Is Lowden The Front-Runner Yet?
Ex-state Sen./ex-NV GOP chair Sue Lowden (R) isn't the runaway favorite in the GOP field vying to face Senate Maj. Leader Harry Reid, but she's starting to look like the frontrunner.
Lowden has raised more than her GOP rivals, according to FEC reports, and she is near the front in public polls, leading or only narrowly trailing better-known businessman/'06 Sec/State nominee Danny Tarkanian (R) by just a few points; a new survey for an NV retailers association by noted GOP firm Public Opinion Strategies shows Lowden leading 35%-28%, with other candidates splitting 13% of the vote.
She is also the first GOPer up with TV ads, though wealthy ex-investment banker John Chachas (R) will join her on air shortly.
So, has Lowden taken a clear lead? NV political analyst Jon Ralston isn't sold yet, but says Lowden's early performance has the establishment GOP taking note.
"[I'm] not sure I would call her the clear frontrunner," Ralston said in an email. "What I do think is fair is that she is seen as the best of a second-tier lot by the DC GOP types."
That second-tier group has frustrated some GOPers. Lowden, Tarkanian, Chachas and ex-Assemb. Sharron Angle (R) are not the quality candidates national GOPers hoped to attract for their bid to capture a one of their prime pickup targets.
Lowden looks the strongest on paper; she has won a difficult race before, and she's willing to invest heavily in her own campaign. What's more, Reid's campaign has targeted her early, suggesting they are most worried by the threat she poses.
But Tarkanian remains well-known around the state. Chachas has put $1.3M into his own campaign and promises to write bigger checks in the future. And Angle, who is a favorite of the very conservative set in the state, has won a series of early straw polls, which suggest her strength among activists could go farther than the less-than-impressive money she has raised.
Regardless of which candidate wins the state's June 8 primary, the GOP may have something else to worry about. Businessman Jon Ashjian has filed to run as a representative of the Tea Party, and the new poll shows he takes serious support away from the front-running GOPers.
Lowden leads Reid by a 42%-37% margin, with Ashjian taking 9%, the survey shows. Tarkanian is ahead by a single point, 40%-39%, with Ashjian at 11%. Before Ashjian made the ballot, both GOPers were much closer to 50%.
The survey, conducted Feb. 15-16, polled 500 likely voters for a margin of error of +/- 4.38%.

Sue Lowden is a RINO. She and her husband donated thousands to Reid's previous campaigns and even voted for him. She destroyed the state republican party and left it in debt. She shut down the state convention because she didn't like the potential nominee. Nevada does not need any more RINOs.
The Tea Party 'party' is a ruse to take away republican votes so Harry can win.
The Tea Baggers need to realize that they might not agree with Sue BUT the fact of the matter, conservatives need a candidate that can beat Harry in November.
The sad truth, the only candidate that can beat Harry is Sue. All other candidates will be destroyed by Harry Reid.
Sue Lowden is a RINO? There are plenty of RINOs in this world, like Charlie Crist, but there's no credibility in anyone calling Sue Lowden a RINO.
Do you want a candidate that is staunchly pro-life, backs up her 2nd Amendment credentials with a .38 special, and has been at the forefront of the fight against higher taxes throughout her career? If that's what you want, then Sue's your girl.
She understands how to confront the two biggest issues in our state, education and the economy, with her background of creating thousands of jobs for Nevada and her experience as an elementary school teacher with a master's in education.
Sue may have supported Harry Reid in the 80's, but that's because Harry was much more conservative thirty years ago. At the time, he was the right choice for us, but that was a long time ago and Harry has changed.
Ronald Reagan was an elected Democrat in California twenty years before he was elected President as a Republican. Twenty years. Sue Lowden supported Reid thirty years ago. If you support Reagan's vision and memory, then you shouldn't have any problem with Sue Lowden's similar transition of belief.
Lowden was supporting Reid the Democrat when Reagan was supporting Reid's opponent.
Frank sounds like he has Sue Lowden mixed up with Sharron Angle. She is the only true conservative in the race. As far as I know Sue was pro-choice before she was pro-life. Sharron Angle has always been pro-life. She also has her CCW. She was a school teacher and wrote the bill for homeschooling in Nevada. She has fought for lower taxes and she won a major campaign when they gerrymandered her district to try to get her out. Sue served only one term. She is buying the election with her money and her name. Sharron served four terms in the legislature. Check out her record on her website www.sharronangle.com or go the Nevada legislature and check out her voting record.
Sue Lowden voted pro-choice....
She was also for taxes... check out this

