable to stop Pelosi Air at a time when 10% of the nation is out of work!
*Losses in New Jersey, Virginia, and even Ted Kennedy’s FORMER senate seat (bet few will be asking him for support in the future)!
*Serious concerns over the professionalism to secure the USA (to wit, the near airline bombing on Christmas Day) Testimony on Jan 20 was stunning! The DIRECTOR OF INTELLIGENCE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON!! WHO WAS IN CHARGE THAT DAY? ERIC HOLDER??? He did not even advise the Intelligence community!! DO YOU FEEL SAFE??

Can only imagine his trick to get the republicans in a room (Feb 25th); show case it on TV; tell the world that HE called all parties together for an “UNPRECEDENTED and HISTORIACAL, FIRST TIME EVER” Meeting at the White House; and then trash them as they leave for being ‘OBSTRUCTIONSITS’!! Glibb Gibbs might even be holding a press conference with the latter message as they depart the building!! This team is the MOST UNTRUSTWORTHY in memory, and this old person is 70+! BEWARE FOLKS! If he will throw his own party members under the bus, just think of what he will do to republicans.
No wonder members of the majority party are hesitant to follow Obama’s lead. He is the epitome of “DO AS I SAY DO, NOT AS I DO!” Obama is out for one person and one person only --- OBAMA!
