NRCC Hits Own Member In Fundraising Gaffe
The NRCC wants its contributors to know it will spend the money necessary to defeat a member of Congress who backs liberal Dems like Speaker Nancy Pelosi. But in 271 cases, those letters went to residents of a district held by the newest member of the GOP.
In a fundraising letter, NRCC chair Pete Sessions lets donors in AL 05 know their "Democrat in Congress has been falling in line with Nancy Pelosi's destructive liberal agenda." The only problem is the NRCC is backing that incumbent, Rep. Parker Griffith (R).
"We're airing hard-hitting ads against your Democrat Member of Congress, and it's making an impact!" the letter reads.
Griffith, elected as a Dem in '08, switched his affiliation in Dec. He faces tough challenges in the GOP primary, but national GOPers are publicly helping his efforts. The fundraising letter puts a due date on contributions as Feb. 12, tomorrow.
"Airing TV ads in your part of Alabama gets expensive over time, and we need to make sure we can apply serious pressure on your Representative throughout the 2010 campaign season," Sessions wrote.
Madison Co. Commis. Mo Brooks (R), the recipient of one of the letters, had some fun with the NRCC's gaffe.
"It is ironic that, even today, the NRCC characterizes Parker Griffith as a liberal Democrat, NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions' fundraising letter confirms what we all know -- Parker Griffith is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and sending him back to Washington as a Republican is like sending the fox to guard the henhouse," Brooks said in a statement. "If the NRCC will promise to use my contribution to correctly identify Parker Griffith's liberal voting record in TV ads, I'll gladly send them money."
Never mind that the NRCC has only aired ads against a very small number of Dems, and only in very small amounts, the party has not actually run any ads in Griffith's district. GOPers spent most of last year being quiet about Griffith's record as they secretly orchestrated his party switch.
"The chairman's letter was spot-on in the most important regard: North Alabamians have abandoned the Obama-Pelosi party in droves because its liberal agenda is dismissive of their values and hostile toward their interests," said NRCC spokesperson Andy Sere. "Tennessee Valley Democrats understand that a sea change has taken place, which is why all of the remotely-credible potential candidates for this seat have demurred; the next time a mailing goes out, we'll make sure our vendor gets the memo, too."
So, after you've 'purged' every normal human being from any contact with our United States government (of, by and for the people) = what do you WANT?

mommadona, awesome reply!!!! But telling this to people who only listen to the Faux News Narrative, seems like talking to a wall. They want socialism for them while barring it from anyone else. To them having a National Army, which is the utmost in socialism, and public roads, libraries, schools, medicare, etc... is not socialism to them, its what they deserve, it's just those dark people in the cities they don't want getting any public money.

Dale knows that Hawaii is a state. But, when dale says, "We need one of our own kind in the White house, not a Kenyan usurper," he's not referring to Obama's nationality. Just like the teabaggers don't really care about taxes and the deficit. (So far, Obama has only cut taxes.) Doesn't it occur to any of you that the deficit has increased with every President since Carter (Clinton being the only exception), yet the teabaggers don't show up until this President?
The sad part is that the media is giving them some validity. People are starting to think that these groups have a legitimate agenda. If they influence elections we will all suffer.
The GOP really doesnt want anything from Government except to take your money, and deliver it with no strings attached to the Rich corporations promsing them careers, donations, bribes on a daily basis.

I think people are missing the magnitude of the Republican agenda. One of the cornerstones of conservatism is that "Government does not work".
Republicans have moved from "government does not work", to "government must not be permitted to work"! They then cry out against the ineffectiveness of government. All the while, the country slides into an historical abyss.
Why is it that anyone that disagrees with Obama's agenda must be a Republican? That's a bit narrow minded. Many of us independent minded people loathe the Republican Party about the same as the Democratic Party. Both Parties are run by corrupt machines and we're sick of both. Any clear minded person can see that both Parties have equally devastated our economy over many years. There just comes a point in time when the silent masses must speak up. This all began under the Republican reign! The reason people are so upset with Obama is that he is making it even worse. Spend, spend, spend, and lie, lie, lie. Politicians depend on the fact that the masses have historically not paid attention or cared. Well, citizens are awaking from their long and foolish slumber. These awaking masses are derogatorily referred to as "Tea Baggers", but there are really a myriad of diverse groups out there.
For many many decades policy has not been driven by love of country; it has been driven by love of power and control. Buying votes, directly or indirectly, has become a political art form. It's easy to point to "corporate greed" and capitalism as the evil foe, but it is really "political greed" that hath wrought our economic demise.

We are not narrow minded, we are referring to the ideas being offered, it's fine to loathe both political parties, they both have problems but to equate them as the same, to ignore all the years of right-leaning supply-side ideology which directed the policies of both parties, undermining manufacturing jobs, middle class income, and our tax base and brought us to this point is clearly short-sighted emotionalism and revealing of your own agenda, we don't just approve of everything this president does, I think he's too moderate, history has shown us the failure of a republican driven economic ideology, so when we allowed this wealthy free for all for 25 years while the right was decrying any progressive/ liberal policies as unAmerican treason in keeping with the political narrative of the day, some of us found it suspicious when a Rick Santelli a wall st investor coins the term tea-party on Fx news and suddenly there are thousands on board declaring any change from the deregulatory policies which facilitated the crisis as outright socialism, any concerned person should wonder, about whose ends does stopping Obama's agenda undermind, he ran for office on the same points, if anything he's moved to the middle not the left, but some out there are pretending as if in one year his policies which have pulled us from the brink are worst than those which got us here. I have one question How? (please no diatribes about what someone thinks might happen), but what can we point at and say will happen, remember bushes tax cuts were supposed to create good jobs and help the middle class, look at us now.
Ask yourself why when Gallup polls "indpendents" his rating is 44%, but when you poll "moderates" his numbers jump to 57% The real issue is are their more cons. who jumped the GOP ship and are now "indpendents" than those that are moderates. Most people assume independents are moderates and clearly they are not. The far left and the moderates all have high numbers per Gallup. Just a few days ago Moderates had Obama at 60% approval rating.

The Republicans of late use inflammatory language to push their agenda. What "destructive liberal agenda" are they referring to? They know that the average American with the 8th grade education is not going to call them out for that.
If you watch any interviews of Tea Baggers, you'll see what I mean. They don't know the difference between Socialists and Commies. They hear stuff on Beck and Rush's radio shows and believe it verbatim.