If the GOP nominates a party boss who contributed and voted for Harry Reid in the past (Sue Lowden) as the new face of conservatism in this tea party year, they haven't learned their lesson and deserve to lose. I'll take Tark or Angle any day - I won't vote for Sue Lousy.
Sue Lowden is a failure. She failed to successfully run the 2008 State Convention. She failed to kee the state party's finances in the black. Under her watch, Nevada went from voting in favor of George W. Bush by 3 points to voting for Barack Obama by 12 points. Sue is a failing candidate. We should not pick her to run aganst Sen. Reid.
If I were Harry Reid and Danny Tarkanian was my opponent, I would run commercials that showed photos of Danny's mother and father, the famous couple, Tark the Shark and Lois the Las Vegas City Councilmember, that announced to all in Nevada how the Tarkanian family have been huge supporters of me for years and that they are loyal democrats.
And on Danny, I would do commercials showing how Danny Tarkanian's only campaign contributions have been to a sitting LIBERAL democrat congresswoman.
Danny Tarkanian's past will insure a victory and Danny could very well be running for this reason.

Sue Lowden is a cheater. She cheated the delegates to the 2008 Republican State Convention when she ordered the convention suspended when she was tipped that Ron Paul delegates would capture the majority of the national convention delegates being voted upon. She cheated the investors in her family controlled public company by underpaying the company's preferred shareholders to the tune of about $15 million. See: D.E. Shaw Laminar Portfolios, LLC v. Archon Corp. 570 F.Supp.2d 1262 (D.Nev 2008). The only true conservative in the race is Sharron Angle and the only way she can lose is if stupid voters vote for other conservative candidates who don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the primary.
funny how the RGJ(Reno Gazette Journal)article about Lowden's shenanigans at the Repub State Convention has disappeared from their website! This abuse of power needs to be a Headline in every one of her opponents literature and speeches. Added to her previous support for Scary Harry. Unbelievable. She's a black widow if there ever was one....I'd support anyone but her....But remember the ultimate goal is to SEND HARRY BACK TO SEARCHLIGHT!!!!
Super-Duper site! I am loving it!! Will come back again - taking your feeds also, Thanks.
This is wonderful information. You must submit it to Delicious.
Sue Lowden is the best thing to ever happen to Harry Reid. He may be running ads against her now because he assumes she will oppose him. But, he is hoping she is the Rep nominee. She has more dirty laundry than a laundromat. Sue Lowden, if elected would be the Senator looking out only for the interests of the casinos, not the people. Her ties too gaming are too extensive. Her South American dictator actions during the 08 NV Rep Convention showed her true nature. The National Republican Party slammed her for her actions. She has alot of enemies inside the Nevada Rep Party, especially Ron Paul Supporters. The unions will campaign against her, more than any other Republican candidate, because of her vicious fight against them as a casino owner. Her vanity will also come out. She's running like she is still a Miss New Jersey candidate. Google her name and try to find her year of birth; you won't. She has made sure that her age is nowhere to be found. Her and her husbands campaign contributions to Harry Reid will also come out. Her casino interests, botox and hiding her year of birth are most important to her. Her and her husband Paul, have too many skeltons. If she ends up as the Rep candidate, we will have to look at Harry Reid for another 6 years. (Because I like a nice mystery, I was able to find out Sue's hidden birth date after a lot of research, Feb 08, 1952; Sue is 58 years old; OH MY GOD, don't worry Sue, your Botox and Miss Clairol will hide the truth)
In regards to Sue Lowden fighting higher taxes during her short time in the State Senate. It is true that Sue did in fact fight higher taxes. That is the reason she wanted to get into the State Senate, to fight higher taxes. The only problem is that research will show, that the main tax hikes she fought against were those proposed on the gaming and hotel industry. The same two industries that made her a multimillionaire. She just wanted to make sure that anyone else besides gaming and hotels, paid higher taxes. She was protecting her turf!
